Lufkin is old, but it wasn't around in 200, but I'm sure HP was.

I guess by that you mean of course Celina surpasses them.

Losing only 9 games, 6 finals appearances and 4 titles in 9 years: I'd say thats a pretty fair showing.

How well do ya'll think Celina would play a top 5A school? I'm sure it's been discussed before... I've just never paid attention.

I think they would get killed by some 5A teams that have more speed and more depth. they would probably beat some of the weaker teams

Here's the answer to that question...

This is the statewide records through the end of 2008, including all 11-man classifications combined

Stratford and Celina appear to have HP beat in regards to wins from 2000-2008 among lower classification programs

There were a few years they would beat most anyone they played. Much like the Daingerfield team of 1983 the 1999 and 2000 Celina teams were stifling. But normally a top 4A or 5A program is going to have more guys bigger, faster and stronger than a 3A team. My dream matchup would be 1985 Yates against the 1983 Daingerfield team.

In my experience, I've found this to be true. Even in matchups between 5A and 4A schools, the 5A's usually have much more quality depth. The starting 11 that Celina played could likely have stood toe to toe with anyone - but the big 5A programs (and the larger 4As) usually have talented, big, strong and fast kids on the bench, while the smaller schools dont.
