Exactly! Both of these teams are way too good to give a blowout to eachother. SLC may be rated #1 in the state/nation....but its all statistics! SLC and Katy worked their @$$e$ off to get this far, reguardless of how "Easy" or "Hard" their games were. SLC and Katy will most def not be underestimated whatsoever. Its not a matter of "Its our day" "its our year" "this is the best we've played in years", if we (Katy) get on that field and play the way football is supposed to be played against this team, then we will walk out of that stadium as the victors. If we make mistakes, get penalties, fumbles, turnovers, that makes everything a whole lot easier for the Dragons. and vis versa. Defense HAS to step it up and put a lot of pressure on their QB to get far in this game. Offense has to keep those DBs back and out of our way.

Stats: SLC takes it in this one. Their receivers have so many catched passes and so much yardage, but they don't score that well with carries. For them, this is going to be an air game. I feel really stupid that I'm talking about SLC football and I can't even remember their player's names! SORRY GUYS!! Correct me if I'm wrong, McElroy=QB has a great arm, finds his target, and makes it almost 100& of the time. Dalton is the same way. His accuracy is top notch and his O-Line almost always give him enough time to find an open receiver. Both of these QB's hardly EVER get sacked, so I'm sure that is most def going to be the goal for some of the defensive players.

My prediction is that Katy comes out on top 41-38

That's exactly what you'll be doing, sitting down, not on the field you coward. You're an ignorant moron. You are obviously an uneducated fan who knows nothing outside of southlake, I'd be willing to bet you know very little about the Dragons outside of their record. And please, don't go research everything you can possibly find and write it on here to try to prove me wrong, it is already obvious by your arrogant comments that you know very little about this game. I'm a former player for the Tigers so obviously my heart lies with Katy, but unlike you I will not say Katy is going to blow out southlake, because it is ridiculous for anyone to say either team will win by a large margin. Do I see Katy winning? yes, if they play to their potential and the seniors realize this is the last time they will ever step foot on a football field and step up and lead. Do I see southlake winning? yes, if they keep doing what they've been doing and don't let the Tigers gain confidence againts the #1 team in the nation. To me, no team has a real advantage. I've seen a lot of high school football this year and this game is going to come down to execution. Whichever team forces the other out of the gameplan and into mistakes will come out the victor in a close win. I have Katy picked over Carroll due to Coach Jacobs incredible defensive mind as
well as having key players in key areas. Katy plays as a close knit team rather
than talented individuals and contain a passion to win unsurpassed by any
Carroll team. Truly a tradition of excellence and THE home of champions.

Also, last time Carroll "showed up" against Katy, they lost.... So if you wanna
talk trash at least have the record to back it up. (62 and ONE)

Last time I checked, it was coach Joseph..and son, Southlake definently has the record to back it up. 62-1 speaks for itself. Yes the 1 loss is from us, but that was 2 seasons ago. What the 2003 tigers did has no effect on what the 2005 tigers will do. I don't think we can accurately say our passion to win is greater than Carroll's either..again: 62-1. They obviously want to win and the passion will be there saturday for revenge on the only blemish on their record, and hell, its the state championship why wouldn't they have passion?

Dang newbie posters jumping on here just because Katy is going to state. Y'all are making us look bad..but of course SLC has their share as well

How do you think Katy's secondary compares to Lufkin's and Plano's? Not saying that Katy's secondary has to be better than their's to get the job done Saturday, I'm just wondering how they compare. I thought Lufkin's and Plano's was very good.

I think this will be a nailbiter.

I would think Katy coaches are feeling much better offensively after watching SLC give up 27 to a one-dimensional Plano and 28 to Lufkin with no qb -- as opposed to the AHS massacre. I have no reason to believe Katy won't score 28-35 against SLC unless the Katy offense is slow.

Defensively I think Katy will bring a much better secondary than Plano or Lufkin did. Lufkin struggled all year against the pass and Leonard was playing hurt. Plano played well on D, but got tired - if their O could have mounted some second half drives they would have held SLC to 30 - not bad.

Add those two factors in - Katy scoring plenty and offering a more rounded D than Lufkin or Plano - and you have a ballgame. The only way I don't see this analysis holding true is if Katy is simply a major step below Plano and Lufkin in offense and team speed.

There is one more thing, there are no stars on this team. Katy football is about the TEAM. This will be the deciding factor.

That's the second time I've heard Katy has the will to win and SLC doesn't. Where do you possibly get off saying that? You think Carroll is gonna let up when it has a chance to avenge our only 5A loss? That's rediculous. And in case you hadn't noticed, yeah, we have some stand out names, but our offense is one of the most spread out anywhere. On average, we have 7 or 8 guys with receptions all over the field, 2 or 3 runners, and every team member knows that they are only as great as they are when they are a unit. I appreciate your team spirit, and agree that Katy will have 'the will to win' and is all about team, but to say that we don't is some twisted sense of self-delusion and denial.

Carroll had a great game. We deserved to win after all the training and hard work we pulled it off. But the hard work wasnt the only reason why we won. We played with heart that not all teams have. We wanted to win so our mindset was to win and we were successful. Go Carroll Dragons! State Champs

As far as my analysis: I think Katy faltered on tackling. Too many missed, and arm tackles. Southlakes O-line gave McElroy great pass protection. I thought that the Katy quarterback gave a great effort. Southlake's linebackers were incredible. Southlake's receivers were incredible.
