Can anyone tell me why the national media is so in love with USC. Yes they are a great team, but if you listen to sports radio or read news papers out side of Texas you would think USC is going to play a highschool team. I travel alot and it is being said everywhere that Texas has no chance. God I hope all this guys dont jump on the Texas bangwang when and IF Texas wins.

There's your answer in your own post. How many great defenses tried to handle Indy this year? How many great defenses tried to handle Dallas in the Emitt, Irvin, Aikman years? (Last years Heisman) Qb has an arm, (This years Heisman) ,a running back that tears up good defenses, (this years All American,) receivers and a running back almost as good to rest the other horse.

Has Texas seen an offense like it's about to see before?

ESPN already has this USC team in their list of top 10 college football teams ever. I guess if Texas beats them, this Texas team would become one of the best teams ever? I also like how people say that this is the best offense in college football history yet they did not score the most points this season

bah screw it usc is just a favored fan boy team, sorta like in the early 90's when michigan had possibly one of the most lethal basketball reign's ever.

They had a group called the 5 somthin no one could touchem just impressive on every aspect, but yet the media loved to call them ganster, hoodlum's, token african's, thug's that are a danger to the game, and all kinda crap like that... But they really weren't anything like that just guys that had a love for the game but not matter how good they did every one loved to run to big bad old duke. When Michigan finally made it to the NCAA tournment and got into the final's, the media labled the michigan team everything horrible they could the game was called Good vs Evil.... For 3 or 4 year's while mich had them media just hated them, regardless how good they were even when they were number 1, media still wanted them to lose. Ok so maybe there no leasson in there but the media always has there team they love to kiss *** to, and they all start the same... OMG THIS USC TEAM IS THE GREATEST THEY ARE GONA KILL TEXAS AND BLAH BLAH BLAH. Then the game comes out the opposite and they will spit out every ****** bag excuse they can. Watch next seasson they will jump on texas high horse

I don't think the media hates Texas. But I do think they don't like mack brown, just like they dont like Larry Brown. Maybe it's browns they dont like?

They should just give them the trophy now and not even air the rest of the comparisons. I havent seen a team in the top10 come even close to stopping USC, so why should the top 3 be any different?

The whole idea is a classic exercise in stupdity. It's like asking "how would the modern American military fare against Napoleon or Genghis Khan?" College football has come a long, long way since that '79 Alabama team and especially the 50's team. Nutrition, weights, conditioning. The athletes keep getting better and better.

I do believe that Miami's most recent National Champion would have given 'em a hell of a game. That team was loaded with future pros, and Ken Doresy, though not a great pro prospect was one of the best, smartes college qb's I have seen.

Florida and Danny Wuerffel would also have been a great matchup, and the Nebraska Huskers with Tommy Frazier. Nebraska had a mammoth offensive line that would have ROLLED over SC's already suspect D, and those Husker teams also featured an underrated Defense.

nope...that 2000 OU team was good...hey they kicked the crap out of Texas...I wouldn't put them on my all-time list though...that list is really short...and there are no Sooners on it.

Kirk Herbstreit picked 2001 Miami to beat 2005 USC. Dang, I feel like a psychic. That defense was probably the most talented defensive unit to ever play the game.

I talked to a Texas alumni today who played DB for UT back in the day. He said He thought it would be close, then he said he hoped it would be close. Then he said he just hated hearing about USC all the time, he didnt care who beat them if they would just beat them. He agreed with me that Penn St would give them a better game. He even said he thought Ohio St would. ( I 'm not too sure)
