Four teams will play in each Regional championship. Looking ahead who do you see being there.

R1--Carroll, can't comment on any others
R2--Lufkin, can't comment on others.
R3--CyFalls will play in this game(IMO), don't want to comment on others
R4--265a always seems to be there.

What have you seen in your region that will lead you to pick another team other than your homer. For me CyFalls has several returning Juniors, their fan base is growing, and so is their community support. The talent is there but I also think the coaching needs to improve in order to get past this round. I say they will be in this game, but don't know how much futher they will go.

My prediction that Katy will again be there, even though they have a lot of reloading to do. Great kids, tremendous system and coaching will get them there again.

FYI, CyFalls had 14 Juniors starting against Katy a few weeks ago and had the largest returning senior class in the history of the school.

We could start as many as 18 seniors next year.

You know, I hate to sound like a homer, but Katy has reloaded from big talent dumps like this year to next will be. All the underclassmen who are coming back contributed in a big way this season, and I think we'll have other guys step up. Obviously, Dean better get ready to carry the ball at least 25 times each game. I think Trent can be the next Will, but we will see.

On paper, there are some teams that look really good but that's obviously no guarantee. I've seen teams return big numbers from state finalists squads and fall flat on their faces the next year. I can already tell our pre-season top 10 will look very different than last year's.

I just don't want the discussion to be on homer teams. I want to hear what SLC, Lufkin, Longview, 265a, Westfield, Northshore, other top contender programs have to say positive about another promising programs in their area.

Well, obviously I think Cy Falls will be one of the top teams. Will FB Marshall be as good next year? Who knows.

With the re-alingment in Feb. its hard to tell where Lufkin may end up. There's been some talk they could end up in region 3.

I have a feeling this will be a wild alignment. Many of the top teams this year were senior dominated teams, so that'll make ranking the pre-season teams (we'll start doing this for real in April) pretty interesting to say the least.

Last summer, we felt we had a clearly defined group of 7-8 teams that would contend for the state title. Our pre-season #1 and #7 ranked teams ended up winning state, so that turned out to be pretty accurate. Longview was the only team from that core group we identified to not go at least four rounds deep.

It'll be a bit more tricky in 2006 from the looks of things right now, but that could (probably will) change once I start taking a more in-depth look and who's returning what.

Watch San Antonio O'conner next year. They had a very young team this year and put it together their last game of the season. They'll be a team to watch in Region IV Div. I.

They will be a team to watch for the Next Two years! I hope you meant the last playoff game not the last reg. season game. the returning kids have gone through padrons full program since middle school, so the kids are getting better because the system is being installed in the middle school level and the kids just have to perfect it now! Padron has really turned this program around and IMO O'Connor is going to start being a contender for years to come under Padron. Also this was Padron's first graduating class this year (meaning the seniors have been under Padron for 4 years).

In region III, i think katy and cy falls will be in there... Westfield looks to be on a roll with a nice talent pool to help aid in reloading... meekins is doing a good job there.. so westfield success will continue... I think pearland may drop off.... Galveston Ball might make some noise.....

This is along the same lines, but who in your current districts would go Div I or Div II next year since their will be two in each Division? That will be an interesting twist (not necessarily good) since some teams that have never gone DI will play teams they have never faced, since they were previously always DII.

Carroll's district will definately look different with at least Denton Ryan going back to 4A, maybe others....Highland Park is manipulating their attendance #'s again to be just under the 5-A cutoff.. Will Carroll & Trinity end up in the same district or will they put some Lewisville teams back with Carroll?

SLC will not win another State Championship reason they are losing there key player their QB Katy should have beaten them but they couldnt score when Thompson gave them the chance to

why is it that people are of the opinion that graduating several seniors in one year makes for a weak team the next? doesn't it just allow for another senior laden team the next year also? seems that would be good. i understand about game experience, but, they are one year more mature and can learn more quickly. seems a coach would want to be able to field ALL seniors each year (of course assuming the talent level is there). does the talent level really oscillate that consistantly so that only one class out of three has all the talent?

look at katy each year. they have had heavy graduation years and still been at the top the next year. i think it has more to do with coaching than talent. of course, talent helps (if it is disciplined talent).

We also lost our QB to start off this year, remember???
With all the playing time Riley's got plus his sheer talent, I'm sure he'll do just fine.
Now, I'm not saying we'll win state, but we have come back from loss of a QB before...

So I guess those four extra points they would have gotten from that possesion would have really helped in their 14 point loss

SLC was the better team on Saturday. As for next year, both will reloaded and dangerous.

Within the geography of SLC’s current district; Denton Ryan and Fossil Ridge appear to moving down to 4A, while Keller Central and Justin Northwest move up to 5A. I am not saying there will be a straight swap, as I believe there is need for teams to play further west to boost the numbers of the west Texas districts.
