Will Thompson is my mvp in a losing effort. A 75 yard td pass/run, a 55 yard punt return - he single-handedly turned this game around! What heart - as Coach Dodge said - a real warrior!

Congrats to McElroy - the awarded MVP - he did play like a true champion as well. I sure wish Will were bigger - he'd be a college star - he will still play somewhere - any thoughts?

will has been offered by a MWC school, and that's it. hopefully his effort today wasn't too late in him landing a schollie at a great school.

personally, my MVP is Morris Arnold. I've said for the past 2 months he's been katy's best defensive player, and today is showed.

Arnold had a great game - really played awesome. He made numerous key plays on really hard pass coverages.

Arnold and Thompson came to play... The big-time players play the biggest in the biggest games...

Arnold made many big tackles and got alot of TV time because of it... Thompson reminded me of Welker (is that his name?) the guy that played so well for Texas Tech a few years back...

Will played a great game along with Morris. Both played with a lot of heart. Both made impact plays when they had to. Would have been nice if they would have payed off with a win. Great heart by the whole team not to buckle with all of the difficulties they were up against. They hung in tough for the full 48 minutes.

Arnold is real goooooood!!! all over the field today. Fine player. Thompson is going to make some coach somewhere very happy next year. He doesn't fit the D1 mold (whatever that is) but that is a FOOTBALL PLAYER.

Arnold is such a hoss. I've been saying for the past month he's been Katy's most consistent defender. He's so versatile and it showed today.

Morris Arnold, that was the name of that kid who was laying those hits huh. Him and Will Thompson definitely brought it.

Cannot disagree with the MVP pick - McElroy proved he was that. But by golly - Will Thompson came up BIG for Katy. The kid has heart. College coaches better pay attention - because sometimes heart can compensate for height, speed, etc. He is is just one of those guys you HAVE to HAVE on the team.

it will be the first time if a program can overlook his size and other detributes and take a flyer. college recruiters appear to be obligated to use a tape measure and a stop watch first and foremost as their selection tools.

Maybe recruiters now see what Katy faithful already knew.

That's unfair to say. It's still a team game. Give the kid his kudos - he did all he could.

What if the SLC receivers didn't make those catches - would McElroy be the MVP? problably not. But again I have to say - I will not disagree with McElroy being MVP - he earned it - he put the ball where it had to be.

That's brilliant - the individual over the team concept! Will definitely did more than his part, as did Arnold and Dean.

Yes, I was impressed with Will Thompsons ability to take over the game. I wish he had more physical size so that he caould go D1. A huge heart for the game plus athletic ability "Will" get him some offers. Good Luck to him.

I think SLC Defensive Back that had two interceptions on two very critical drives needs to get mentioned along with Will. He played a heck of a game, I think his name was Agnew(sp).

if this kid doesn't get recruited there is something wrong. He would make a fantastic athlete in college, stick him at PR/KR or something. Wes Welker for Tech anyone? Darren Sproles (completely undersized) in the NFL? Thompson is too good of an athlete to let go.

as good as will was, he wasn't as athletic or as good as chase hargis was for the 02 dragons. chase gave up 0 td passes his sr year and always took the 16 other teams best rec. he also scored 4 tds himself. no, college recruiters see things differently than you or me.

Will Thompson may be the andidote to SLCs success '03 pick.....'05 amazing game with no support. A team full of Thompsons may be the only team that could beat SLC. Great job Will you made the game fun to watch. good luck with the college thing.

Great job will yeah made the game fun to watch. good luck with the college thing.SLC, as great as they are, did not look unbeatable yesterday... Certainly SLC forced some of Katy's mistakes, but Katy had some unforced errors as well... Had Katy played a little more ball control, avoided the illegal motions and had a couple less turnovers, I think the game would have gone right down to the wire... What you think?

it may draw some ire, but i believe slc would win at least 8 out of 10 matches. slc played less than perfect, too. kt made some errors and some great plays besides, as did slc. tre's fumble was a defensive gem. at least 3 of the interceptions were outstanding defensive efforts. it could have been closer, and it could have been worse, but most of the time it would have ended the same, imo.

SLC is never unbeatble anyday. The only close to perfect game they had this season was vs. Abilene. But if you agree that they would win 8 out of 10 matchups, you're somewhat agreeing that they are close to unbeatable.

if you are saying that an undefeated kt has a chance, no one with a lick of sense would disagree. every team can throw a game away with errors, and game-killing mistakes.

Was disagreeing with the post that said only a team full of Will Thompsons could beat SLC... Not sure if he was figuratively alluding to Thompson's effort or his talent, but after watching the game I thought Katy most certainly could have won the game with the team they fielded...

Most people don't know but Will has been timed under 4.4 in the 40. That is fast as you need in college. He is also solid as a brick wall. He doesn't just slip tackles, but a lot of DB's hit him and he is too solid to go down. I think a good scout will see these things and Will T. will be playing in D1 in the next year or 2. At least for kick off and punt returns.

Speaking of plans to play football beyond HS:

I don't know who they were there to look at, but I saw at least two guys on the sideline who were scouting players for the Air Force Academy. I asked them if they were looking at anyone in particular, but they chose not to divulge that information.

Anyone have any idea if either side had players being actively recruited by the AFA?

Air Force is recruiting the 3 senior starters in the Katy secondary.

But I didn't tell you that ;)

Will Thompson is a great player and produced great things for Katy in 2003 and 2005. No one in SLC should forget this kid. I'll be happy watching for him to do great things for some college.

Kind of sounds like someone is a little bit jealous...maybe you should go back in time to the '03 State game and look what Will did then...The boys got heart and talent which is why Rice and the ARMY want him...
