Tall, lanky, and swift - (Jason Taylor)

Short, Chubby, and quick - (Dwight Freeney)

Big, Strong, and good run stuffer - (Mario Williams)

It depends on the scheme for me. Defensive end may be the most difficult single position to evaluate at the sub-collegiate levels. It's just hard to find natural quality players at the position.

Ideally, you want someone with enough size/power to mix it up with offensive linemen but also the quickness to disrupt and seal the edge.

I like dwight freeney. He ran a 4.48 40 yd dash at 6'1, 265 lbs during the 2002 combine. He breaks left tackles' ankles like its a habit.

Agreed, I wouldn't call Freeney chubby at all, just extremely built in the lower body - stout maybe. His 40 was really impressive for DE and that's what makes his spin move so dangerous. I think there is room for all 3 types, but if I had to rank them I would put 1. Freeney's style 2. Mario's style 3. Taylor's style. But 1 and 2 are pretty interchangeable for me.

Reggie White anybody...strong, fast, and was down right nasty...I was watching him destroy Ol buddy that got drafted by the Pakcers back in the Incredible Hulk was nick name and i watched him one arm hump move this mammoth of man out of the way...thats what i want...gotta have a good combo of speed and power...I got told by a LB that the game was played at the Linebacker level, i laughed and said if you believe then u wont make it far because them big dudes let u do what it is u do, so if u had a bunch of slapsticks then u would get drove...same thing for offensive lineman...dont matter the scheme, if they dont block it i dont care how fast ur 40 time was:Censor:

I remember seeing him flatten Larry Allen (Famous Dallas Cowboys Lineman who was known for his 700lb bench press) one play and then go get the sack.

He didn't flatten Larry. He got Larry off balance with his speed rush. Faked it one play and used his right arm to club Larry's left side. Larry was up on one leg (his right) and it was enough to just knock him out of the way. Reggie went and got the sack.

Give me speed at the ends. Unless the refs let the o-line get away with holding murder, speed will win.

You mean like they let OU and Tech hold every play?

I wouldn't call Dwight Freeney 'chubby' in any manner. Anyway, out of the three you've given I'd take Mario Williams. If I could choose anyone, it'd be a healthy Julius Peppers without a doubt.
