Here's my take on the thread thing. I don't blame Wide. These boards operate under the rules that the last thread replied to is on top. New threads move other threads down. Putting up threads that cover something posted someplace else stifles the conversation. Most people don't go down to Page 2 to find threads, but that's where you push them when you start new threads. That's why I'm looking to put my poll threads in another location.

Wide, it's not so much a person calling you rude, but who did it. I've seen his posts on here and he's no angel, either. It's not easy for me to notice and remember a person with under 300 posts as being rude, but he's one of them.

Wide is a Lufkin fan like you. He gets out of line at times, but he's a respected member around here. You're not doing yourself any favors by calling him a loser. You won't make friends and there are better ways to go about expressing your feelings. Whether you like it or not, we have a poster structure around here that comes with seniority. Just chill, make good posts, become friends with the guys around here so we get to know you and then express your opinions in a respectful manner.

If you're cool with Wide, he'll grow to respect you. You have to earn Wide's respect. You might say you don't care if he respects you or not, but you really need to establish yourself on here instead of saying something like that in post #3. You should've PM'd him if you didn't like what he said.

You've never seen me fire off anything nasty. I've never called a person on this board a name in anger or in a disagreement. I prefer to say things to people in private messages. We have Hall of Famers on here who can tell you I said things to them in a PM. On occasion, I do say something publicly, but only because of a trend that I see that's too prevalent. I only say things publicly because I want to say something to a person, but for others to also see it to prevent them from doing the same.

Most of the time I say something because I want to diffuse a situation. I say things to keep others from feeling like it's necessary for them to say something in hopes that the situation can be diffused. The way I look at it, a veteran needs to be the one to say something and this person has to remain calm and not let his/her emotions take over. In any disagreement, there is usually fault on both sides. I'm just trying to get everybody to cool off. I'd prefer everybody get along and I'm just trying to help. I know it puts me in an awkward situation, but I'm looking out of the best interests of the board. I don't want you guys hating each other.

So when someone says something publicly that's ugly regarding you or a team you support, then send something ugly back in a PM instead of in public.

You know it's difficult sometimes. I think there are alot of people here who are proud of our respective towns, kids, etc. When someone comes along and fires off negative comments, it's tough not to respond in turn. I am often guilty of not being the 'bigger' person. I am not, however, guilty of throwing the first punch very often.
