no.
by and large, these things do not happen.
large-scale alterations (like this one) have to be peer-reviewed unless the editor in question has a large "wikipedia rank" (not a real thing).
It seems to me that this was a misuse of that trust.
99.9% of the articles on wikipedia are as close to 100% true as possible.

That was me.
Wikipedia is user-written, and isn't accepted as a source in any school in the country. It's not always true though.
