Who would you rather have as the starting QB on your dream team. Remember to keep in mind leadership, composure under, as well as ability. Dont just look at the stats.

Isn't this really going to be a poll of how many Katy fans there are as opposed to how many SLC fans there are?
I doubt anybody that's a NTex SLC backer has even seen Andy Dalton...

p.s. No knock on you, just pointing that out. Maybe after Sat, I will say 'omg, he was impressive'

Your probably right but most people have listened and seen enough of both to come up with an educated answer. Your right that most southern people will vote foior Dalton and Norther for McElroy. But a lot of people know how good both really are for differing reasons. Hopefully we will get some educated votes.

this should be multiple choice.
I would have picked J. Claybon or Snead if they were on here.

I'll chime in on Greg - haven't seen Dalton. Greg throws the best deep ball I've ever seen a hs qb throw - period. Lufkin's plan this year was to give SLC the deep ball and nothing more - bad gameplan to some degree - but PYP does come to mind.
Against a speedy D like Lufkin Greg was no running threat - no way in the world the kid runs for 100 yards against LP - unless he carried it 40 times. Greg becomes a very ordinary hs qb if you get him to move out of the pocket - my quick memory says he was about 0-4 against Lufkin throwing on the run. In his 6-7 long ball completions he had perfect downfield vision and was able to step up into each throw.
Easier said than done - but if Lufkin played SLC again this week - we'd allow him to run 15 times knowing a 10 yard run would be about his max against us - and we'd run middle blitz stunts to get his feet moving.
All in all - I rate Greg a full step down the scale from Chase Daniel - a significant step down largely because he's really only effective as a pocket passer against a fast D. Chase could burn you in dozens of different ways - a complete, unstoppable package. But, Greg will burn you crisp if he's got time to throw the ball - and he's had time 15 weeks straight.

That's about as realistic of an assessment of Greg as I have read all year long..
Well done...
Daniel *is* the better QB. I tend to cut Greg some slack knowing that this is his first year against varsity competition. One of the reasons Daniel was so outstanding his SR year was because of the Katy meltdown.
You almost *HAVE* to win/lose a close one in order to learn how to be a true champion... In '03, SLC had 1 decently close game before Katy, but I don't think it was ever reaaaally in doubt.. That was the Monterey game.
Reference USC / ND this year. SLC last year had 3 REALLY tight games in the playoffs, and I think they had the upper hand because of 16-15 the year before. This year, SLC has had Plano and Grapevine...
In short, if Greg had 2 years like Chase did... Look out...

Your right it's a fan rating. No homey's should be abel to vote.

I do think Greg will start a year or two at Tech - Leach will continue his typical 5th year senior routine I assume. His arm and mechanics are hard to beat - and he will get quicker with a good qb coach in college. I don't recall Drew Brees being fast.
