I have two questions that are truly useless questions, but what the h*** the football season is over.

First question:
SLC played 4 undefeated teams in the playoffs this year:
Abilene, Plano, Lufkin and Katy.
A playoff team in the current UIL set up will either play 5 or 6 playoff games to win. I am sure some team has played all undefeated teams (5 or 6 depending on when the playoff occurred and which division played under the new split division system). What teams have only played undefeated teams in the playoffs to win a championship?

Second Question:
SLC played the following teams in its 2005 season to win state, each having the indicated number of prior championship seasons:
Midland Lee 3
Denton Ryan 2
Grapevine 2
Abilene 6
Plano 7
Lufkin 1
Katy 4
______________
Total 25

If I got those numbers wrong it wasn't intentional, so just let me know. SLC's opponents had 24 prior state championships. I doubt that is a record.
Does anyone know what team faced teams with more prior state championship wins in a season?

It is impossible to play six playoff games against undefeated teams because in the first round the district champion matches up with a team that did not win district. I am not sure about the rest of the playoffs, but I think that 5 is the maximum

No, the ultimate winner could be in the runner up slot. And in the old days only district champs were in the playoffs, but that would have been five games max I think.

anyone who has had plano, permian, and judson in the po's maybe. since plano has the most success against permian, but only has 1 loss in one try to coju, that isn't it. i'm betting this number is probably a record. on the first question, it too may be the best overall record for opponents faced in the po's. back when only one team went from each district, there could have been more undefeated teams by averages.

Depending on how you count them... Temple's 1992 5A - Div II State Champs faced a combined 27 prior state champions (and counting today it would be 31)

Permian - 6
San Angelo Central - 2
Converse Judson - 3 at the time, (6 as of 2005)
Tyler Lee - 0 at the time, (1 as of 2005)
Waco - 6
Killeen - 1
Bryan - 1
Huntsville - 2
Lake Highlands - 1
Amarillo - 4
Houston Yates - 1

Total - 27 (31 as of 2005)

Thanks WOS87. You could never find that kind of information without the internet. I think I shorted Katy. They have had four champion years. '59, '97 '00 and '03.
