How fitting, if we could move April Fools day to late December, Early January!

Let's just see Romo without the cancer and see what happens. I think there is a ton of upside to this QB and this will be his make or break year IMO.

really? T.O had 235 receptions and 38 td's in the 3 seasons at Dallas. Romo is going to miss him alot more than you think.

Can't argue the numbers but when you get thrown to more than anyone else in the league and are the first, third and fifth look in every snap's progression I would hope you could get those numbers. Imagine what they'd be if he didn't have more drops that anyone else on football during those same three years. Of course the quarterback being able to make all his reads and throw to all of his weapons without fear of nuclear winter may account for something and the oc being able to call any kind of game he chooses or sees fit without fear of a toxic tsunami smashing him, his unit or his locker room could be worth a few plays, too. Maybe see some new looks utilizing that stable of runningbacks and two athletic, talented te's. In other words being able to full utilize the talents of:

Witten/Bennett/Williams/Crayton/Austin/Hurd/Barber/Jones/Choice > Owens

Oops! Guess I just made the arguement.

not at all, you are not even counting the dropped passes. TO was a drain on the whole offense because of his antics. TO was a good receiver but nowhere near as great as you seem to think. There was no chemistry with the team while TO was there and you need chemistry to win. Talent alone doesn't win championships

You need an owner as well. Let's get back to bashing the owner.

:D

I wish Romo the best, but I really don't see it. He has had flashes of brilliance, all fading out about Thanksgiving or early December, when the games start to matter. He seems to take on an aloof attitude.

Alot of Romos problems in december have been very simple... Lack of protection... The big boys up front, that were put together by Parcells to be run blockers, and work off play action, are worn down by having to pass block so much, and by December, Tony Romo turns into a sitting duck on half of the snaps... The number of sacks and the amount of pressure he gets in December is a big factor... With TO gone, the running game will be able to flourish more, which will open up the passing game... Those flashes of stellar defense we saw last season may be able to be a more constant thing if the offense is able to move the ball and control the clock better... I agree that JJ has done some stupid things, but at the same time, he's also made some pretty smart decisions... I would have loved to see Shanahan come in this offseason and Wade hit the road, but alas, that didn't happen...

Right, T.O. isnt as great as T.O. thinks he is, and other than Witten, he was the best pass option that Romo had for the past 3 seasons. Do you think good Roy will step up and be the go to guy next season? I dont think so.
Back n Black hit the nail on the head. The Cowboys biggest obvious problem was the O line play in the last 4 to 6 games of the season.

O-Line was pretty crummy last year, particularly down the stretch. But, for a line built to run block, they STILL Sucked, down the stretch, trying to run the ball. Garrett seemed to forgot how to call plays that nobody saw coming, like in his early days. Has Garrett been figured out?

As for the go to receiver, I think it will be Witten. You got good receivers to help out. I have NEVER thought RW was all that. I think Hurd can be just as good as Williams, from an all over the field perspective. Williams is the throw in the corner of the end zone and let me jump for it, receiver. Throw in Crayton (who can run IF he catches the ball), and Austin, and I THINK Dallas is Stacked at WR.

as a matter of fact I do think Roy can be the go to guy. Lets give him a chance as well as Romo and just see how well they do without the cancer. All you have now is just speculation.

I may be a bit of a homer about Roy Williams, but i will say, I saw him in Dallas as a Lion in 2006, and he blew by the Dallas defense a few times... I think he has the potential, if he can get in sync with Romo, to put up the same kind of numbers TO did... The offense is explosive, and if they setup the pass with the run a little more, instead of trying to come out of the gate throwing it deep, i think they will have the same kind of production in 09 that they had in 07...
