Who is Jason Smith from Baylor? Where's he from? What exactly brought on this No.1 pick status? Was he first team all b12 four years running? I'm mystified - fill me in.

Talk about recruiting a "project" kid. That is the ultimate example of a project type of athlete working out for the best.

What brought on the immediate number 1 pick status is the complete and utter fail of Andre Smith at 'Bama. Good night, he is setting a record for fail.

There are these guys in every draft. Not always a number 1 pick, but guys that go from low ranked HS recruits to 1st rounders. Not to say that your chances aren't better as a 5*, but there are LOTS of future first rounders that are not getting looks from the big schools. Two star or less HS recruits from in the 2008 first round:
11
12
14
15
16
19
20
24
30

^^True, Aaron Curry of Wake Forrest is another example of this. Some people are saying he is by far the best defensive player in this draft. I just think its interesting though. I wonder what was going through his mind the day he committed to Baylor as a 6'5" 220 lb tweener.
