In reading all these Katy/SLC threads I can't help but notice how many of you are still posting despite your losses. MAJOR KUDOS. You have all shown me what it is to be a true-blue football fanatic. I'm simply amazed at how obsessive you all seem to be even when your own team is out of the hunt. I can say (embarassingly) that had SLC lost any of these games I would definetly come back on the board to congratulate your team, but then hibernate for AT LEAST 2 weeks. lol (Hibernate = wallow in selfpity and despair). Unlike myself there are tons of you that have comeback and stuck with the boards pointing out SLC's strengths and weaknesses, 'said' game's good and bad points, and the upcoming Katy game. I for one truly appreciate your unbiased opinion(s) on the team and your fanmanship <-- don't know if that is a word. Anyway not to be all sentimental but you have my admiration as true fans of "the game."

You're correct. Once Copperas Cove lost, I did some wallowing myself. But I am going to go watch SLC and Katy, so I guess the period of morbid depression is now at an offical end.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA that funny. I was just picking on ya:)
Getting beat is not the end of the world. You ride er til she bucks you off. There can be only one in the end and right now it is SLC until til someone knocks them off. I'm afraid it won't be this year, but Katy has the next shot at it. We had our shot and didn't get it done. A lot of HS in Texas have had great runs. Eventually someone else will have their run and we'll all think they are great. It's a cycle! Nevertheless, SLC has grabbed a hunk of mane and has sunk spur. (John Wayne) Maybe next year we'll get another shot at it.

You're right - getting beat is not the end of the world. But it damn sure can feel like it sometimes. Fortunately that feeling goes away and is replaced with an appreciation for what your team was able to accomplish. It does make it a bit easier knowing that Lufkin will be back strong as an ox next year. Just wish I didn't have to wait so damn long to see them back on the field.
With that said, I am a HUGE basketball fan. This is a great time of year and I am looking forward to some terrific basketball games/teams/posts. Should be a fun winter!:D

My team didn't even make the playoffs, and I have never left. This has to be the best site for football anywhere!

Ike doesn't need to go home. They seem to be doing a good job staying home lately!:p

People just move on - some move on after talking trash, others after posting thoughtfully - some come back and say congrats and move on, others don't.
Unlike me, most don't like to come back and re-hash a loss:)

Do you want me to help you rehash it? Hey, I'm always willing to help!:p
Well, after this weekend. 99% of the teams in the play-offs will have one thing in common. We lost our last game of the year. No shame in our last game. The team & coach's gave it their best shot. We'll be back next year!

High school football is my favorite sport!!! College second, then the pros. High school its all about pride and being recognized, college pretty much the same thing. Pro is almost stupid now, all about the money!!! And Texas has the best football in the US plain and simple!! Good luck to all that are still in it.

Indeed they did give their best shot. For those who want to see clutch football we can only lament that Claybon wasn't part of the final mix. No disrespect for Ralph but a full helping of SLC and the Pack could have been one a** kicking game.

I was watching the game but it is now halftime and I am not ready to watch the conclusion yet.....maybe after Christmas. I didn't watch last years game until the summer. Lufkin will come out strong again next year, but for now thanks for a wonderful season.

Well for us I don't think most Plano fans are taking the loss to SLC as bad as we did the Lufkin loss in 01.
For us we had to carry the mark of an 0-10 season from two years ago and for Plano trust me those were dark days.
Plano fans have had to get used to the fact that our total talent pool was diluted by the opening of Plano West. We are no longer the SLC of today where we have our choice of almost 100% or at least 50% of every student in Plano.
As a result if you asked most Plano fans at the start of this year you would have heard things like "We will be improved and hope to make at least the first round of playoffs." I don't think anybody in Plano was preaching we would win District not knowing in advance two big wins against Allen and East and the complete implosion of West considering where they were a year ago.
For this reason Plano fans expectations were exceeded, we won district 12-0 went 3 deep in the play-offs. Played a great game against the best team in the nation and odds on winner for State Champs SLC.
Most would feel dejected "we don't". We look at this season as the official turn of the corner. We have our starting line coming back next year, should field a very good defense and the starting tailback is faster and a better runner than Justin Jordan.
For us attending the game on Sat. to see SLC and Katy will be very exciting and of course participation on this board is addicting.

HS Football! We all love it. I think most on this board enjoy posting with folks all over the state. HS Football is pure and I enjoy watching almost any HS game. While down in Wimberley this October, I got to see the 3A Div. 1 State Champion Texans play ball. What a cool stadium and a great team.
I hate to see the season come to an end but the off season is normally interesting.

First let me thank Plano and Lufkin fans. What a great bunch of fans. Lufkin should be loaded to the gills next year. Good luck to both.
