which of those guys is the one that was rescued?

dude's either going to be motivated as crap to honor the loss of his buddies

or

he's going to drive himself crazy with survivor's remorse.

pray for all of them and their loved ones...

Hypothermia can cause you to lose touch..the survivor said that the other three thought they saw a light and took off their jackets to swim toward it.

Yeah I read that too.....that's sad.

Is it me, or is a 21 ft boat too small to be 50 miles off shore?

Waaay too small. And they were anchored in very rough water, which is nuts...it causes the boat to ride much more violently as it tugs on the anchor.

First thing I thought.....I'm no expert, but I wouldn't be comfortable on a 21 footer 2 miles out in the gulf.

I know nothing about boating or water - scared of both because I can't swim. Long story short, my wicked grandmother thought she would teach me how to swim and threw me in the deep end of a pool. It caused a lifelong fear of water, unless I'm on a beach looking at it. The only boats I have been on are 3 cruise ships and a 36 foot sailboat which scared me enough even though we were on a very calm Long Island Sound. So, this seems to have been a small boat no doubt. Again, I don't know much about boating but it seems like they may have had a better chance if they had ridden the waves and not been anchored down?

Very sad indeed either way.

This is so sad and my heart goes out to their families... Drowning at sea would be way down my list of ways to go. The feeling of loneliness and being helpless would be so terrible.

God rest their souls. I thought the same thing, offshore in a 21 ft. boat.....not me.

reminds me of that movie Open Water where the couple was left stranded by the boat in the middle of the ocean. they looked around and all they could see was water as far as the eye could see, which is what these victims likely saw. very sad and scary way to die.

I thought that as well but couldn't remember the name of the movie...

Yes it is...especially in rough seas...
This is another sad story...
Man has to know his limitations...
