well yea, im sure dodge will be the best.....but coves QB next year is gonna be a in Robert Griffin.....he backed up Garner this past year.....he was a regional quailfier in the 110M hurrdles as a freshman.....he can also throw the ball a long ways.....if we work with his accurcy and leadership, we wont lose a thing at qb after garner..

I am not totally sold on Riley Dodge. I believe he will be okay with an opportunity to be good/great. He desperately needs to grow and develop more arm strength. He has the potential & definately comes from good bloodlines, however; he will have more pressure than any other SLC QB ever....Let's see, son of head coach, following 3 QBs who were all 5A players of the year, completely revamped O-line, completely revamped receiving core, completely revamped defense. As DDaddy has said, I recommend we tap the brakes a little. There will always be great opportunity at SLC while coach Dodge is there, but he has a tuff job ahead of him next season. This team could start off slow out of the box and struggle. Hell, they may have a very unlike SLC season. I hope the fans are ready for what could be this year. Then again, they may just reload and be a dominate force again...We will see!!

My vote goes to the South Garland QB. He was a soph playing like a senior this year and Riley is second.

That's a good pick #1 LP. Florence really gave that SG team a lift this year. Without him, they probably miss the playoffs.

Florence got better game to game. South seem to keep a good stream of athletes year by year. I hear they have a few very good ones from the JV. Scary!:(

Florence has more experience as a starting QB, so I will give him the edge over Riley D. for now.

IM not sayin he'll do great but Levi Mithchell at Katy is expected to start and throwin to Fuda would really help his confidence, he's already got an arm. During the playoffs when we didnt have to do anything the Qb's would see who could throw the farthest and Mitchel would win, but Dalton was always busy so he never got a shot. If I remember right the best for Levi was 68 but i know he got 65 a couple of times, i was the one who measured them all. Only problem with him is that when he's rushed he sometimes makes a bad decision but when he can plant his feet he can do some damage.

I've heard good things about Mitchell...but he's unproven. I think you have to give the edge to QB's that have experience, but it does raise an interesting question. By the end of next year there will be some great QB's that have no experience yet. not only will Mitchell have Fuda, his brother Joey and Bobby Knauss, don't forget that he will have Andre for the next two years...scary.

The thing is about mitchell, the way i see it, hes in a great position for a jr. Qb. Here are some recievers he gets to throw to for the next 2 yrs.

Michael Fuda(jr)-arguably if not hands down the best to come through Katy

Joey Fuda(soph)-turing into his brother but probably nevr as good

Ryan Doerr(soph)-not only the starting varsity punter but clutch reciver for levi on soph level

Brian Rowe(soph)-lazy but tremendous athlete when pushed, say when anothr player makes him mad

Bobby Knauss(jr)-extremely athletic moved from Qb b/c he knew he couldnt start over levi, levi has fun throwin to him and bobby has fun catchin them

Tyler Zimmerman, Frankie Olivio, and AJ....sry but i kant remember his last name(soph)-all are typical of Katy players athletic and get the job done

I would have to put my vote in for the young man thats playing at Clear Creek. Neil Warden put up some good numbers and helped turn the program around as a sophmore. As a junior this coming year and with his number one target coming back next season in Brooks, they should be fun to watch.

But you don't have anyone at Lufkin that you want to nominate...

Marcus Jackson? I am sure most of you saw him on T.V. vs Longview (it was a bad game for him). I am looking forward to our team making the playoffs.

I wish he wasn't there because they beat our District team Longview!

Claybon is good and his little brother is very good but not in the same category right now with your boy. 7 on 7 will tell how the QB's are doing.

A&M Consolidated has a pretty good junior QB for next fall...Domanic Preston (6-2,205,4.5). He quarterbacked the Consol JV to a district championship. He comes from good athletic blood-lines: the nephew of former A&M Consol bluechip QB Tommy Preston and is first cousin to Consol's WR Detron Lewis and Consol's RB Daniel Palmer.

how do you talk about a Qb without mentioning his targets. just trying to give a sample of the Katy air attack next yr if mitchell does impress the coach enough to throw it.

who will it be ?

Why didn't you just come right out and ask what you really want to hear? How many of you agree with me that Riley Dodge will be the best JR. quarterback next year?

There was a lot of discussion and criticism on this board regarding Coach Dodge platooning Riley Dodge with Greg McElroy during the regular season. However, since the SLC team improved so much during the year who can fault Coach Dodge? Not only that, rather than having a rookie Jr. QB next year, SLC has a QB that ran the ball 80 times for 665 yards, completed 33 of 53 passes for 508 yards, 7 TDs and 2 INTs. The platooning at QB didn't damage the team at all, but rather produced a new QB with at least some experience. Not only that, McElroy broke a few all-time records along the way even with the platooning. It appears the strategy worked this time.

I don't know if Riley will be the best next year, but he will be good and lot's of fun to watch.

Yeah I'm gonna have to go with Nick Florence. He seemed to get better and better as the year went along. He's keeping 3 of his top 5 WRs, 2 good RBs that will be juniors next year too and quite a few o-lineman. He was composed in the pocket and could throw on the run well. He could also beat you with his feet. He had 88 att. for 250 yards (that's counting sacks) and 7 TDs on the ground and through the air he was 145-268 for 2042 yards 9 ints and 12 TDs. He didn't start any of the non-district games.

I have another thread that relates to this...but I can see how the 7 on 7 tournaments this year will benefit some teams, especially the ones that have QB's with no varsity experience. No matter how good they are projected to be, they will need the experience of hooking up with veteren recievers.
They also will have the pressure on them of not measuring up to last years QB. Fans can be very hostile when things are going bad. Confidence early is going to be the key.
