After watching today's game I still feel that TRINITY would beat KATY and SLC vs TRINITY would have been the game of the year. TRINITY's team speed is so much better than KATY's and I really feel it would have come down to who had the ball last if those two teams would have played each other this year. Texas has such a watered down playoff system and its just going to get worst next year.

Trinity was a better team last saturday than Judson was , But I've been around football along time and I will say this TRINITY would beat KATY and SLC would have their hands full with TRINITY and I'm not just saying this because TRINITY beat JUDSON.

Trinity would have done about as well against SLC as Katy did. The game that needs to be played is SLC vs. Highland Park. That would be one helluva game.

Hey, guys save some of your ammo. The Superbracket for the 96 playoff teams starts real soon. We can DISCUSS who beats who in that.

I haven't found one person who didnt want ET to face SLC in D1 - except maybe some wise ET fans. ET vs. SLC NOW would be a great game - BUT if they had played in ROund 1 - SLC would have won handily. ET lost a game, then almost lost another and it took them a couple of weeks in the po's to regroup. Regroup they did - very well - but it would have been BAD timing for them to play SLC in round 1.

I would have loved to seen that game too along with Highland Park vs SLC. SLC, Highland Park and Trinity are the best I've seen

Greg McElroy would have picked the Trinity secondary apart. I saw the Irving Mac/Trinity game and if the Mac QB could throw the ball, Mac would have beat you and given you 2 losses. You guys better be glad you went Division I and SLC went Division II. The SLC defense would have slowed you down in the first half and stopped you in the second half and the final score would have been ugly!! I recommend ET celebrate their Division I State Championship and leave SLC out of your thoughts!! They would have whipped you!!

I am pretty sure SLC almost got beat by Grapevine if its wasnt for a lucky interception. So don't use stuff like that, anything can happen on any given day. The heart this year's ET team has would beat this SLC team. My wish for Christmas would be to watch ET vs SLC this year. Coaches should get together and have a game put together. That way yall can shut up. Our secondary had one bad game and it wasn't just that, that beat us when we played SGP. Its was alot of stuff. But let me remind you that our secondary has 7 interceptions in the last 6 games. McElroy would probably throw 3 in the game and then SLC couldn't hold Nance's jock strap. When yall finally adjust to Nance after he was gained 200+ yards, we will throw on yall. He are a triple threat team.

Trinity beat how many teams in this site's top 25 in the playoffs? 0? That is what I thought. On the other hand, SLC defeated 6 I think.

How many of those teams that you intercepted a lot were passing-oriented teams? Running-oriented teams don't pass near as well as passing-oriented teams. Every team in the playoffs you guys played ran the ball way more than they passed, although Fossil Ridge was a spread offense they hardly passed at all(which they should have). However, Against the 3 teams that you played that were pass-oriented on offense(LD Bell, SGP, MacArthur) you guys did terrible in the secondary. And none of those teams had either the QB or recievers that were as good as SLC's.

Without a doubt the 16-0 Southlake Carroll Dragons are the #1 in Texas for 2005 - No arguments, no questions, no ifs, no buts, no anything. (We can now argue who 2 through 10 is)

Trinity had the easiest road to a state championship I've seen in the last ten years. SLC had to defeat like 5 undefeated teams in a row to win their's.
And for the record, South Grand Praerie, Smithson Valley, Plano, North Shore, Katy, Cove, Westfield, and Lufkin would all beat Trinity head to head.
It'd be nice to have one formal state champion team instead of two, but in this case, everyone knows who would win.

The thing with Trinity's defense is that their Defensive Line was huge like their offensive line so they could stop the run very well. But their secondary lacked athletes and skill, so much that they played freshman at some times I think(I know they did against SGP) and their secondary just could not keep up with fast and talented wide recievers like Demoyas Baker, Malcom Williams for SGP or Ron Brooks for MacArthur.

I do believe a healthy Westfield would of been very tough for SLC. And I agree with your argument, while Trinity looked invincible they would of had their hands full with teams like Plano, Lufkin, Cove, Katy and most definitely a healthy Westfield squad!
Congrats to SLC and Trinity on their 2005 titles!!!
Bring on 2006.....as teams like Cy Falls, North Shore and AMC will be making some serious noise!!!!

I think Trinity could beat SLC (just as many other teams "can" beat SLC) but I don't think they would have. I did not get to see them play this year but I hear their DB's would have had alot of trouble with SLC. I was disappointed that they lost a game as I would love to have seen them go 15-0. I know we would have to hear more "we are better than SLC"(see Highland Park) but they hear it from everyone already.
I think Trinity peaked early in the year and then dropped off before picking it up again in the playoffs.

5A Division I was a cakewalk this year. I don't believe any of those teams would have gotten past the quarter-final round including Trinity. Southlake Carroll would wear down those fat/large (offense & defense) linemen for Trinity by the 2nd quarter and the route would be on!! SLC's speed & quickness would overwhelm the linemen and the secondary would be caught out of place consistently. I watched them in the playoffs and they struggled in their secondary coverage. They were out of place in many occassions. As far as the SLC defense against the Tongans, speed would dominate power after a very short time. Those BIG BOYS would be sucking eggs as SLC defenders blasted the QB, FB and Nance.
Nance was by far the best player on that team. He really impressed me but not near as mich as the man, Greg McElroy!!!

I Believe Trinity would beat Katy. Trinity would beat them on size and execution. Also, I thought Katy's tackling was not as good as it could be. I put alot of stock in tackling. Truthfully, I believe that Converse Judson, and possibly A&M Consolidated would beat Katy as well. I know you all would disagree, but these are my observations. As far as Trinity and Southlake, it would be interesting. I don't think Southlake would get away with spreading their offense so much. Trinity's Big and Fast Defensive line would Harrass McElroy possibley too much. Trinity's secondary vastily improved throughout the playoffs, and opponent's recievers have trouble catching after the first quarter, because Trinity's secondary hit receivers hard. Southlakes receivers are tiny compared to Trinity's secondary. Trinity's secondary is not slow either. Southlake's defense would have a huge problem with Trinity's offensive size. One thing I think Southlake's defense does great is tackle. I can tell that Trinity's and Southlake's coaches come from the same school on tackling technique.

Your team lost a game my goodness?? A team Plano beat and a team the #1 team beat by double digits. any sensible fan knows who is the best in the state by far. Keep lying to yourself if it makes you feel better? Katy's oline averaged right at or close to 280 by the way.

I didn't say Trinity would overwelm them. I thought it would be an interesting game. You have to remember that Trinity's D-line is used to practicing against 300+ pounders, and 300+ pounds of speed.

Here's the true analysis of the season Trinity and Southlake established themselves as the contenders early. Trinity stumbled but didnt fall. Some other teams got ranked ahead them on huffing and puffing until they all choked, leaving the 2 who were there in the beginning. The only 2 with the words 2005 5a State Champs to their name. But you empty handy haters are more than welcome to engrave all your shouda, woulda, couldas on a trophy and have a parade for all I care.

You're right, the only thing that matters is the trophy that says you're the state champs. The best team does NOT always win titles or get to the title game. The champ is always a deserving champ, though.

Only thing that matters is that Trinity and SLC won their respective state championships. Speculation is speculation...all rubish now that the season is over. For all we know Celina might have been the best team in the state this year. All that matters is who hoists the final trophy...Right? And please leave my people out of any further discussion on this board (Tongans), lets just call them what they are, football players and leave it at that. The Trojans are happy with a state championship trophy, they've worked hard for it, I'm sorry all the sore losers (and winners) here bashing either team didn't finish the task at hand when it was in front of them. All you can do is win through the playoffs and that's what the Dragons and Trojans did. Stop living in the glory of others...appreciate the spectacle for what it is, it's just a game. No one here should feel slighted personally that their team didnt win. The My dad can beat up your dad discussion should have been outgrown when you left kindergarten. Let's stop being so self-centered, grab a player on your respective teams and let them know it's ok to lose, and that you're one hell of a proud supporter because of their efforts on the field.
