Interviewing for the Rice job as I type this.....Ryley will fit into any Houston area school pretty easily....

Why leave????? Even Carroll ISD can't match half a million clams....

I wondered where he'd be rumored to go this year. Rice sounds interesting though.

His son has two years of HS left. Why leave and put him into a new program that would not give him the exposure that SLC would? Dodge will try to make him stand out for a DI scholarship. Dodge has the opportunity to set new records in 5A during that time. He succeeds and he will be able to get a nice college offer. There will certainly be something lucrative available. Quite possibly better than Rice. Maybe he isn't interested in leaving ever? Hard to imagine though.

all we can really do for now is just sit and wait. personally i'll be shocked if he stayed. his 'stock' is so high right now, and next year is going to be one heck of a challenege for him. not saying he's just cowarding out of a tough year, but it seems the right time to leave.

This Rice thread makes it sound like Dodge is not even in their final 6.

If Dodge leaves, that means their quarterback leaves. I mean they are already losing a lot of players as it is. If he leaves who is going to be the coach?

he isn't leaving. maybe we could hire the sville asst with the stud qb son. joflo would be high on the list of candidates, imo.

I say start another thread on it...just to be certain everyone has had a chance to respond.

If and I mean if, dodge were to leave Carroll, I think JoFlo would stay at Ryan. He is making a lot of money in Denton and I know he is real high on his underclassmen. He has stated that he is expecting this current group of freshmen to contend for 2 state titles by the time they graduate. Of course Carroll is a huge program and one someone would have to seriously look at, I just dont see Florence leaving Ryan anytime soon.

I think Carroll should promote DC Mendoza to HC if Dodge were to leave. That guy has turned out some awesome defenses the last 2 years and has been at Southlake a very long time. I think he would pick up right where Dodge left off if given the chance to coach the Dragons.

From the same site as above.

"Under pretty good authority, Dodge called today and said he was not going to interview for the job. Let's hope we get Harbaugh."

So breathe easier SLC folks. Your man is still driving the bus. Besides, I would think that Rice Football would be a step down for him. The man has got to have some pride. IMO, Rice Boardmembers have never put their best foot forward for FB. Other sports sure, but football has had it's problems with brief moments of attention. Now in the same sense, I know the lure of being a HC for a D1 program has to be something of acheivement, but giving up what SLC has to offer wouldn't make any sense. Dodge is waiting for Uncle Mack to step down. ;)

I still believe he will have to be an OC before he gets a chance to be a head coach at a BIG TIME D-1 school. He will stay at SLC for 2 more years and then he will probably go to UT as the the OC. After that, I fully believe he will get his shot. One of the few HC positions on the D-1 level he could get now is a Rice type situation. I believe he is smarter than that!! MARK MY WORDS......."DODGE WILL COACH HIS SON FOR 2 YEARS AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE VERY SUCCESSFUL!!" After that, he will be fair game!!
