View Full Version : Should the Regions alternate every other Year?

Carroll has played and won against Lufkin three times in the last four years. If the regions alternated every year, (1-3, 2-4, one year, then 1-2, 3-4, the next) would Lufkin have had a better chance to play for state one of those years?

Lufkin will have it's chance Southlake can't be good for ever, but it would be nice to switch up the regions so its not always dfw vs houston in the finals, with Smithson Valley sliping in every now an again for an appearence. I'd like to see DFW play houston in regionals and see who else emerges.

It should stay like it is. It's set up to save as much travel as possible and I completely agree it should stay just like it is. Besides, I like beating Houston!:p

You are right, I think the travel would take alot of the fans out.

To be fair - would be a three year cycle:

1: 1-2,3-4
2: 1-3,2-4
3: 1-4,2-3

As this could be impacted by the realignment activity every two years - probably not a likely change.

NO!!! No way could we do that. If we did that, then the winner of the Katy, Judson, Smithson Valley, Battle Royale wouldn't get an easy ride to the championship game every year.:D :D

I am bitter, that is my disclaimer, I just wish Longview could get a fair shake and maybe if we rotated the region play, then maybe Longview could get a fair shake...why not alternate the thing teams could meet in a netural site and one team could bring two officals and the other team bring two, I truly don't think the site is to problem, the hidden agendas of the refs are what hurt teams. If you are from the East Texas area, you can bet you are up against it, look at Lufkin and what they went through against South Garland, also what Longview endured, Look at the int, Lufkin had called and incompletion against SLC, those are not site malfunctions, as much and people from the winning squad would like to have people believe, those are matters on integrity or lack there of...The officals get paid money, they get paid money to call games fairly, yet their lack of credibility has been questioned since the start of the playoffs. Many would have you think they have done a great job, and chalk up a meer miss to the fact people are human, well that is like crying wolf, you can only use that so many times, then like anything on earth, it runs out. East Texas, because of its strong showing last year got muscled out of the Playoffs, starting with Longview until there were no more...Noway does SG beat Longview unless Longview racks up over, and I say it again, over 100 yards on penalties in the first half, not the whole game, the first half...Officials are a joke, they lack integrity, at the end of the day why do they get paid, when they are getting their jollies by shaping the outcome of games anyway...IT LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE THAT IS POISONED BY OUR AMERICAN TOUCH, its a joke and it stands for nothing...before you reply read my disclaimer...and know I will never be happy, because this year was special and the Lobos were suppose to be crowned, yet someone saw fit to end that and the sad part is it was not a football team that beat the Lobos...

Will it ever end? Longview had the ball at the end of the game with a chance to win. They choked...it happens. Get over it.

I won't argue that officials sometimes shape games by their calls. I think the NBA is far worse than HS football in Texas for doing that. There is no way Longview loses that game in spite of the refs if they played liked they were supposed to play. The Lobos did most of the work to lose the game for themselves.

I'd like to see a 5A Div III or IV or V...maybe a Region V and VI...

Anything that would get me to a State Title game.:D

Jeez, Lonny, when have you played a team from Houston, I mean you personally? No team from HISD has made it to the semi's in quite a number of years. Oh, you must mean the teams from around Houston, as in the 'burbs. Now, using your definition liberally, wouldn't your beloved Judson Rockettes be the San Antonio Rockettes? Geography and demographics, mate...Not your game.

In addition to rotating the State-semi pairings - could also try to make the divisions meaningful.

If we are going to put four teams up - instead of using size to separate D1 and DII - why not just put top 2 in district into D1 and the next 2 into DII.

Thus the D1 would be expected to be the formal state champ and DII would be, from the start, a consolation path.

Jeezus, have Longview fans ALWAYS made excuses like this? I mean, I know the 1997 team blamed the humidity in Houston as to why they got beat by Katy that year, but c'mon!

Geography is most definitely my game. Wide nominated me for the Bob Phillips Texas Country Reporter Award today because of all the places I've been. I'm always talking about little podunk towns from around the state. Of the 20 UIL teams that played for state titles in football this year, I've been to 17 of the towns in the last year and seen 14 of the stadiums they play home games in within the last year. I've been to every county and drove on all the major highways and I'll finish going to all 254 court houses when I get back from Kyrgyzstan.

When I say Houston, I'm talking about the metro area. I'm well aware of what Houston ISD schools do in football. Although they play in Converse, Judson is most definitely a San Antonio team. The Rockettes did pretty good for being a bunch of girls!:p

I'm the biggest numbers guy on the board, so demographics is not a problem either. Somebody said a few days ago I come up with stats that they didn't even know people tracked.

Do you live in Bodega Bay, California?

I think Crow found me!:p

For those who didn't see my other post, Crow is a small community on Highway 80 west of Hawkins in Wood County. There used to be a tow truck company out there when I was a kid that advertised, "Need a tow, call Crow!" I always liked that and figured I'd list it as my location for a while.
