to be honest, i'm not in the loop. i'm a couple years out of high school, and don't have a connection to this new coaching staff. people from Los Fresnos had been saying that if San Benito knew what was good for them, they would hire Gantt. so hopefully, he pans out to be a great coach. mix that in with Former Donna HC Dave Evans, and it sounds to be a solid coaching staff.
also forgot donna in my top 10....i'll update it later...it's way too early in the year for me.

united returns a solid and speedy junior QB, experienced middle linebacker, and some others, a couple lineman. I have "no" idea on the sa southwest-united game. it looks tight this time, unless if southwest is bringing in returnees. but yup thats what i see next year from united. Im off to college buddy:D

every area has their constants. right now in 29-5A, it's that United and Southwest are gonna fight for the district. in 27-5A, it's the fight for converse. in 31-5A, it's harlingen vs. PSJA North. 32-5A, LF vs. SB vs. Weslaco. they make the top 10 because they're in the hunt most years.
and yea, trying to finish up by next year at TSTC so i can move on to get my bacholors in Digital Media.

This is really hard to do since I don't know who is returning who and whatnot for all teams in South Texas. All I have is last years results.
That being said, Judson & Wagner should be at the top since they are in 275A. The rest is pretty much whatever and up for grabs. No offense to the valley teams, but CC Carroll should be above most of them (not #10). Even though I hate Carroll with a passion (and they should all DIAF) they still seem to beat Valley schools every year.
Victoria Memorial, even though we suck by my standards, would probably be in there too. We did make the playoffs in 275A and was a minute away from beating CC Carroll.

I don't know enough about the valley teams to give an accurate opinion. There is always a different team that emerges each year as the top team. One year it was LaJoya, then the next its McAllen Memorial, then Harlingen South. San Benito was unbeaten that one year. There isn't a consistent team. Not even Harlingen is as good as they used to be. I don't like Carroll, but they do seem to find a way to win even if its by 1 point. They beat Donna one year when Donna was unbeaten and Carroll had several losses on the year. I think they are in the Top 5 of teams south of San Antonio.
The Corpus district was consistently in Round 3 before the new alignment moved them with San Antonio. It sucks, but oh well lol

depends on what ford does. he's been in San Antonio since atleast friday on that job interview for the HC job at church. if he leaves, they'll (if he stays) prolly name their DC to head coach (can't remember his name).
la maquina will keep on winning. 4a is the weakest district in the valley (in competition) and i don't see EE to fall off the top. they should watch out for mercedes and mission, though.

Oh and watch out for returnee Lamik Mkinnon (29-5A), who didnt play the rest of the season due to eligibility rules. That guy can run! Im looking for del rio to claim that top spot by district's end. Unless if Southwest keeps up wih him. United should prolly get third. Or they can squeeze by southwest, jv beat them this past year. Our only loss was to Del Rio, because they moved Lamik to JV. Our main threat in the playoffs would have to be the 2nd round, w had just lost to Harlingen, badly. 05,06 were weslaco and LF. And we only beat them by about 4 points, both of them. And we had a really tough team those 2 years.

i think its :Censor: that people assume Calallen is just average now. Funny how they lose to 2 RGV teams, now all of a sudden they're "not as good as they used to be". But when the Wildcats got hot towards the end of the season people were like "uh oh here they come they're back"
People tend to forget the 3 losses Calallen had this year were to 3 teams that had a combined 0 losses between them. Could it be maybe Calallen just lost to better teams??

I grew up in that area so I know Calallen pretty well. When you go from a State Semi-finalist every year to losing in the 2nd or 3rd round of the playoffs you're average.
They haven't done jack the last 3 years to prove otherwise. They lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs last year. They have now fallen with the rest of the south texas 5A & 4A teams in not getting past San Antonio/Austin area schools in the playoffs. They lost to Lake Travis and Hays consolidated the previous years in 3rd round. They lost to Beeville last year and Beeville didn't get past the 3rd round either.
I've stated on here many times that Calallen gets by on their name these last couple of years so I'm not in the crowd that says "they're back!"
No offense to EE, but if EE was so much better than Calallen they wouldn't be losing to Port Lavaca Calhoun in the playoffs. They would be in the state semi's like the old Calallen.

RR did you watch the teams that did make it farther?? PLC was legit. People called them overrated but they were legit. They gave a VERY good Pflugerville team a scare, lost by 1 point. And Calallen lost to an undefeated Beeville team who in turn lost to Kerrville-Tivy who was just steam rolling over everyone in the playoffs. Im not hearing the excuses. Calallen just lost to better teams.

No one is arguing that. They lost plain and simple. My point was that Calallen isn't the same dominating team they once were. That is the point we are debating about. They haven't done anything in 3 years. You're upset because you think we are discrediting EE's win over Calallen. All I'm saying is that Calallen isn't the same Calallen and the last 3 years prove that. EE won. EE is better. No one is debating that. It hasn't gotten them anywhere, but they're better.
I don't think PL Calhoun was that great and I am from that area and support them. They are benefiting from moving from Region 3 to Region 4 where they no longer have to play El Campo, Lamar Consol, etc in district. Instead they are playing Moody and Miller. It's no surprise they start winning as soon as they leave that tough district. Pflugerville Hendrickson is too new of a school to be calling them legit. They lost to Lake Travis in district 57-0 and then got rolled by Kerrville Tivy after beating Calhoun. I listened to the Calhoun/Henderickson game and Henderickson controlled it for the most part. CHS made a furious comeback though. Maybe EE just wasn't as good as you thought? I mean, Calhoun beat EE by 20 points....they beat CC Miller by 13, Beeville by 3, CC Ray by 7...all in district. They weren't that great....great teams don't beat teams like Miller by 13 and Ray by 7. Especially a team that was supposed to be a top 10 team in 4A....beating Miller by 13? Please lol

I hear you. But its just like saying Judson isnt the dominating school they once were. Then all a sudden, wut? They're in the state championship. PLC picked it up in the playoffs. EE was neck and neck with them(actually up 14-0 to start) and then they pulled out that 1 damn play we couldn't stop. It frustrated our players and they pulled away in the 4th. I didnt call Pflugerville legit, i said they were a very good team. Either way this is a dumb argument. Cal might not have done much these recent years, but no team looks forward to playing them.
