To all those coming from KT tomorrow, here are a couple of good places to eat right in Irving. All are on the North side of SH-114 between Texas Stadium and the DFW airport.
1 Champs - great sports bar (chain) with large portions and good food.
2. The Keg (same area as Champs) - great steaks/seafood, cool bar, good wine, reasonable for the quality. I drive there from SL 20-25 minutes it's that good.
3. Red/Hot/and Blue - near champs too. Great ribs
4. Best all around rest. in the area is probably COOL RIVER - great food cool atmosphere huge bar with band. This is north on SH-114 to MacArther, then left (south) about 1 mile. On left.
Also at I-35E and Northwest Highway is every restaurant you can imagine including all of the Pappas' restaurants you Houstonites know so well.
travel safely!

Honestly, I think a good place to go is the Grapevine Mills area. Lots of restaurants, shopping if people want it, movie theatre, ice rink, lots of stuff to do if you're bored. Plus the gaylord is a short distance away, and there's lots of the same there. Just go up 121 from 114...can't miss it.

Baby Dolls, Mens Club and Lodge off Northwest Highway minutes from the stadium.
All have great buffets and great expressive art shows in between meals!!!!!
Of course for some reason you need to be over 21.:D

The West End in downtown Dallas is fun. Lots of fun places to hang out and a fun atmosphere. My recommendation is the Gator Bar (not sure if that's the full nam, but I know it has Gator in it) and get the fajita nachos.

For shopping, I still like The Galleria, Valley View, and Prestonwood all within 2 miles of each other. Just off of 635 and the North Dallas Tollway and 635 and Preston Road.

Hey, all you cats from Houston can watch Steve Francis and the Magic lose to the Mavs on Friday Night!:p He still can't ever admit Dallas has a better team than he has. Lot's of people go to the West End before and after Mavs games.

When I posted it, I was wondering if all 3 were still there. I got to thinking that 1 or 2 of them might be gone. It's been a several years since I was up there to go shopping.

I've been to Cool River a few times. Great place to have a cool one, shoot pool and check the scenery. If wife tags along, take it easy on the scenery.

That's a good little treck from the AA Center to the West End.

Not in my books. I always park under I-35 over by the West End when I go to Mavs games. I even jog to the AAC.

That's a good move. There are usually a few police officers there to keep an eye on things.
For those of you who will be staying in Dallas for the entire weekend, head to Snuffer's on Greenville avenue. Get their famous cheese fries.

If you happen to be staying anywhere near the 635 LBJ / US 75 area, a fun place to watch sports and eat BBQ is Bone Daddy's House of Smoke. They have a website. Like Hooters except good BBQ.

Yea Prestonwood is gone, there is a Wal-mart being built there right now. I work right beside it. Hey you can always eat at the stadium, it will only set you back 200 or maybe 300 dollars at the most,,,hehe...not counting your family too.
