Another summer dawns and it seems we have a fair share of decent movies to view in 09.
From Terminator salvation, GI Joe, and the new Transformers sequel. Its safe to say it looks promising. What films are some of you fellow poster anticipating to see this summer?
For me I've been waiting for a while to see terminator salvation.

Is it just me or does Terminator look an awful lot like Transformers?
Took the boys to X-Men today. We all liked it, although the $45 for 3 guys to get a seat, soda, and candy or popcorn left a bad taste in my wallet.

I don't know. I'm not a Trekkie nor do I know of any but the previews make it less Trekkie-ish and more serious sci-fi-ish.

I love Where the Wild Things Are. Gonna have to check out that flick.
The one I am excited about is Johnny Depp as John Dillinger.
I want to see "The Hangover"

I saw X-Men this weekend. My gosh does Riggins look good outside of Dillon, Texas;);). I sense a Gambit sequel.
Star Trek looks good. Love and adore Simon Pegg so I'm looking forward to that.
GI Joe, which opens right after Comic Con should be a big hit there before it opens. I hope Quaid shows up! That will have to be one of my priority panels if they are there...which means standing in line for 6 hours but, hey, it's near the water and in San Diego!!
Haven't heard much on Harry Potter. I'll go see it either way but usually there is such a clamor over it.
I saw the preview for Where the Wild Things Are. While I love and cherish this book, the movie preview was not interesting.
"Up" is another one that looks good. Love the storyline. I had seen the trailer at Comic Con 2008 (some still in the pencil drawn, pre-computer stages) and have looked forward to it since.
So, what happened to Phoenix btw - why was he banned?

Been looking around they want to make several spin offs, magneto origins is due 2011-2012 and there has been talk about giving gambit his own. Which they better because gambit is still the best mofo!

I should know more once I go to Comic Con this summer. The studios go there and they always have info on their new or upcoming movies within the next 2 or 3 years. Often they are giving out promo packs or bags too which is cool.
Gambit was AWESOME - just not enough of him in the movie.

Saw Star Trek, and overall I enjoyed.
I missed a few punch lines and inside jokes considering i never really watched the series or followed it much.
Good movie all in all.
I saw Star Trek with my dad and I thought it was hands down the best action/sci fi movie I've seen in years. Unlike a lot of the Star Trek movies the plot actually made sense and I thought the acting was superb. I'm not a big Star Trek buff but I've watched some of the movies and caught some of the jokes... some not though. I thought the cast/crew was picked very very well and did a great job representing the characters from the original show. The only qualm I had really was with some of the science they used in the movie but to void spoiling anything I won't mention anything specific.
My friend bought me a ticket to see it at the IMAX tomorrow in return for helping him move out of his apartment so I'll be seeing it again. (I would have done it for free but he offered.) My girlfriend gets home from UNT Friday and I think she wants to see it so I might end up seeing it three times.

Star Trek was very, very good. I saw it the other day. I also saw a preview for the G.I. Joe movie which frankly looks like it is going to suck. I won't spend any money on it. Transformers and Terminator will be maybes, with Terminator probably more likely to get my cash.
I still think that Public Enemies, with Johnny Depp as Dillinger looks like the best movie that is going to be coming out this summer.

List of movies i want to see this summer
Night at the Museum (the smithsonian one)
The Hangover
Transformers 2
Angels and Demons
Maybe the Terminator movie
Not as many movies as i thought there would be.
Oh yeah public enemies too. Looks real good.

Year One looks to be absolutely freaking hilarious. I like both of those actors. I'll go see that one.
I was more than impressed with Star Trek. I liked it a lot, and I am not a Trekkie by any stretch of the imagination.

Yeah. There are a lot of great young actors in that movie plus Jack Black who I love.
Star Trek was amazing. I've seen a few movies because my dad is a fan, not a Trekkie but just a fan of the series, and this movie completely blew me away. I have been wanting to see more ever since I saw on Saturday and I'm going to see it today at the IMAX. Such a great movie. I can't imagine Terminator being able to match that.

Star Trek was to me the best movie version by far...the special effects are unreal, and the older Spock (Leonard Nemoy) scenes are very touching..New Spock (Syler from Heroes, Zachary Quinto) is perfectly cast. All the younger versions of the old crew were great. Great summer flick that we don't get enough of anymore.

Got see," Angels and Demons" today, and it wasn't bad just long felt it was somewhat of a repeat of the first one with just a new longer story.
Terminator Salvation comes out next.
Must say though i do enjoy seeing the previews for future upcoming movies.

Just got back from seeing Star Trek. Yes it was good. It seems as if this flick was made for the old, new and 'tweener' Star Trek fans. The story moves well, there's lots of action and no whales or polar bears were saved...well maybe all of them were saved but I'm not writing a spoiler.

Thanks, that is soon. I always forget about a movie because I saw the preview 6 months earlier. We don't go to the movies like we used to. It is to expensive for the quality. I am old enough to remember when a movie was considered a cheap date.

Believe it or not, the studios will put a few in there to get the PG rating instead of the G rating. A G rating means that people think of the film as a straight kiddie flick and so it's less likely to draw slightly older kids and a certain type of adult. Slap a PG rating on a film and you'll draw more people in, while still not scaring away the family movie goers. Especially with a flick like that which really isn't just a straight kids movie. The same thing frequently happens when studios make an attempt to upgrade what would be a PG to a PG-13 just to get teenagers in the door. Mrs. Bird and I will probably go watch it, though. We thought about going to the late show on Sunday but we got tired.
