District 8-5a could possibly be one of the toughest districts in the state that is constantly over looked with teams like PESH,PLANO,PLANO WEST, ALLEN, FLOWER MOUND, THE COLONY, LEWISVILLE, AND FLOWER MOUND MARCUS.

Plano East looks to rebound this season after losing a few starters the running back spot will be hard to be filled after an impressive performance by C.J. Ugokwe who is headed to Rice University.

2006 Prospects

P.J. Grundy
Laron Walker
Sam Voss
Jeremy Lewis
Chris Morris

Plano was a school that started from the bottom with the great amount of experience look for the Wildcats to be a serious contender with pre season offensive mvp Justin Jordan the wildcats could be on the rise.

2006 Prospects

Justin Jordan
Victor Jones

The Plano West Wolves are going to have a hard time trying to fill the shoes of a great team last year with many starters gone underclassmen from last year are going to have to make a big impact in order for the Wolves to come out on top this year but inexperienced players have not stopped the Wolves from succeeding.

The Allen Eagles have a great deal of talent on there team the defense is always the key to there game and that shouldnt change I predict Allen to come on top in this one even with Casey Dick gone and names like Marcus Shavers and Gene Norris the Allen Eagles are always supplied with great depth look for them to go far. :)

The Flower Mound Jaguars are going to be a great team this year with a Highly recruited Quarterback who skyrocketd on the map with offers this spring should lead this team to a Playoff Birth there are some questions that are still to be answered with the running back position and safety Chris Avery should control the defense along with Rufus Hardy who may also see time at Running Back if needed. With a great qb thE Jaguars are definately on the rise.

The Colony its the same ol' story this will be the cougars last year in 5a football it was nice while it lasted but when you cant produce wins you cant have much of anything, I think the cougars should enjoy what they have and jus go out and fight every game Athlete Stephon Henderson has graduated and lack of depth will trouble them .

The fighting farmers have new head coach and new offense to go along with that , the last time the Farmers tried to switch to the spread offense things did not work out to well so it should be interesting to see how things especially at the Quarterback position.

The Marcus Marauders have a very talented team with many returners coming back the defense was 2nd in the district the heartbeat of the defense should be Tyler Sullivan (6'2 215) linebacker who was 1st team asll district as a junior and cornerback Sean Bender the offense will be very well spread out quarterback Kevin Moore who has commited to Tulane will lead the offense taking the load will be Senior Brandon Thermilus who is said to have 4.4 speed , Grant Parker and Heath Baker will be on the recieving end of things and the Marauders can very well shock the district Head Coach Randy Mayes Seems to be very fired up about the squad be on the lookout.

8-5A Projection

1.Allen
2.Plano
3.Plano West
4.Flower Mound
5.Marcus
6.PESH
7.Lewisville
8.The Colony

:) Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!

District 8-5a is not one of the toughest districts in the state - not even close.

I think you are a little to close to the action over there.
Plano West was beaten last year by Denton Ryan -
Allen was beaten by Southlake.
Plano and Lewisville were beaten by Fossil Ridge. all from district 5-5A
Plano East - Destroyed by Duncanville - first round.

8-5a is not even in the top 20 in the state. It is average at best.

id have 2 agree with rigdepride on this one...i would have 2 say that the only respectable team in the distict is allen im my opinion.put that district against any of the top 10 districts in the giude..they dont come close to matcing up.

8-5A is far from one of the toughest districts in the state, it will be a better district than it was a year ago, but still does not make it a tough district. The Lewisville schools have fallen below average and that alone brings down the strentgh of this district, count in Plano, and it has given you at least 4 homecoming games on the schedule. I hope to see the district become strogner this year and for years to come, but till then you have to consider it a weak district.

here is the predicted order of finish in district 8

PESH
Allen
WEst
Flower Mound
Lewisville
MKarcus
The Colony
Plano

Pesh was a talented groupg of returning defensive people and lots of sophs coming up.
Allen will ride the numbers into a playoff berth
West had a nice JV tema to build on
Flower Mound had the best JV team in the district and a star to be QB
Lewisville will be down but not for long
Marcus oh well
The Colony. lots of returners but no where to go
Plano another 0-10 perhaps. No talent here

As for the strength of the district. Who cares. The top teams get all the press and until your team wins it all you and your district is not going to get the press. But who really gives a rip the games are played on the field by youngsters not by loud mouths on the net.

A few years ago, (the year that Allen beat us in the quarterfinals) their was a strong rumor that our coach, Coach Gideon was a finalist to be the head coach up there in Allen. He even went as far as to address all of the players and parents in a press conference about the situation. Who ended up getting that job?

It went to former OC Tom Westerberg.
