I agree that Lovie Smith is going to win the NFC Coach of the Year hands down because he has a defense that has been able to keep his team in games when the offense is playing poorly. He turned the defense that was one time almost one of the worst in the league to the best in the league.

I think the AFC Coach of the Year is really going to be a tough one to call. Marvin Lewis has completely turned his team around on both sides of the ball and has one of the best offenses in the league. Carson Palmer has really turned his game around and is now going for MVP honors. He also has 30 TD's this year which is a franchise record. Lewis also has one of the best defenses in the league that has over 20 INT's. I really think he is one of the top candidates for this award.

Tony Dungy, the head coach of the Colts, is also one of the candidates for AFC Coach of the Year in my book. He has lead the Colts to almost an undefeated season until the loss to San Diego last night. He also has one of the defenses that has surprised many of us this seasson that is one of the best in the league. I think it's going to be hard to call but I give the edge to Dungy.

I would have said Mike Holmgren but he should have been doing this with Seattle for a couple of years now...he has had the talent.

You have to throw in Bill Belicheck in the discussion. Look what the Pats have overcome this year. Its rediculous that the Pats are 9-5 with all their injuries. If the PATS had any other coach they wouldnt be close to 9-5.

I am not so sure. They played in the AFC east and 8 wins by the pats would have locked up that division and gotten them a playoff spot.

AFC - Marvin Lewis (Awesome.....this team went 8-8 the last 2 years and finished 2-14 just 3 years ago! Great job Marvin! Lookout for the Bengals in the playoffs....they're hungry!)

NFC - Lovie Smith (You guys may not grasp how hard it is to be successful in the NFL with an inexperienced QB....or just no offense, period! Defenses should destroy that type of team/offense.....but Lovie's defense has dominated in the mold of the 85' Bears!)

Lovie Smith and Tony Dungy. If the Cowboys don't do it.. the Bears are my team... I love that defense and espescially Urlacher.

Everyone knew that was coming.

AFC- Marvin Lewis
NFC- Lovie

I would give it to Mike Holmgren, but like footballjunkie said, he should have been doing this for a long time. And I would love to see hiim actually win a playoff game without Brett Farve.

Yea, every did. But comeon you have to throw him in the conversation. Like you said look how many injuries they have, and how they have overcome them.

Oh, and by the way "thug" did you catch the PATS shut down the Bucs rushing attack, hell did you see the PATS shut down the BUCS entire offense?

the bears seem to ALWAYS have a great defense, this year its just THAT good that everyone notcies them!!
always have a sucky offense, and to be a divison leader, and to beat good teams such as falcons, panthers, tampa bay..i think Lovie deserves this award, hes done such a great job with this bears team, a rather young team, with no offense and put them in a great spot to do things, also bold move to put in Rex, im glad he did it orton was doing NOTHING! lets see how this works out

Why the Orton bashing?? I mean he is not spectacular but he was 10-3...not bad for 4th round pick and a rookie. Doing better than #1 pick over in San Fran;) No surprise Lovie has a good defense...he was a defensive coordinator.

rex grossman came out and did nothing. he threw and int. and the bears were very fortunated to get it back. grossman did throw a good pass to muhammed, but the bears are in trouble, without a qb.

im a bears fan, and i just could not stand seeing orton in there..he wasnt 10-3...he was 9-4...

i for one am glad to see grossman back, before the injury hes showed lots of promise, and orton wasnt doing anything, so glad to see some change, plus the change "pumped" the veterans up somewhat..Muhamad, said he came to chicago because of GROSSMAN

Rex Grossman was a weak armed QB that fit in Steve Spurrier's system at Florida. He is not much better than Danny Wuerfal and If you think he will lead the Bears to the promise land you are smoking. Grossman 3 years he has 5 int's and 4TD's and 2 fumbles, in between being broken all the time. Orton at least will make it a whole season. With that defense and Thomas Jones running thats all you need. I would stay with Orton 9-4 or 10-3 he was winning.

i understand your thinking, rex grossman has yet to prove himself, he hasnt played that much..orton has had a chance to prove himself and has done virtually nothing! i think putting grossman in is just to try and spark a dead offense

Perhaps, but either way Lovie has done a good job with the defense...just not a Grossman fan.

but that int almost cost the bears very badly. and no, not exactly all of ortons yards. the bears need to sign some free agent in the offseason, because they have no qbs.

Lovie Smith easily....he turned that team around. It can, of course, be debated that their defense is so good that they "luck out" on games....but hey, they're winnin' and he's done a good job. Course they would've been shut out in their first game if a kick returner didn't fumble. :D

trust me grossman, will be the man..if he stays healthy he will be a legit NFL qb..

orton threw for what 11 yards? and ran for like 8?
thats like 19 yards..

rex's first pass was 22 yards..

9-7.....and you all scored a touchdown cause our kcik returner fumbled in our own redzone...

That was also Brunell's first game cause Chicago did a cheap shot on Ramsey :p
