SLC won the toss and took the ball. DFF confirmed Dodge never defers these days. Lufkin would have deferred anyway. Greg got flushed, stripped, fumbled, Lufkin recovered and took an early lead on a quick pass play. Sometimes it works out - sometimes it doesn't.

Huh? Dragon fans.I saw/talked to McKay and his dad, Evan, this weekend. The Dragon team is more focused today than I've ever seen them. They are cool, confident and very determined. Mentally they appear to be in very good shape.

Benoist, Jacobson, and Agnew remember '03. They may not be mouthin' much about it, but there's something to be said for 3 of your capts being present at the only 5A defeat...

They may not say it openly, but they want a lil revenge. As far as whether or not they will get it? We'll see in 5 days.


As far as the pressure? Dodge claims there is none for this game. Most of this 'pressure' is really just assumed-pressure by outsiders. These kids seem to thrive on this sort of thing. They love the spotlight.

I can guarantee they say it openly. Even the people who weren't playing in that game want revenge. The city is like one big team, if you lose, everyone that was on the losing end wants revenge. Whether you're 50 or 5 years old... everybody will want revenge if they lost to a team and don't get to play them every year, sometimes every few years... but in some cases never again after that one. Both teams are very aware that this is not a every year occurance. Leave it all on the field because their may not be another chance after that final second ticks off the clock.
