If it wasn't a bow then what was it? Even the Saudis took it as a bow, according to the article.
Err... seems blatantly obvious? I would love to hear how someone can claim that isn't a bow...

That was a bow. In my opinion The President Of The United States Of America, bows to NO MAN!!! If he so chooses he may bow to his maker and or his God. A total sign of weakness. Represent......Obama !

Interesting, they spin it by saying it had everything to do with height difference. I find that even more interesting. As it has been pointed out, the Queen is all of 5'4 and he never did this with her or as Newt said earlier lets take a video of all the shorter guests that he has encountered and see how he goes about greeting them. Bush is no longer in office and we are starting to see the trend for at least the next 4 years with Obama and his supporters. Bring up Bush to detract from O's failures or misques. Its getting old now. Barack, you've been in office for close to 100 days now, its time to quit mentioning Bush and start to get us out of this horrible mess your predecesor suppoesdly put us in.

That being said, I still fail to see where Bush is the one being discussed and what his relevance to this is. If you would like to start a thread asking the difference between the two then by all means do so, It could be interesting to see the explinations we would get on that.

This would be fine because the "bow" is returned...kind of like hugging...it would suck to hug someone as a greeting and they don't hug you back. :D
Now bowing to someone (other than GOD) as a sign of "respect"/royalty/worship...that's a no no (speaking for myself;)).

Apparently not.
King Abdullah, as king of Saudi Arabia, home to the holiest muslim pilgrimage sites, is the supreme leader of the clandestine Muslim global conquest brotherhood. Barack Obama, as a member of this league is a subordinate to the King. It states clearly in the Koran, Page 356, Subsection 3, Line 5, that any member of the Clandestine Muslim Global Conquest Brotherhood, must bow, at the waist, to the supreme leader of the movement.
Thats dumb.
lowering your head to someone to recieve an award seems show humility, to me. bowing for the medal isn't as blatant as bowing as a hello, but it doesn't show power in my eyes.

if one is receiving a gold medal at the olympics, it is customary to bend forward at the waist, to be courteous to the presenter who otherwise may have to hand you the medal? as opposed to bowing in deference to another, in a greeting situation. there is a difference, whether pied wants there to be or not.

It's going to be a really long 4 years for many you throwing hissy fits over the fact that he bowed. Word to the wise, save your anger for things that actually matter that he does like his budget proposal. If you get your panties in a wad everytime he does something like this it seems overly petty and irrational, which lessons the affect of your true anger when it really counts.

I think it is a bigger deal that the White House blatantly attempted to mislead, shoot, lie to the public into believing that there was no bow by Obama. That is far more revealing than the bow in and of itself. Evidently, Obama's staff thought his actions sufficiently serious to engage in such activity.

He's either:
1) Bowing subserviantly so that he can take it up the yin yang
2) The king just cracked a really good joke and he's bent over in mirth
3) He lost a contact
4) His knees buckled due to the pressure of being in a room of his own kind
5) He's an idiot who cares nothing for America and what she truly stands for
The Answer Is: Clearly it's 1 and 5.:)

Well at least he's not bent over in subserviance. He's just having a good old boy moment.
last i checked in a reread, i only compared one to the other. no outrage described, implicit or otherwise. you seemed to be implying in your photo, that bush accepting an award was no different than bowing in what could be perceived as deference by o'bama. i don't see olympic athletes as being subservient to the presenter. i do see gents bowing to their queen as being the lesser.
or bowing to a competitor befire a sporting event, Karate Kid comes to mind.

Um...huh??? Bush wasn't bowing in any of the pictures posted. He knew not to do that. Now, if you are talking about Obama, he was bowing. But how does homosexuality play into what I posted just above (other than item #1 on my first post which was a joke to begin with)? Believe me, in many cultures, holding hands of the same sex is considered very normal. My Italian in-laws think nothing of that or putting their arm around me. Doesn't mean they want to have sex with me!!! They also kiss me on each cheek every time they see me - again, nothing is implied but a greeting.

It's called "PROTOCOL" and while some see the Obama's lack of PROTOCOL as cute, I see it differently. Why didn't he bow to Elizabeth - oh yeah, she's not of his world!! He shows his true colors clearer every day. No POTUS should be bowing - we are not subjects of other countries - he might be but the rest of us aren't and he represents the US on these trips.

I don't drink anyone's kool-aid. Bush wasn't perfect either but I sure felt more peace of mind when he was around. Can't explain why except that he didn't give in or tell others that our country is vain and full of itself.

I'm not a great Bush fan - I think he's a decent human being and good person but I didn't always agree with the things he did. No kool-aid on my part at all. I didn't think McCain or Palin were the complete answer either. But Obama selling us down the river at every turn isn't helping matters. His arrogance is over the top too - as is that of so many of his supporters. And the 911 calls about shrimp and McNuggets? That's just a small part of what is to come because Obama says it's OK to be entitled for some folks out there.

It has nothing to do with him directly but these ladies who made the calls, in my opinion, are thinking they are entitled to service that others aren't and using 911 illegally to boot. I just feel that there are people who now think they are entitled to special treatment because he has made them feel that way. It's just my opinon....may be false but that's how I view it. So, they either feel they deserve special treatment and it's ok to call 911 to get it OR they are mentally incapable of rational thought - probably the second actually. I just like to blame it all on Obama just as the libs did before he was there on Bush, Bush I and Reagan.

Oh, and she loves Obama - he is going to help her pay for her house!! She hasn't worked in years either. Her husband has a low paying job and yet, they get all sorts of freebies.

And I have to add one more thing - people of other races are showing their racist colors as well as those who are white. I am not a racist - I won't go into that again because I was raised by a father who felt we were all equal. I showed my daughter my old house the other day and she asked who lived in the houses across the creek - very old homes too. I told her that was the black family that most kids weren't allowed to play with - except us. She was shocked that they were treated like that. Just because one doesn't like Obama does not make them racist and I'm tired of that thought process - it's a cop out.

75 good luck on that research. I found it's easier to trace boodlines back to Scotland than it is to trace back through Okla., Georgia, Miss and Fl. So many Indians that are traceable, when being counted for US census records took on names of familys they worked for. The documention of those who lived on reservations were mostly at the mercy of those taking records.
Then one must consider a lot of Native Americans would not consider documentation of any sort.

When the Choctaw were moved to Oklahoma, they were put on rolls. My family never worked for anyone - they had farms once they left the reservation. If he has family that are on the rolls, it isn't that hard. My uncle was Blackfoot and Sioux - they are a little harder to find. Our family was on the rolls going WAY back so it was actually pretty easy to go from then to now. On my dad's side, we go back as far as the late 1600's coming from England and one, John Wilkes - Lord Mayor of London in the 1770's, has a statue in London that I got to see last year! That was awesome. We have that side of the family documented as well. The Europeans - especially the English - kept excellent records but if the Indian tribe was well organized, as the Choctaw's were and still are, then it's fairly easy. Just call the tribe and see how you can get hold of the rolls. Once it can be proven you are on the rolls, you can get a tribal card.

And they are screwed up a little - that's my mom's side. I went to a funeral once for a great uncle in Ardmore - he'd been killed in a very bad auto accident and they had an open casket - he was basically put back together. All these indians were chanting and stuff - I was 8 years old and I don't think I've been back to OK since - can't tell which is more scary, my family or the Sooners!!

My connection was 6 generations back and was Choctaw. There are two names but I think only one person. One a Thomas Harvey along with a Indian name TOMAJAH. Two stories here. One he was a white child named Tom Harvey who was taken by the Choctaw and raised by them and given the name Tomajah. The second was reverse. He was a Indian child raised by a family known as Harvey and given the name Tom. Whatever that line ends with him and his wife. No history on her either. Scottland was easy. All the way back to the late 1600s and early 1700s, the McGregors and the Campbells. That was far enough.
PS My name isn't Harvey, Tomajah, McGregor or Campbell.
