1 Lufkin/CP/Woodz
4 Conroe/Oak
6 New Caney

Anything can happen.

Until Lufkin loses to a Woodlands school, they're the favorites.

followed by Woodz/OR/CP/Conroe

then:

New Caney.

CP has 2 very good QBs (including an all state performer) and 3 very good RB's. Offense will not be a problem. Do not know what they bring to the table defensively at this point. Will know more after the spring game. All I know is LB Daniel Hilton and DB Keenan Cook are very good. And if Aaron Osborne sees some PT on D, I think we will be ok. But inconsistency on defense was definitely a concern last year. If it's not a problem in 09, we should have a good year.

I totally agree I think that College Park will be pretty good team this year.

-Offense-

The offense looks like they will be one of the better in the houston area with Taylor Parsons running the helm and also a couple of good running backs in Aaron Osborne and Adrian Stewart. The key in the offense will be Taylor Parsons he's been the starter for couple of years now and is really looking to bulid off his past success. Late last year he was really getting that offense rolling and he will try to keep that success going this coming season.

-Defense-

The defense looks like it will be the key to work on and really to see how good this college park team can be two players to watch for on defense as he said are LB Daniel Hilton and DB Keenan Cook. If the defense this year is able to make some stops and make some big plays. There is know telling how good and how far this team can go.

I think this College Park team will be not only a team to watch out for in this district but also in the houston area. The key early on in the season for this team might be to control the ball and run the clock. So that the defense can get better as the season goes along.

I predict they will go 8-2 with an upset over the woodlands again who knows with team they could be fighting even winning the district title but we'll see won't we!

On paper Lufkin should be better in 2009 than they were in either 2007 or 2008, but they will still need to get the job done on the field. Our district has become more competitive than in years past. This is a good thing for everyone in 14-5A, especially come playoff time. Lufkin had their best playoff years when they were head knocking with the likes of Longview, Tyler Lee, JT and Marshall in their old 5A East Texas district.

The Panthers should be strong at the WR position returning all from the 2008 team. This group will be led by Quinn Trimble and Tra Horace. While Casey Jones may still see a few passes thrown his way, he has been switched over to DB in the offseason. This will be another strong area for the Pack, along with Jones, there will be returning starters (Longhorn signee) Carrington Byndom, Victor Price, Ramon Griffin and Marcellus Parks.

The Pack defense also returns LB's Blane McBride, Kendall Byerly, James Duirden and Brysen Brown, with Desron Williams returning on the defensive line.

The OL has Ben Honeywell, Clark Oates and Shakobie McCoy returning.

A big plus in '09 will be the depth of this team, a definate problem the last two years.

The biggest news, there will be a new starting QB in Lufkin. The Pack have two very good options and both saw action on the varsity at various times of last season. Senior Arthur Tinz and Junior Deauntre "Bush" Smiley will vie to lead the Pack offense in 2009. Either one will be an excellent choice and will bring leadership to the position.

Kicking game will be solid with Will Fenely, Angel Guerrero and Clay Smithhart.

Several highly regarded sub-varsity kids are expected to fill big roles this year, such as Chris Bean (WR), Carlos Warren (RB), Jerion Wiiiams(DB), Demarkus Walker (RB), Jackson Randle (LB),Monty Williams (LB), Ben Pope (DL), Brandon Cashaw (DL), Randolph Moreland (LB) and Darrell Thomas- Kelly (DL) just to name a few.

Rumor is that we will play QB and they will run the Vince Young Read Option with him. But it is just a rumor for now.

Man I had to dig deep to find this, but with all of out of PO contention, how are all of the other sports looking this year?

TW Girls Volleyball is in the final four at state this weekend, and our boys CC team won state last week. The other sports start up soon Basketball, soccer, baseball, what are your expectations?

Yes the teams have changed :) forget the first several posts!!

kingwood, atascosita, welcome to the non-football side of the district!!

The Woodlands Basketball should be good. With 4 starts returning from a 27-6 squad. Including Football players Brian Nordstrom Sr. and Jamie Taylor So. Dont forget Wes Cole who is committed to Hartford I think. (which is D1 in Basketball:D) They should win District again if they can beat out Kingwood.

All is true. Is CP going to be good in bball this year? I know for sure that the district in soccer will come down to CP, TW, and KW.
