I think this'll really benefit Matt Ryan in keeping him from a sophomore slump next year...

Gonzales will undoubtedly be a security blanket for Ryan. They gave too much for him, though. As recently as this morning reports were he was going nowhere because nobody was offering more than a third. Who gives a 2nd for a 33 year old? I think this was the lesser of two evils, though. Atlanta would have been better off going after Pettigrew in the draft but to get more him would have had to move up. Depending on where that move was to they would have sacrificed at least a second. The difference is Pettigrew would still be there when they're ready for a SB run. Gonzales won't.

i agree with slc93...this year's draft is loaded with tight ends at the top...makes no sense to get an aging superstar who probably only has a good season or two left.
