Lonny's SuperBracket- We're voting on 1 state champion [Archive]

That's right, boys and girls. I'm doing the SuperBracket (Courtesy of KT and the UIL) with all 96 playoff teams. I'll start it tomorrow with our 32 first round matchups. Each game poll will last a week and whoever gets the most votes moves on to Round 2. We'll have a State Champ after 6 weeks. There will be 3 HUGE matchups in Week 2 if the voting goes according to how I think it will go!;) I know there will be a spirited discussion about those games.

Please vote on the polls and let's keep the discussion going. If nothing else, it means we get to talk about football through the Pro Bowl!:D Seriously, let's discuss strengths and weaknesses and matchups in these games.

This beats the D2 is better discussion we have right now.

I picked Crow, because it's an actual community on Highway 80 just west of Hawkins in Wood County. There used to be a tow truck company out there that advertised, "Need a tow, call Crow!":D

There will be 32 games in Week 2, but it's going to be an all-out war with 2 of them and a 3rd one will get pretty spirited.

There are a handful of pretty good matchups in Week 1, but I expect most things to go according to form during the tournament and follow the D1 and D2 results for the most part.

So you think SLC is going to be upset by the likes of EP Coronado? I think most people will vote honestly and not just try to throw the vote. It will be interesting to see how all of us vote.

It won't work that way...all the Clemens guys will come back...then there's the Lone Maverick...

ItsInTheBag is back. They can't ban him because he changes his IP address. I'm sure he'll help you vote. I'm thinking about making these polls public to cut down a little on people throwing the poll.

I'm not doing it for the post count. I'm doing it because we have a lot of discussion about who was better than who this year. The only democratic way to come to a conclusion about what we feel is to discuss the games and get to a champion in 7 weeks. What we will find is that some teams would've been eliminated earlier in a SuperBracket and that we should all be thankful for our team's success this year. The SuperBracket would've helped some teams get further in the playoffs.

If everybody plays along, we'll have a lot of fun. The increased post count will come naturally. It's a good segway to keep us talking through realignment and recruiting. It's not as easy to talk in the offseason. I say let's have 7 more week of playoffs!:D

true, but as of late you posted more than me, you probalyl spend more hours at the comp a day than me..i just type insanely fast, which allows me to get my thoughts out there a lot quicker..look at the times of my posts, their really close and in chunks

I don't know if this has been said, but make sure that all of the polls are public polls to try and eliminate Homer voting and to laugh at people that vote for EP High over Trinity

it is going to be head to head. Anyone that would vote against Trinity when they are up against a bad team will be outed in a public poll and people will be able to make fun of them. It will keep people honest

My 12 yr old was looking at some of the things here. He asked me dad why do people say our championship was easy??? I told him son most of these people are sore losers, and the rest are just plain jealous. I showed him where alot of you extended your congrats, but there are some that are just plain mean. Well we'll be one and done on this thing you have conjured up Lonny. In closing I explained to my son it is lonely at the top and we have something a heap of other schools want. Can someone tell me why we are so hated on these threads?? Like I always say you green and purple folks seem to think if you don't wear these colors you don't belong!!!!!!!!

This might fill some time, but I don't get it...San Angelo Central could have beat Schertz Clemens...respondents will either be informed (Clemens couldn't hang with the 26-5)...in which case things should work out as they did in real life...or they'll be uninformed and have Clemens in the top 10 all year:p ....and have them beating Madison and SV in your little game...I'll be watching from the bleachers...sorry for the punctuation...I can't end a sentence without a period...:o

The demographics on this board will skew the results... I'm certain the championship game will be the same two teams that made it in 5A Div II... Good chance we'll have a different winner though... :D

By the way, I think you should allow us to view how voters voted... Don't let the homers hide in obscurity...
There is an option when putting up a poll called "Public Poll" That allows anyone to view who somebody voted for by simply clicking on the numbers. If somebody were to make an extreme homer pick the rest of the board could make fun of that person forever

Dyed in the wool fans of certain teams are sure to vote for their own teams - plus, upsets happen in the playoffs (see South Garland vs. Longview), so to rule out some crazy score just because no one thinks it could really happen would be unrealistic in itself. I realize this is just for fun, but I could see it leading to some frustration and bitterness, too.
