Is Cooper bringing a full squad or no?
All except for the QBs. Chris Hall and Zach Stewart are both in the Metroplex this Summer for baseball. Our 7 on 7 squad played Abilene Wylie the other night and I got to see them for the first time. They found a young QB who looks really good. I believe he is a soph. to be by the name of Will Casey. He's about 6'1 and throws the ball very well. I dont remember seeing him throw any picks and he threw several TDs. Jordan Neal and Will Galusha were both out there to help coach the team and every time the offense was on the sideline Jordan had the new QB off to the side coaching him. It was pretty fun to watch because Jordan was really going after it and this kid was really listening.
As for Sat., from what I understand we should have pretty much a full squad. Courtney Lockridge should do what Damon Russell did last year only better because Courtney is a couple inches taller. They were just tossing passes up to Courtney the other night and just letting him out jump the coverage. Matt Donahue was pulling in every pass within 5 yards of him and Kenson Colbert made some spectacular catches. It looked like we were missing some projected starters on defense, but hopefully they will be there Sat.

They will both be HCs with teams of their own in the future... you can bet on that. I would personally love to see Jordan as the QB coach and Will as a DB coach at Cooper when they get done with college.

As always, your SQT looks like one of the toughest in the state. Bwood is the only qualified team I recognize on there. At first glance I'd say Copperas Cove, Cooper and Abilene would be three favorites to win it. Brady, Marlin, Jim Ned and even Merkle have done well in the past, so I guess that muddies it up a bit. Not sure how strong those schools are supposed to be this year...Jim Ned in particular with McCoy gone to UT.

Jim Ned is usually good, but I dont know who they will get in the QB dept. Colt McCoy's younger brother Chance was going to be the QB, but he should be leading Graham now that his Dad has taken the HC job there (which means Graham could be a dandy team).
Breckenridge could also be good. Their QB, Jeremy Heatly, threw for about 2000 yards last year and they return some good receivers.
I've heard from some Brownwood people that they have a new QB and they have looked very good so far. Brownwood is unbeaten so far in 7 on 7 (8-0).
I'm interested to see Cove again. I was really impressed with their QB last year and I expect him to be even better this year.
Midland Lee could be another interesting team. They have been doing well in local tourneys. McCoy has been tearing it up at WR.
I think one thing you'll see in Abilene are three tall receivers that can really get up and pull some balls down. Terrance McCoy for Lee, Courtney Lockridge for Cooper and Lyle Leong for Abilene who go about 6'4, 6'5 and 6'2 respectively with tremendous leaping ability.
It looks like the QB position will be well represented with Taylor Potts (AHS), Kye Darden (Brownwood), Jeremy Heatly (Breckenridge), Brent Garner (Copperas Cove), Chance McCoy (Graham) and I'm sure there will be a few surprises as well.

Ya, its funny cause Brent has been wearing the same 7 on 7 shirt and has the same hat since his freshman year....but our 7 on 7 looks good this year...we dominated our own tourney and we went to Midway and some lower class teams including West, Llano, and Mart....but lost to Midway in the Champ. game....

Thats a good thing....that means we've still qualified every year since it all started...1 of 4 teams coming into this year(Arl. Lamar, Coll. Heritage, and Waco/Hewitt Midway)

last year's dq kept you out of it, which must be why dctf doesn't have you on the list.

the DQ was the year before....maybe thats why, but last year we lost in the consolation semis to Coll. Heritage....but DCTF made a poor statement last year about saying "A 4-2 mark in the state tourney is not bad for consolation school" This kinda ticked me of and I want CC to win it bad now..
