Of course my vote goes to Lufkin. I'm beginning to understand how you UT people felt during the Longhorns drought to OU.

Out of those 4 teams I would choose Lufkin. Great fans and a outstanding team, they have played SL closer than any of those teams listed in that they have taken them to the final minute to 2 games and had a backup QB lead them in a valiant effort this year. Abilene has lost to them twice and this year it was ugly. SV got blown out in 02 and Ryan has never been close. Lufkin has been on the edge of defeating SL and you have to believe their time to pick up the hardware is coming soon.

When the SLC streak ends, presumably next year, I'll be cheerin' for The Pack 100%

I don't like any of those choices. I would choose a team that is not doing well, that just comes out and decides they are tired of loosing, not just loosing to Carroll, but loosing in general. That would be my ideal end of streak.

I don't see Carroll losing a step next year IF Dodge stays and Riley is the QB. They have plenty of receivers with PT this year coming back. Newton will be back and should be even stronger next year. I don't know how their defense will be, but you have to imagine it will be as good. Lufkin did what they did this year with basically a Jr. Offense. Defense will lose a few Sr's but has folks ready to step up as well. Next year is next though. We'll just have to see how things stack up. Hopefully we'll get it done then. As far as who deserves to beat them, I'd say anyone that can. If whoever it is does, then they will CERTAINLY deserve it.

the wr corps will return a sr who caught 20 passes as a soph, and 9 as a jr,so there aren't plenty of wr's returning. we graduate about 290 receptions this year. will be dodge's best coaching to get these guys back on top.

Assuming Riley plays qb - this is a team that will likely run 40 times a game and throw 15 - much, much tougher to defend than this year's team IF you didn't have an all world qb/wr corp. This year's team had potentially one of the best deep ball throwers in Texas hs football in the past decade - and 3-4 receivers unrivaled in previous SLC teams. Take those two guns away - and I think you had a much more beatable SLC team. Riley will not pass as well, but he will absolutely stretch you to the limit - leaving passing lanes much harder to defend.

No one "Deserves" to beat Southlake, if the do their homework and work hard it will happen. Until then No one "Deserves" to beat Southlake.

Its just a hypothetical question....something to talk about. Get off your high-horse and play along. You should be honored that your team is so well respected that this type of poll exists.

Clearly the team that has played Carroll the toughest games over the past few seasons on a cobsistent basis has been Lufkin. Accordingly, within the context of your poll, I will give the nod to the Pack. For Carroll to go undefeated for yet another season would be an almost impossible event.

Abilene has only played SLC twice...not sure why we would blame them for a very close loss to Irving in 2003. I would have to say Lufkin...in my opinion the game they played with the Dragons a few years ago which was in Lufkin's grasp started the fire that continues to burn in Southlake.

I sense that what is a bit uncomfortable is the hint of obsession in Lufkin's focus on SLC. It brings to mind a celebrity stalker, or Captain Ahab's chase of the great white (blonde in this case) whale.

or longview's obsession with beating lufkin this season...too bad they didn't take care of business and never got that chance
