Everybody thought 26-5A lost in Week 15, but honorary member Throckmorton Greyhounds beat the Turkey Valley Patriots for the 6-man title on the grounds of the mercy rule.
I hereby call for the following teams to be admitted to 26-5A for just ONE week.
KATY TIGERS in their effort to slay the Dragons. I gotta go with the Houston version of Judson.
CORPUS CHRISTI CALALLEN WILDCATS to get that elusive title over Lewisville Hebron. These guys have deserved a title for a LONG time.
HUTTO HIPPOS over Tatum. Sorry Longview guys, I have to go with Hutto. I even told Redneckn before the year to root for Hutto!:D
PAUL PEWITT BRAHMAS to beat those guys from Celina. I gotta go with a school that's within 20 miles of Mt. Pleasant!
BIG SANDY WILDCATS to beat Stratford and relive the glory of David Overstreet. I have to drive through Big Sandy quite a bit and I have more ties to them in spite of being a Panhandle guy.
Who all is with me? Let's shut out the Metroplex this week!:p

Im not with you at all :D
I hope Hebron can get over the curse that is 1st time appearances in the state game for LISD schools. Lewisville lost its 1st state title game to the Uvalde Cyotes 33-28 in 1972 as they came a yard short of winning.
Marcus lost its first state title game in 95 in somewhat of a upset to SA Rosevelt 17-10. Hebron has a great team, but LISD schools do not fair to well in their first apperance in state championships.
I dont think anyone can beat Celina, some are saying PP will win, I just dont see any team moving the football on this defense.
I saw Tatum last saturday night, the big key is going to be containing the speed and athleticism of the Eagles. They have two stud players their names are escaping me, their numbers are 4 and 7. 4 is a great WR with good size and unbelievable speed. Number 7 is a FB and LB, as a LB he is very good, he is a strong kid with great speed. His ability to read linemen and make tackles behind the LOS is what sets him apart from a lot of players on this level. Tatum is loaded and I think are primed to win a state title.
As far as 5A goes, Im pulling for the metroplex, but this game seems to be to difficult to call. This is the one game I can not get a feel on and I expect it to be like 03, coming down to the final minute.
Heres to a great final weekend of a great 2005 season. Hopefully all teams and fans make arrive safely to and from their games.

I didn't figure you were with me. I kept wondering until a few days ago when you were going to say something about Hebron. You were saying a lot about Trinity and I kept waiting for you to mention the Lewisville school.
I want to make it clear that is what I'm rooting for and not picking. I think SLC wins. I'll go with Calallen in 4A.
Tatum very well might win 3A. I ate at the Subway next to the stadium in August while they were playing a scrimmage and didn't have a clue I was going to be deployed.
Celina looks awful strong. Pewitt is supposed to be #2, so we'll see how this goes.
I'll go with Big Sandy winning 1A.

I have mentioned them in about 3 post since last week. No one responded to it. They are still somewhta of a unkown around the state. They should make some noise next year in their move up to 5A. If they can win this week it will mark the 3rd LISD high school to win a state title in the last 10 years. Thats pretty impressive considering we have 5 high schools in the district.

Actually Newton was number 1 for a long time, then Rita hit and they were off for around 3 weeks, that is when Celina move to number 1 and dropped Newton to number 2. The dream matchup in 2A this year would have been Celina and Newton. Or so they say.

Is Hebron 3A or 4A? Maybe a new kid on the block, kinda like the new kids of 2001? We all know what they have done.

They're a big 4A school that will be 5A next year.

I first saw you mention them a few days ago. I don't remember anything before they played the semifinal game.

After the wylie game there was a topic about HP and I mentioned how I thought they could play with and beat HP. This team is loaded with athletes, they have great size, a great RB, and play outstanding defense. My buddy was at the Frenship game and I went to meet him at Pappsitos after the Trinity/Judson game. Sounds like I missed one heck of a game. Frenship had a WR catch a deep ball, run down to around the 2 before the ball was stripped and went out of the endzone. This was with under 2 mins left in the game and would have tied the game. I honestly think they could beat HP and with a win this week I would have no shame in claiming them the best team in 4A.
Even though they have Lewisville in their name, they are in the city limits of Carrollton, they draw kids from Carrollton and a few from Plano and a few from Lewisville. However they are in the Lewisville school district.

Not our fault at all. We've been trying to give that part of Schertz to Converse for the last 25 years and they just won't take it!:p

That's pretty cool. A few months back we talked about Katy playing like a girl. Big Sandy plays a mean guard, but she's alright off the field!:p
