once again we have differing opinions.; his version of choctaw bingo is much better than McMurtrys IMO. I also love to hear him belt out Mississippi Flush

Lots of the younger generation are discovering The Wylie Lama. His Greatest Hit remains Up Against The Wall Redneck Mothers. He is an Okie. ;)

I'm not a country music fan by ANY stretch but I do like the Texas Outlaw gang - Hubbard, Jerry Jeff, Willie, Waylon, etc. My brother in law is a big Joe Ely fan and once he and I were driving to San Antonio and we listened to him all the way. He's not too bad either. I'm also a fan of old school like Bob Wills.
I just think that contemporary mainstream country is years behind everyone else, not truly talented and they copy from the pop/rock genre too much and ruin what they are copying. And, anyone can be a country singer - just look at Julianne Hough as an example. She's cute (but a dingbat) but she needs to stick to dancing.
EDIT: I had added a song quote and misquoted it so if anyone caught that before I could delete it - just chalk it up to - well, let's blame it on Obama!! LOL

Is there a big lake named after him between Rowlett and Rockwall? And a town named with his middle name just east of Sachse?

FarmerFan,
I think we talked about this once but yeah, I am. Had supper with him and his wife a couple of times...great guy and as down to earth as he could be.

I've been well. There's a little more gray in the beard but since insurance pays for Viagra, life is pretty dang good.
