actually Riley is a restricted free agent, but Coach Dodge is wanting to offer him a 2 year contract, which he'll probably take. those are just rumors though

i belive the last milestone posts (600th, 500th, 400th) you have made fun of me, but that post was worth it, you used common sense to prove somebody wrong!

With all the success Greg McElroy has had as a Senior break-out - will Coach Dodge reconsider putting Riley up as starter next year (his Junior year) and hold him till he is a Senior?

This would take any pressure off Riley as QB (and the associated stats and expectations) from having less experience in O-Line next year (due to huge Senior turnover). If so, Coach Dodge could focus on building a squad that would surround and protect young Riley in following year when he is a Senior. One great year would probably be better than getting tainted next year during rebuilding with any stats the following year getting averaged which may diminsh certain categories (e.g. yds/throw, TD/INT, sacks/gm, etc).

Are there any other sure-armed QB prospects at SLC from JV or Scout team who could handle things during the reload next year?

A district competitor with an enquiring mind wants to know.

If I am not mistaken Dodge went to school at Port Arthur Jefferson not Memorial.

Why the hell would a HS coach that is receiving College offers want to go to a program in need of re-building?

To re-prove yourself?

Memorial is the old TJ. Just re-named and more students added. Same building.

Before someone else says it, like they do every off season:

Dodge's father in law was the AD at Westlake and his family lives in Austin. He's always wanted to get back to the area. If Coach Long retires, look for Dodge to get a call from the Eanes ISD.

Won't happen though. I don't see him going anywhere but college, but not until Riley graduates.

*sighs* Why on earth would you turn down a college job to go to a different HS. There isn't a better place(a select few are equal) to coach than SLC in AMERICA at this level... Why leave SLC for a lateral move...

I totally agree. Riley has proved himself this year and has made some clutch plays during the playoffs. He's ready and should be a part of any "restacking" that the rest of the team must go through.

p.s. The red-shirt comment led me to post that... I've wondered craziness that that myself before.
