Well, if you remember, #1 son went to Iraq in the first wave in 2003...he's scheduled to go back to Iraq for a year this fall now....and he got married last spring and they are expecting a #1 grandson in September.

He said there are plenty of Army wives who want their Obama vote back, now that he's realized that getting out of Iraq isn't going to be as easy as it appeared from the outside looking in while making all those wild campaign promises.

I freakin' told you guys last year, but you didn't listen, as a group....I told you.....;)

Hope he is safe. How does he feel and how has he avoided a second tour this long? Does he have any idea if his job will be the same different this go round?

He got back in 2004. He's about 6' 4" and has red hair, freckles, handsome young man, if I may say so myself, the girls love him and the boys follow him.....born leader and chick magnet.....

....so, the Army decides he would be a great recruiter...they convince him to try it.....he hated it....but he made a commitment.....then, he was so good at it, they wouldn't let him stop and get back to the infantry and kicking in doors, like he likes to.

Finally, they had kept him doing recruiting as long as they could, so he wen't back to infantry where he gets to blow up stuff and get dirty every day. That was in August of last year.

Now he is stationed in Ft.Drum New York, in the Mountain Division, right where he wanted to be. They train at altitude, just like he did when he was in the 4th ID brigade that is stationed at Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs that trains at altitude. ( the rest of the 4th ID was in Texas, but they had a brigade that trained at altitude in Colorado to support the rest of the mechanized units.....Michael was in that bunch)

I doubt that they'll be doing as much door kicking as they did the first time, but his MOS will be the same.

BTW.....#2 son, the one that was raising his two daughters and got sent to Afghanistan in 2005 for a year.....he just re-upped with the Army reserves, and after a long training period, just became a Dallas Police Officer about 4 weeks ago.

Go
I wish you son the best as he deploys back to Iraq.
I spoke to my brother earlier tonight who just made it home for good from his second deployment to Iraq. He joined the Army in 2004 and was deployed back in late 05 for the first time.
I have another real good buddy who is in the 82nd and he is going back next month for his 4th deployment. I wish your son Godspeed
