In all the joy and happiness in SL today, I am outraged...how can Jacobson NOT be first team all state??? What a ripoff!

We are blessed with so many riches...but it is hard not to take offense to the poobahs of picks overlooking such a great talent & kid! it's a shame...

I'm not positive, but aren't most of the all-state picks and such done right after the regular season and then announced once the season is over? Did Jacobson play great the entire season or did he really shine during the playoffs?

SLC fans are mad cause Jacobson is not first team, Lufkin is mad Bryant is not first team, lets get over it and move on. These stupid rankings and things like this are always incorrect every year.
Could be worse, Katy lost only to the number 1 team in the entire country and didnt have one all state player.

True but they has some close games and Southlake Carroll didn't even have 1 close game this year.

Mckay had a good year and although it would have been nice for him to be 1st team all-state --- I doubt that was his primary objective. Disappointing yes - but he is walking away with a state championship - a college scholarship to a great university and will be entering spring ball shortly as he will be up there in January. He is on his way to visit Chile and prepare for bigger things. He knows he was deserving and most others know it too -I don't think he gets his confidence from some guys picking an all-state team.
He will be fine.

Weird, we named him to first team and also gave him the Metroplex MVP award for coming off of an injury season to catch 99 passes and give his QB a go-to guy when Renfro started getting hampered with his own injuries.
Obviously, people will wonder why Nance didn't get that when we gave Nance the overall offense MVP but like I said in the other thread...we want to recognize as many of these players as we can.
Jacobsen was definitely the best receiver in the state this year in my opinion.

Part of the problem with the AP all state team is that they do not recognize enough receivers. There are 3 runningbacks on the list and only two receivers. With the state shifting to a more wide open style of play, three runningbacks may no longer by necessary, and an extra receiver is.

SLC was down in the 4th quarter to Plano and had only a 3 point lead with about 5 minutes left in the game before Plano threw an interception.

I agree he is special. I put Dez right behind him. My father has seen a lot of hs football and he said that Jacobsen is the best pure highschool wr he has seen ever. He said he reminds him of a fast Steve Largent. He has unbelievable hands, run's amazing routes, great speed etc etc He has it all. BYU got a big time wr without a doubt.

once dez gets the tricks of the wr trade down, he's ready for sunday games. he has the physical skills to beat anyone anytime, but is still learning what he can and can't do, and how to get away with what you can't. i agree about mckay too.

Very good point especially with Carroll using at least 4 WR's & only 1 back, sometimes none...

jacobsen shined all year. he had nearly 950 receiving yards during the regular season and 500-600 during the playoffs. im shocked he didnt make all state team.

Yea, just a follow up though on Dez. Lufkin has several players they can go to, and do. I saw Dez make some great catches, but perhaps he did not make 1st team because of his numbers. That's a shame.

if ever there was a team that spread the wealth, i think slc fits in, and mckay certainly had the numbers anyway. mckay and dez should have been first team, imo.

Yes they had two close games and won both of them. I am just wondering what significance the number 2 has with your Smithson Valley Rangers in the context of records and close games.
