Compared to other programs in the state, this staff consistently manages to do less with more. I refuse to continue to believe that we have an elite coaching staff.

But you were so full of yourself through last week. (not the team......you)

OK that is your opinion, but still I dont see how they are a disgrace or let any one down. And to say that you hope that some of them read this is low down.

Yes, I agree fully with the statement that the Allen coaching staff does less with more. Let's look at the facts- Allen has the best or will have soon the best football facilities in the state, Allen has a wealth of talent and feeder program like no other HS in the state, and Allen has probably the best fan support out there. The other 8-5A schools share their talent between 3 or 4 other schools. Just by the set-up Allen should win the district every year. Almost any coaching staff could win with this system. However, the playoffs seem to tell a different story. Allen has lost many times in the playoffs over the last 10 years to teams with less talent. Why is that? and Why do parents and fans accept this every year and say"It was a good year and the guys worked their tails off" How did Southlake rattle off 5 state championships in a row? Answer-Championship caliber Coaching! Time for one to be at Allen. The current staff are district winning caliber. Wake up and demand and expect more. The players deserve it as well as the parents and fans!

I disagree. If this statement was true, they would have the players ready for every game. That did not happen this year. The coaching staff was a disgrace. They let the fans, and most importantly, the players down. I hope some of them are reading this, because they need to know that words cannot describe how bad they were. They should all be ashamed.

I thought high school football was supposed to be more than just about winning. One thing for sure, talk like this WILL get you a new coaching staff. There are many schools that would love to have the ones you have now. Permian comes to mind.

Which school do you propose to take this magical coaching staff from? Southlake? They haven't won the championship recently so they aren't any better than what you have now. Trinity? Our staff has only succeeded on a few odd years. Lineweaver has won 3 championships after coaching how many seasons at Trinity? Good thing we didn't fire him after losing on the even years.

It's not just about winning games. If that is all your coaching staff is interested in (to please the fans and supporters that demand it), your players will miss out on so much more to learn. Just saying.

OK let's look at the facts you have made 20 Total posts and not one has been positive. I had to call you out in 2008 for making an ignorant Troll post and 3 years later I am having to do it again...

You are either the most negative person on the planet or you are from Plano and not an Allen supporter at all.

Yes, let's look at the facts, The three plano schools have comparable enrollment numbers to Allen, but they have been dominated for a minimum of the last 6 years by Allen.

By your definition all three of the plano schools have the "System" that Allen has but, Apparently any coach can NOT win with the system because two of the three Plano teams can't even win enough to make the playoffs on a regular basis.

"Allen has lost many times in the playoffs over the last 10 years to teams with less talent." ???? You are all sizzle and no steak.

2002 Lost to Lufkin in the 2nd round who lost to the eventual state champs Southlake in the semi finals.

Ok, so I HEAR what all the complainers are saying.

The first four games of the season we were climbing
each week in the minds of objective observers. We held
Plano, who was 3-0 and people were thinking would contend
with us for district, to 110 total offensive yards. the next week
the whole dam broke wide open and the team wasn't the same after
that debacle.

I sit and wonder what could have happened.

Were we just lucky those first few games? Or, did something happen
with the mind set of the kids AND/OR coaching staff that led to the free fall?

I know in the beginning of a season the defense is ahead of the offense
until the O "finds itself" with timing, etc. is that why we were able to SHUT DOWN Longview, Northwest, and Plano? Had PESH just caught on the their
system and our D had piqued?

Is it just a match up issue that we allowed 500+ rushing yards to ET and Martin held them to 134 yds. ? Are Martin's players so much "better" than ours? OR, were their coaches better at seeing what was going to be in front
of them and devising a strategy to shut down ET(Heaven knows they didn't have to worry about a passing game!) ? Is there a reason why didn't just pass, pass, pass on ET until they proved they could stop us ?

Having been a DB in the ancient days . . . . . i've wondered why our defensive back field has always been so porous. I mean, as a unit, I can't remember ever shutting down another team's passing game. I mean, other schools are KNOWN for their defense and ours seems to show up and hope for a few stops. Why is that ? Is it the players? The coaches? The crappy Japanese turf at ES ?

The team that we all saw at Longview gave us all thrills up our spines that THIS WOULD BE THE YEAR THAT WE WOULD DOMINATE our opponents.
Am I correct?

What happened ? Who really IS responsible for the team that shows up out there each week ?

It is off season for us here in Allen, unfortunately. In the off season we all want to look and assess what we have and what we will do. I say "WE" because I BELIEVE that the football program wants the community to feel that the team is a "WE", or am I mistaken? There are a few of us that take this team very personally. Yes, I know it is a fault we share, but we receive a lot of joy following the team and get back from doing so . . . . what everyone gets back from a "hobby". Anyway . . . . so we look at the team and wonder what can be done better. I mean, we do expect this whole dealio to get better each year don't we. If not, there is no additional lessons that are being learned from the kids. "Well, we played well enough to win that's all that matters" just isn't good enough to me.

There have been a couple of "Prima Donas" on the team the last couple of years. These individuals come in and feel that they "are the team". They, as individuals, feel that they are MORE that the team is. I am wondering where the discipline is that would NIP that sucker in the bud from the get go ? Are our kids spoiled brats that expect to be handed everything on a silver platter?
Do we raise our kids to think too much of themselves and make it too difficult for them to think as a team?

OR

Could this team just not handle the pressure that was put on them to be #1 ?
Are we putting too much emphasis on winning? Are we trying to be something we are not ? Do we try too hard to compete with the Jonses and demand perfection ?

OR

Is it simply that we just don't have a coaching staff that can take us to that "ELETE" level and keep us there as a poster from another program has stated ?

I think it is good to look at all of these things. Especially, I feel that I need to look inside myself and determine what is most important to me... as a person.

If y'all have read my posts this season . . . . I stinkin' lost it after the PESH game ! I blew a gasket ! it was ugly.:o

Since we all post what we feel on here . . . . . I think it is good to read the posts and try to understand each poster rather than rip them apart. Heaven knows, I understand where each of you are coming from emotionally.

Alas, we have NO input as to what the team does OR doesn't do. We are simply observers.

Let's all get it out and talk as Allen fans.

We all know that there is plenty of frustration going around to keep us lit-up for a while ! ! ! !

GO EAGLES ! ! ! !

Went to the Martin Trinity game yesterday and to put things in perspective, IMO the great Lineweaver was outcoached.

A lot of people are saying that Allen's staff needs to do a better job of preparation. And that the boys didnt come out ready to play. I think some of this can be attributed to the lack of leadership in the locker room. You need vocal leaders to rattle some cages. I think this year's and last year's team was lacking in this area. No fault of the boys, I think you have to be born with this trait.

IMO, some people are natural born leaders and some learn to be. Either way, our parents and coaches can help foster leadership traits in their young men. Also, there are different leadership styles that can yield the same effect. Troy Polamalu is not a cage rattler in the locker room, but make no mistake, he is one of the leaders of the Pittsburgh Steelers. I do think there are several players in next year's senior class that can be effective leaders (albeit with different styles). A couple of them would be considered your typical cage rattler.

I am sure we had several seniors that led by example, playing hurt, and other ways. I do agree with you, that you can learn to be a leader also. I probably should have stated it that way originally. It seems we have lacked team chemistry, almost like the team has its little cliques. I have been thinking of something I heard Mike Krzyzweski say, if you take an open hand and hit someone it will be effective, but if you clinch your fist you will get better results....or something to that effect.

Jeremy Reeves had an outstanding game against K State. ISU should have won that game. You think maybe he had any influence on winning the state championship in '08 ??? GO ISU!!!

Jeremy Reeves- Iowa State @ the Pinstripe Bowl in Yankee Stadium. That "Freeze" that goes around the top of Yankee Stadium is pretty cool looking. In my personal opinion, he is one of the top 5 players to come out of the Allen program?

Excited today to see that Waco Midway where former DC Terry Gambill is the head coach is playing in the DII(?) 4A State Championship game next week. Hope they win it all! I live in Coach Gambill's old neighborhood and always found him to be nice, approachable and accommodating to my frequent "Go Eagles!" whenever I'd see him. I also always loved the play of both of his sons, Cody and Chase.

This team had heart, chemistry and class. There was something special about this team, that's why they stuck together in 7 on 7, in the weight room all summer, school, study sessions, lunches, dinners all year - not just during the season. They built a bond that was close, a clinched fist if you will. They had inspiration, motivation and talent - and most of all good coaching. I'm proud of these boys and what they've accomplished. Everyone is so frustrated with the "two and done" scenarios over the past years, but there are a lot of DIV I/5A schools that would take an 11 - 1 record every year.

Expectations are what have brought this and other teams down. Criticism of coaching, talent, drive and effort - they strike at the heart of the fears of these boys - that they are not good enough, that they didn't meet the expectations of the community once again - that they let everyone down. These are 15 - 18 year old BOYS, that are trying to balance out these high expectations on the field, with high expectations in the classroom, in the community, and in life. Worried, like all athletes about their grades, girlfriends, and college recruiters. I've seen these boys fight through pain, suffer through surgeries, concussions, the opressive summer heat, and spend hours in the training room, the film room, and dedicate themselves to meeting OUR expectations.

As far as I'm concerned, these boys have earned my respect and admiration. I'm dissapointed they did not go all the way, but not because I thing they SHOULD have, but because I wanted it for them, their coaches and us fans in the community.

I think everyone would be more a peace if we didn't create these inflated expectations, right down to the individual player - and enjoyed the sucesses they are able to achieve as part of one of the greatest high school programs in the U.S.

Allen Fans,

I saw that classy former coach of yours Todd Graham jumped ship at Pitt today for ASU and told his players via text message he was leaving. This is the 2nd time he jumped ship after 1 year (rice)and obviously is only concerned about a bigger paycheck and prestige and could care less about anyone else.

I remember when he left Allen to take a position at West Virgina as an assistant I believe he was able to convince a stud wide receiver from his last allen team to go with him to West Virginia. I am pretty sure it was a quid pro quo situation, "Get this kid to West Virginia and you can come along".

My question is what was that kids name this had to be 96 or 97. I keep thinking Perryman was his last name. Not sure. Anyone know?

I truly feel sorry for the man. He is the most narcissistic person I have ever met. It is a serious personality disorder. What he does, just feeds his disease. He truly feels he is doing/ and has always done the right thing. His wife has to be a saint to be able to put up with his egomaniac dribble. ;)

I am sure we will hear something after the first of the year.

Information we do have is on Sponsorship Partners for the Stadium and the Performing Arts Center (PAC).

It is planned to have 10 Founding Partners for the Stadium and 1 Founding Partner for the PAC.

The first two Founding Partner agreements were accepted at the December 12th Board Meeting.

SELECT Item #4 to play the Agenda Item Video: (http://allenisd.swagit.com/currentwin.php?refid=12122011-175#)

DFW Metroplex Cadillac Dealers I believe are the Founding Sponsors for the PAC. (Cadillac Stage)

Metro PCS is the First Founding Partners for the Stadium.

Initially the Agreements are for a 3 year term. Also there will be additional sponsorships at lower levels for Companies who want to be involved at a lesser monitary level.

Thanks Board, Way to go Jayne & Louise!!! Thanks for your hard work.

Thanks to Tim C and the folks at PPI.

Congratulations to Oliver on his verbal commitment to wrestle at OU! Here's the link to his story: www.allenwrestling.com

Allen did very well especially considering they were without their 113, 132 and 195 wrestlers. Keep an eye on one of the heavyweights, Sophomore Jose Arias. He has really improved on the mat and should contribute on the football field next year.

Nick and Stone did not wrestle at 220. Coach Best made them dual it out with Paper, Rock, Scissors and Stone won.

Anybody got any info about what we have coming up from the JV and Freshmen teams this year? Here are some of the boys I expect some things from this year. Grant Finney WR who had a cup of coffee with the varsity last year. William Rossy WR and KR from the freshman team. The Hinkley kid who played QB on JV might could see some time at receiver.

Dont know much about what we might have as far as the trenches go though.

Congratulations to the Allen Eagle Wrestling team for winning another state championship. This past weekend they won the Dual State Championship, next month they will attempt to win the Individual Championship also. I think it is pretty much a lock, potentially could have 7 of 14 weight classes champs coming from Allen.

Dear Bo Nickal,

Next time could you please take longer than 6 seconds to pin your opponent.

I caught the action because I was paying attention, but the lady in front of me said "My attention span is not sharp enough to catch that". Now dont' get me wrong, it was a thing of beauty, shoot the leg turn and pin!! :notworthy

Heck, at least Ollie took a minute thirty to rack up a 17 to 5 score before he pinned his opponent.:D

Congratulation to all the Allen wrestlers on a great Dual with Southlake Carroll. Congrats also to all the Sr. Wrestlers and their parents!

I was very very entertained by all the matches and I have to say Coach Westerberg looked like he was having a bunch of fun too watching all the boys show their stuff.

Final Score Allen 58 Southlake Carroll 12

Dallas Morning News Blog Story:

Allen wide receiver Andrew Rodriguez commits to Houston (http://highschoolsportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2012/01/allen-wide-receiver-andrew-rodriguez-com.html)

Corbett Writes:
Fleener had said last week in an e-mail that Rodriguez not having a Division I offer was one of the more perplexing and disappointing things he'd faced as Allen's recruiting coordinator. He was elated by the commitment.

"I'm on cloud nine," Fleener said. "It's an unbelievable feeling as a high school coach for a kid that you think has what it takes at the highest level, but doesn't come in the right size or shape, to finally get a chance like that."

Rodriguez will be a slot receiver in college, with legitimate 4.4 speed

Wes Welker size and appreciably faster than Welker. Stay healthy my friend!

If you have never been to the UIL State Wrestling Championships, it is well worth the drive to Austin next weekend. The crowd is divided into 2 camps, one for Allen and the other for whoever an Allen wrestler is competing against. The boys actually love being in that position.

The Author Michael Brick is a .... , Well, let's just say he writes for the NY Times.

The Moron compares our new stadium to St. Norbert College in Wisconsin!!! They Built a new Stadium in 2010 he writes, for 11.5 million. What he doesn't say is that the St Norbert Knight's Stadium holds a whopping 2,454 people and boasts a new paved parking lot that will hold 500 cars!!! I guess the throngs of fans mostly live on campus.

So, by my calculations:

St Norbert Stadium cost $4,686 per seat.

No Visitor side seats.... But the opponents do get benches on the sidelines next to the Wheat Field

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7209/6772957852_e762cf97b3.jpg

Allen High School stadium cost $3,311 per seat.

Plus we get a 10,000 sq ft fully equipped weight room and dedicated indoor practice areas for the wrestling team and the golf team

I'd say We kicked St. Norbert's value for your dollar arse!!

Thanks for the link!

Well I hear they are accepting sponsorships for the port -o- pottys so that we can have them permanent on the visitor side. It's only $1,500 for a two year sponsorship. :D

They also did not put toilets on the Press level, so they will have to take the stairs down to the film deck to hit the port -o- pottys down there. It's the new health and wellness initiative for Journalists.

Does anyone know of a seating map available to at least have a point of reference. Will of course also want to know where the band will be sitting.

The assignments are in I recieved mine yesterday, unfortunately I did not get all my tickets combined into one location.

An online seating chart would be nice. Even if it just had the section numbers and which side seat #1 is on for each section.

Looks like the lower sections all have 21 rows.

Looking at my assigned seats I think for yours it should be Section 102, Row F?

Aristotle said that 'Nature abhors a vacuum'

This idiom is used to express the idea that empty / unfilled spaces or un met needs are unnatural as they go against the laws of nature and physics.

Well I'm thinking that football fans abhor a vacuum also and since we don't have a Stadium seating chart... Right or wrong, Consider this as Nature filling the vacuum. The quicker we have a seating chart the quicker this can go away... :D

With a blind lottery again, and no priority being given to parents of new varsity players, I guess we'll be sitting on the visitor side cheering for our son. Guess this was just too hard to work into a plan for ticket allotment. I get the idea of equal access to all fans, but you can't make a quick 1-day distribution for parents of rising seniors?

We all know that coming up with what EVERYONE would consider a fair and equitable solution to this situation just isn't going to happen. Too many opinions as to what is fair as to what is not and too many people having different reasons for wanting tickets - all of which are most important to them. I just know that I made the effort 5 years ago and spent 4 days and nights in the hot summer sun camped out in front of the athletic office to be number 6 in line to get my season tickets and looking back, it was a good decision.

Supply and demand is a very tough economic principle as it relates to Eagle football for sure.....

I'm still split with my seats, I have a couple in 104 and a couple in 106. I will be looking to continue the consiolidation so I can try and get all the seats in one location.

The one thing I am hearing most is frustration on not being able to "group" seats together (Groups of friends bunching their seats together) outside of the upcoming two lottery system. This is going to require some creative thinking to accomplish with the system/process in place.

Of course after this coming season there may be a huge drop off in season ticket demand. As Allendad keeps saying, we've got nothing coming back... I just hope the Dargons have a little mercy on us.

My only hope is that this new modified Wing-T Offense is the start of a new era. It's the closest thing to the wishbone that I think an A&M Former Student turned HS coach could ever bring themselves to implement!!

I have to tell you I have seen some of the plays and even a Bay City, 3 back set, it could be a thing of beauty or if the O Line can't get the speed to make the blocks it could be a disaster. I guess we will see against Southlake. I'm hoping their losses at LB help our Wing-T take flight!!

I wouldn't be so sure about the lack of availability of seats for new ticket holders including new varsity parents.

1. We have 2500 existing seats spread between current season ticket holders.
2. The first lottery for current season ticket holders only allows them to move their seats around, but NOT to get any additional seats.
3. There are a minimum of an additional 2500 seats that will be available for the "New Seats" lottery.
4. The "New Seats" lottery will allow a max of 4 seats per person signed up.
5. 2500 / 4 = 625 people minimum who will get to obtain new/additional season tickets.
6. There will be 3000 additional General admission seats that could be partially converted to season tickets depending on demand.

I think the only way someone who wants season tickets doesn't get them is if they don't sign up at all.

Do other schools give priority to players parents?
Carroll does not, we also do not have a lottery, we have to camp out all night and get in line. It is pretty fun sort of a rite of passage. No preference given to anyone. There is a section in the lower section of the stadium for senior parent participants but it is general admission meaning there are not enough seats for every senior parent but it is an option if they want to get their early and grab a seat there if they do not have season tickets. You can put your cushion down and then go out to the parking lot to tailgate. We allow folks to go in and out which works out well, you can grab a beverage at half time out of the cooler.

I know you have much more experience than I with Allen football from the inside, but I think you may be short-selling the community on demand. With a greater hope of obtaining tickets, I foresee a couple thousand applying, along with those existing ticket-holders wanting more and re-entering the lottery. Band parents that traditionally fill up the endzone will definitely be signed up.

Also, don't discount the age-old practice of buying more than you need and selling the excess to pay for your season tickets. For the initial game, I predict a secondary market for the SLC-ESPN game, at premium prices. We've already seen multiple HS football fans on this board willing to drive from all over the state for this game.

Any guess of how many the fire marshall will allow in the stadium that night, including SRO?

I may be living in a fantasy land but my assumption is that since the number of reserved seats is more than doubling, everyone who puts in for the lottery will be able to get seats. I could be wrong but I certainly think the odds will be much better than in previous years.

I don't have any idea how many the fire Marshall will allow for the first game with the Dragons. If it is on a Friday I think that cuts down on attendance and it may not be an issue.

I can't argue with your prediction of a couple thousand applying for the lottery to get tickets. This is all uncharted territory we are traveling. I think we had close to 400 sign up for the last lottery trying for less than 100 tickets.

I think many people did not even bother to sign up with the slim odds of being picked in the top 50.

As for buying more than you need, I think that will still go on, but there will likely be a glut of extra tickets available for most games based on the interest level of past games at the old stadium. I do not see much of a secondary market for reselling tickets like in previous years.

I do hope they implement some type of online electronic ticketing system that could be used to not only sell General admission /visitor seats, but also make the home suide seats that are not going to be used for a game available for purchase. I think I know the answer to that question, but I can still hope.

I am just encouraging folks to try and stay positive. There are going to be folks who are not happy with the outcome of this process. I'm just hoping that can be kept to a minimum and that folks like yourself with more of a vested interest can watch their kids play from some good seats!

With the speed we will have at WR and the uncertainty of the hands to catch the ball. The Flex Bone sounds like a viable option(pun intended).

Actually not a bad idea against Carroll, in the Hal era we have traditionally started slowly, Dodge as well but he always scheduled a not very difficult non district schedule.
Early in the season teams that run the zone read have traditionally given us fits, see Copperas Cove the last two years and while you do not have an Orlando Thomas you guys will have more talent across the board than they do, so while you are joking it might need a bad idea given your QB who is pretty athletic. I do not know how good of a passer he is but it is going to be more difficult given his vertical challenges of course they can move him out of the pocket as opposed to dropping back.
Just checked rivals and they have Pierce listed at 5'10", is that accurate, he certainly did not look that tall in the playoffs last year?

They say if you measure your height in the morning, you are at your tallest because of the fluid built up in your spinal column. I guess they measured OP about 1:00am:D

The kid is a great athlete, given who his dad is he would have to be in shape.:D
I am assuming most of the interest from colleges is for wrestling. That is not a slight about his football ability but he is one of the top wrestlers in the country.
The first game of the season is going to be interesting with all that we have to replace and you guys always have a ton of talent. Keep feeding those offensive linemen. You guys ready for a new coach yet?

Indeed he is committed to OU on a wrestling scholarship. He has some good football ability and oviously I would rather see him as a slot receiver than QB. That said, going into spring ball concensus opinion is he gives us the best chance to win. His experience, tenacity, and head for the game make him a potent force.

Your statement about Always having a ton of talent applies to both of our teams. Most folks I have talked to think that the Dargons do the best job of developing that talent for specific positions of just about any team in the state. So, it makes it tougher for your fans to Sandbag! :D

My bright Spot is the offensive line for the Eagles! They seem to be on the up slope of the performance/talent curve (Thank Goodness). I hear we've signed a new agreement with Patterson Meat Processors for raw meat to keep the animals on the line happy!!

Dingo I gotta give it to you for bringing your Georgia roots into this offensive scheme thing. I guess I pictured you as more of a Richt / Bulldog Fan...

I do like the Flex Bone and I'm not sure if it is that much more difficult to execute than the sweep / Buck Sweep is. This being High school and all maybe its best if we keep it simple. We're not Carroll you know! ;)

I mean the expectations for thier offense this coming season are off the charts. I'm just glad we don't have that to deal with.:heli:

I do like Mark Richt and think he is as good off the field as on. But to say anything good about them Dawgs would leave a taste of vomit in my mouth. Unless that is if some of our future talent were to go to UGA, then and only then would I hope them any success.

We are ramblin wreck fans in our home as my father in law went to Georgia Tech and of course Johnson was the HC at Navy.

You guys should try the wing T.:D

Actually for the first game you guys should run your offense as you have for years and then realize you might have to make some adjustments. We have defended your offense pretty well in the past and we need all the help we can get. Our D line is tiny and we have all new linebackers so dealing with your o line is going to be an issue, any chance that you guys can have them put on more weight than last years line?

I was watching them yesterday. They put down these huge bags of pellets and a machine rolls over them and 'melts' them into a layer of 'padding'. They will put the turf on top of this and THEN, I believe, the smaller pellets will go on. I'm SURE it is a new fangled system. I mean, we saw how great the "state of the art" turf was at the old place.

It's pretty cool to see the process from ground up.

Do not care about foxes at all. All I care about are "The Foxes" the highly trained ones which we have hidden away so we can free them when necessary. Rumor has it that no one feels it necessary to bring them to the Allen game. It is non district and we already know we are going to get our butts kicked. Now if it is televised we will have the foxes available and we will win in that instance as the exposure and the win will help our recruiting efforts. Our budget is in the toilet with Robin Hood and the $8 million deficit our ISD has for next school year.
I will never forget some of the posts after the skyline game and especially on their face book page where people actually claimed to see the cages we brought them in and saw people release them.
I really thought we did a better job of hiding them.

Hopefully enough time has past where those Skyline people will realize how crazy the idea is of releasing foxes, of all things, would have been.

As far as y'all "getting your butts kicked", well . . . We can dream, but it will sure be fun to have a game so early in the season with that kind of attention. The house will be rockin with people from all over the place. Should be lots of fun.

I saw the running backs coach trying out 10 kids at the FB position yesterday. He was trying to teach them how to do a simple 'dive' play', but not one of them could hold onto the ball, soooooo I'm not sure how the running game will be next season!:(

I think they are trying everything they possibly can to find something
That will work. For whatever reason, the offense is just in a state of chaos !
Spring ball will be a make or brake proposition for what happens this fall. I saw one set where they had double TE's and 3 RB's in there. Desperate times require desperate measures !

I know right? Pierce under center is one of the things I am looking forward to the most. It's gonna be the next best thing to a cross between William Cole and Brandon Carter running the offense except a little more Caucasian...

There is going to be a whole lotsa more talk about Fullbacks, Wingbacks and Tailbacks in our future. I'm taking the proactive approach to all this running Offense by studying up on the Offense and all the schemes / formations.

I think Harris /Ward can switch off between Fullback and tailback at will. I'm just trying to figure out which of the kids would make for a better wingback. I'm going to go out on a limb and Guess either Lamb (Taller but not as quick) or Adams getting converted from D or even getting double duty because of his speed.

I'm afraid that we are not going to see as much of the final offense during spring ball though. Once again it's gonna be basics and boring.

We have Swedish super models that serve us our beverages..... Pouring them from crystal decanters right into our mouths. "We don't need no stinking' cup holders" ! ! ! !

We've been trying to tell you guys over there . . . . . There is NO WAY that we can compete with your digs and the fare y'all offer the spectators at your games. We're just country hicks trying to imitate Plano, but we just can't do it 'cuz we ain't got the class. We ain't got the class so there's no way we can pass.( the ball that is)

I have a non football related question and I hope it comes out ok and not anti religion. I was raised Catholic and went to church every Sunday otherwise you go to hell. We were there for about an hour and a half, now understand we knelt and stood and sang and did a lot of other crazy stuff especially during lent but even if we went to the noon mass we were home by 2.
How long do you folks spend at church?
What goes on there all day.
If Westerberg goes to your church tell him to get his a$$ home and learn some big game day speeches or something. For a good bottle of scotch I will inform you guys how we got Hal over the hump but non disclosures need to be signed.
That is also one of the reasons I tried to schedule for Saturday.
I just know I can get all the guilt and a big dose of Christianity in on a Sunday morning and still be liquored up by noon or one o'clock especially during football season. I am an early riser though.
Now do not get me wrong I know the Lord and I should spend a lot more time together but even he is a football fan (see Notre Dame).
Obviously lots of tounge in cheek but I always wondered what folks do at church all day.

We aren't in church all day on Sundays. We try to treat the sabbath as a different day than the rest of the week. We don't shop or spend money on Sunday. We try and make the sabbath a day that helps us remember Our Father, rather
Than our own desires. We try and keep the sabbath holy and not just a day off.
With that being said, I don't want to come across as a self-righteous crank . . . Just sharing as to why I don't do restaurants and movies and stuff on Sunday.

I heard that since Kenny committed to A&M . . . Westerberg has decided to ALLOW SLC to go ahead and win the game on the 31st, it bein his alma mater and all ! ! !

Westerberg is Methodist, so they get out in time to beat us Baptist to the good restraunts:D. As for the good game day speech pay off, does SLCdragonfan get to pick out the bottle of Scotch? I might have to save up to make that purchase.

I get into town Monday morning and have to leave

Monday afternoon and evening to be with family, etc.

My buddy tells me that he wants me to go with him to

My problem with this is that I wanted to watch the kids
Have their first spring practice in pads Monday afternoon.

Nice guy, good offensive coordinator(most of the time) good with the players etc, but not an elite coach. You guys should have at least one more SC and in the very least a lot more deeper runs than you have IMO. There is always the talent there and to an unintelligent outside observer such as myself it has to come down to game plan. I have seen good execution but not a game plan that takes advantage of obvious mismatches, again they are obvious to me and I am a complete football idiot. :D

My little man got 9 flags and the Horns won it 13-0. They moved the ball really

Has anyone been out to the field to check out what we got
For a team this fall ?

I've snuck out there about 5 times and watched what is what.

What a great opportunity for all these underclass men to get out here
And get instruction from the varsity coaches. Many of these youn men
Are very impressive in their hustle and tenacity. With all the revolving doors at
Positions, it's hard to find anyone that might land a starting role in August.

Maybe they'll be good in 2013 !

Great night for practice last night, and good size crowd. There were an enormous number of college recruiters on the sidelines too, which is a good sign for the talent on the team.

Defense is ahead of the offense, which isn't all that surprising at this point. I thought the o-line looked really good. I don't recall a pass play by either the 1's or 2's that was disrupted by a blown o-line assignment.

The QB situation is what it is. Oliver ran the 1's and Connor Greenberg ran the 2's. On the inside zone read, Oliver is clearly the better talent and he also had a nice roll out completion for a TD with a very well placed throw in the late part of the practice. Greenberg was much better than Oliver throwing the ball last night but lacks mobility. He reminded me of Morris a little, except Greenburg is pretty skinny and not as polished at this point. There was a third kid who wore number 2 that played well at times too. My guess is that this will take some time to sort out and we may even see some 2 QB system. Who knows.

The one thing I will say is that Westerberg and company run an unbelievably organized practice and treat those kids well. They coach, not scream, and clearly know what they are trying to accomplish with every rep. There were probably 350 kids on the sidelines (with the 2 JV teams and Varsity) and I saw no screwing around. Very impressive at the high school level, and frankly why every time I hear some fool say "we better win state or get a new coach" I think there's at least one too many idiots living in Allen.

Yep - guess that would be your opinion. Organization and treating kids well, sending numerous kids to college on scholarship every year. Creating an environment to learn life skills that will carry over to the inevitable day when football is no longer a part of a kid's life. That's a successful high school coach to me.

Yep, the Escadrille will be over 800 kids this year.

People outside of Allen think we are stupid for having that many
kids in our band. I, for one, LOVE IT ! 850 kids that have the chance
to be part of something OTHER than themselves is what every adolescent needs in their life. The fact that we have what, 5600 kids in the school . . . and 850 kids in the band ? I have a lousy Southern Californian edjamacation, but . . . . 850 outta 5600 equals . . . . . well, let's just say 15% of the student body will be a member of the "Band". WHat school in the whole country can say that ?????? NONE !

I think that is a GREAT opportunity for children to explore music . . . which, has a tremendous positive effect on their learning other subjects.

Yes, the band will march from the band hall to the games. Can you imagine 850 kids(and 100 goober picture taking parents) marching along Rivercrest to the stdium and then entering playing Macarena ! ! ! ! ! ! ?

www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIH2OPFeCzw

That right there will be a beautiful thing and a tremendous tradition to start !
(And also save 10's of $1,000's in busing expenses each year !)

I heard last night that the UIL band competition(regional) will be held at the new Eagle Stadium this fall and will be a 4 day event.

For acrappy little train stop between Dallas and McKinney . . . . we might just become sumthin one of these days ! ! ! !

GO EAGLES ! ! !

(even if we ain't got NUTHIN ! ! !)

Yep - guess that would be your opinion. Organization and treating kids well, sending numerous kids to college on scholarship every year. Creating an environment to learn life skills that will carry over to the inevitable day when football is no longer a part of a kid's life. That's a successful high school coach to me.

Hey "Win", welcome !

I think he was stating that an organized practice doesn't really show
what is going on with the O than what the coaches WANT the public to see.

"The 'Berg" is having Coach Fleener direct the offense this year. He will be using his talents to see 'over' the program as a whole rather than have the O use up so much of his time, as in years past.

I'm excited to see what Coach Fleener has to bring to the Taj-M'Allen this year. I truly believe we will be pleasantly suprised with what will happen on the O side of the ball once all these new kids get what is going on and gel together.

The D, well . . . . The Cainster got them all whipped into a frenzy ! ! ! ! There are out right FREAKS over there on the D-Line . . .

F R E A K S, I tell ya ! This group of DB's will be the fastest we have ever had.

It is too bad we ain't got NUTHIN' ! ! ! ! !

Man, this sucks ! ! ! !

GO EAGLES ! ! !

PS, Oh yeah, did y'all check out that run that the ROSSY kid had last night when he took a slam right to the jaw and continued forward for more yards ? The kid is only a FRESHMAN ! ! ! ! ! ! CRAP, we ain't got nuthin' ! ! ! !

Those are all very noble things, but feel you are missing some of the equation when you overlook the positive aspects of the results on the field. Winning isn't everything, but it is definitely one of the goals. If it wasn't, then there wouldn't be any point to playing.

And doesn't our current staff measure pretty darn high by all of those standards? We moved here in 2008 and in that time the football team has won a State Championship and only lost a handful of games in those four seasons. There is a waiting list for season tickets (and there was in the old stadium as well). ESPN broadcast one of our games last season and may do so again this season (or so the rumor goes). The team is consistently very very good, and the losses in playoffs have been close games to powerhouse teams as well.

After watching this forum for so long I looked forward to joining to talk about the upcoming season and team, not necessarily talking about the merits of retaining the coaching staff. But fellas - IT IS REALLY HARD TO WIN A TEXAS 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. We've recently done it and been wildly successful in the seasons since. WE HAVE IT PRETTY GOOD, and lots of teams (probably every one of them in our new district) would love to have had our successes. Let's not abandon the wife to chase the new girl in accounting - that rarely ends well.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, obviously, but this staff gets my support with or without another state championship or deep playoff run. If we get to the point that we are not competitive or the boys aren't prepared, etc., then let's talk about change. We make a change and bring in a hot head former college coach who thinks he's the smartest guy in town and throws kids around on the sidelines while cussing them, then I will be out front with a petition for a new coach.

BEST POST I have read on this site in a looong time!!!;)

All the ones you mentioned, yes.

ESPN broadcast one of our games last season.Yes. Not our best performance.

This team is consistently very, very good, and the losses in playoffs have been close games to powerhouse teams as well.Did you see the Trinity game last year? It was close on the scoreboard, but the play on the field told a different story.

This staff does a very good job, but I will not accept anyone telling me that we have an elite staff. We could do much worse, however we could also do better. I understand your postion, but I'm not buying it 100%.

Welcome "Win". I also believe that you dont need to chase the new girl in accounting, but it would not hurt the current gal if she gets some touch up and uses her gym membership. The expectations from a fans stand point have not been reached since the championship. That doesnt necessarily mean we need to call for a lynching. I just would like to see some retooling in how things are delegated.

Tell your defense to watch out when Olie calls out the audible "Elevator".....remember he was 5 of 6 for 172 yards in the practice the other night!

Welcome to the board. It's always nice to get new contributors.

It was a very nice night for some football practice. The crowd was very large even rivaling the crowd at the traditional Spring Game (scrimmage). The Town, Program, and interest from the fans continues to grow.

The Scouts coming out is always nice and it’s nice that there have been about as many scouts at this practice as there have been at the normal practices. Some regulars are there more than others and there seems to be a bigger influx and of variety of schools since the 2008 Championship. It is definitely a good thing for the kids and the coaches!!

Defense was definitely ahead of offense, but that is almost always the case this time of year and especially with the talent that we lost on offense. I have always been underwhelmed with overall performance of the team in spring practices and the spring games. For me it is more of a chance to see how individual players have grown and matured since the end of the season. So I think it's healthy to try and look at mainly the bright spots without putting on the rose tinted shades.

I’ll agree with you on parts of the O Line play (pass protection was good ) but we should all understand how much more important the run blocking is going to be this season and in that area they did not look so stellar. Part of the credit for that goes to the defense front men and the LBs.

On the bright side, the starting O line has so much more potential than last year, I am very encouraged. North just has that “I WILL FOLD YOU OVER AND PANCAKE YOU!!” look to him. At Center I am expecting some very consistently high level play. Our Mississippi Man Child is doing well, I think he understands the higher level of conditioning, practice, and play in Texas 5a ball. Our “New” Freshman running back did a great job of filling in and showed he can take that big hit and keep truckin!! I think more than a couple scouts have put him on their watch list.

Tripucka was looking very good at Tight End and Not sure of the name but #18 was making some great catches and really laying out there to snag the ball.
On the QB side I have to disagree with you. I did not like most of what I saw from either QB. So is Greenberg was better at passing than Oliver it had to be relative cause I saw a bunch of over and under thrown balls from both.

On the defensive side, I just loved the intensity and I think Bonds is one of the ring leaders there. Between him and Radcliff (sp) the opposing centers are gonna be steppin and fetchin to seal up the middle of the field. I foresee many hurried and errant snaps this season. The Linebackers are great again this year and the DBs should be the best in many many years. Adams is going to be a force and made some great plays and with Hartsfield and Cooper we have a bunch to look forward to.

We had a bunch of kids out, but that doesn’t bother me especially this time of year. It is clear the kids have been hitting the weight room. It’s amazing what some hard work and a positive attitude will do for ya!

As for the coaches, I think they need to fire the whole lot of em!! Too dang many Aggies out there. Now that they’ve gone to the SEC they think they’re legit again. Face it the SWC is dead, never gonna recapture those glory days ;) :D
