It was um....just a little excessive force...
just a little...
Her imposing bodyfame easily dwarfed over the officer and all he could do was throw her down by her hair and lay in a couple of good ones.
Not really?

The main problem is see is that if she was really guilty of committing a crime of car theft is now going to be overlooked or dismissed because of the officer not acting professional.
I ain't gonna lie...the girl was probably mouthing off and yes she did kick her shoe towards the officer. Still no excuse for him being that aggressive on a teenage girl.
The main problem is see is that if she was really guilty of committing a crime of car theft is now going to be overlooked or dismissed because of the officer not acting professional. they'll prolly drop her charges to get the officer off, which is stupid. she needs to get hers

No need to put myself in his shoes for we most likely have all had bad days at work or stressed out. His job is of a higher-profile and put it this way...if me and another individual get in a fight, I'm likely fired, right? Customer cusses me out because of their bad day. (Yes...that has happened before.) I can just go across the counter and knock them the fu** out. My a** is in jail...
Sorry...you have to restrain yourself. Bad day or not, you just have to do it otherwise if you let your emotions get the best of you, bad consequences will follow.

It looks like she is white.
I think the cop went way overboard in the treatment he made to that girl. I also think people tend to forget that those guys/gals behind the uniform are humans that are prone to human error. No telling what crap he had to deal with all day or what he had to deal with from that girl that wasn't captured on film. Have someone poke you in the eye, slap your face, shoot at you and at the end of the day you too might snap. Just hope it doesn't get caught on film.

She deserved it. Sorry but she's being investigated for auto theft? And is talking back, not cooperating, and throwing her shoes at officers? Then, when she was pinned she would not put her hand behind her back. Maybe a little excessive, but thats too bad for her.

No you know what happened in the video. You don't know what kind of troubles she gave police when she was arrested. You don't know what was said while she was standing in the doorway, nor what was said to the officer by her before she go to that cell. She wasn't hit in the face, nor did she have any broken bones. It was hard for her to breath after. She probably go the wind knocked out of her. Sorry but you don't :Censor: with the police.

I was kidding about making her eat the shoe and washing it down with a glass of raccoon diarrhea. If you're a grown man and have to use that much force to take down a 15 year old girl than you got a vajayjay between your legs.

lol, Rhianna deserved it too. Na jk.
In both cases it shouldn't have happened. But which is worse? The police officer or Chris Brown? I'd say Chris Brown. The cop went too far in subduing her, but Chris Brown shouldn't have touched her.

Domestic dispute is completely different from someone acting afool towards the cops.
I love the line in "Liar, Liar!" when Jim Carrey's client claims he doesn't want to go back to jail, and the truth-stricken attorney exclaims, "Quit breaking the law!"
No way the kid has any issues if she's "yes, sir,"; "No, sir," all the way through the process, and the cop has every right to expect a basic level of respect.

Uh, yeah it was. If the little :Censor: was going to throw shoes and run her mouth then she deserves what she should have been getting from her parents years prior to this little incident.
What you don't see is the events that took place prior to the short video. I bet she was biting, kicking, and being very violent.
I don't feel bad for her. We have become soft on crime.

If remember one time my younger sister got furious with my father her freshman year of high school when he refused to let her go on a date with a young man who had serious trust issues. She screamed at him, cursed, and was completely disrespectful. Had he responded in any way like the officer on that video, I would have called the police to have him arrested.
Before I went back to school I substitute taught. I had 15 year old smart :Censor: talk back to me all the time, curse me, whatever. I felt the urge to react that way, but never did. I knew that as the person with authority I had to control myself, even when provoked by punks.
Everyone has the "right" to expect a basic level of respect. We don't always get it, but an action that would land me in the clink is just as wrong for a police officer. He has a right to use force to restrain her, to arrest her, to prevent her from being a threat to others. He has no right to use extreme force to shut her mouth.
There is simply no justification for what happened on the video. She posed no threat to the officers safety. She did not make a move to leave her cell. Police officers are given great authority and responsibility and this one failed to use it judiciously.

It would sure help matters if people that break the law would show more respect for those paid to enforce the law. I think I just said a funny. How would a person that comitted a crime react to a police officer..respectfully?

assault on a police officer is a crime right? she was doing more than running her mouth...
I'll put up my methods of discipline and corrective techniques with anybody. our kids see what some other kids do to their parents and just roll their eyes and laugh about the hell they would catch at our house. We are constantly inundated with compliments about our kids' behavior, and it will stay that way because it is the expectation.
I understand this is a jail and not my house, but I am simply addressing your own anecdotal account in that tough love can be, and in fact is, a very effective teaching tool. my kids would never throw a shoe at a cop, not because of fear of anything that would happen at jail, but out of respect for me and their mother. That's the biggest travesty in today's society- too many folkks think showing respect is a sign of weakness, when in reality, it is a demonstration of strength.

Tough love= smacking a teenager's head against the wall/floor?
Question-- would you ever do what that officer did to your child, even if s/he kicked a shoe at you? Would you do it in public?

Any man--- dad, uncle, grandpa, cop---who could do that to a 15 year old girl is not a man. Period. No matter what she says, no matter what she's doing. The only excuse to do something even similar than that to a 15 year old girl would be to prevent the immediate threat of harming herself or others. No, kicking a tennis shoe and standing there afterwards is not an immediate threat of harm.
Simply no excuse at all. I am having a hard time understanding what sort of "tough love" slorch is advocating towards teenaged girls if this is the sort of thing he's justifying.

where did i say this guy shouldn't be held accountable? what he did was wrong.
Your post gave the impression that if not for the intertubes and the video, this could all be brushed under the rug. My response is that there would be nothing to brush under the rug if the officer in question had the capability to maintain a modicum of self control.

but i hate it that cops are always the bad guys. the **** they put up with is rediculous and often goes ignored by people. they serve and protect. what this guy did was obviously excessive and is wrong and it's a shame that everything he's done up till now will be forgotten because of one security camera and the internet.
of course he might have done some good things no doubt, but u know the "eye" in the sky is watching soo if you're caught doin' bad especially cops its just damn stupid on his part and he deserved to be exposed maybe he'll do it again, maybe not .....and yes police are here to Protect and Serve but not to Protect and Serve u a can of Whoop @ss like that....especially a girl

I don't see how anyone could say it was anything but the wrong way to handle the situation... If it had been in public and she was some type of threat, maybe some of it... Maybe... Punching her while she was down and picking her up by her hair was just flat wrong... Hell, she was already in custody, just shut the door... Not a manly way to act at all... With power comes responsibility...

no, i've gotten the impression from some of the posts in this thread that this isn't a surprise that a cop did this...what they do shouldn't be forgotten and they get a bad rap from isolated events like this. what he did was wrong, that's not in question. calm down, commie.

in all honesty it isn't the cop's job to teach her. it's the responsibility of her parents, who obviously missed that boat already judging by her actions.

It was excessive, but stop saying she was beaten. Can you see where he was hitting her? Looked like he was trying to get her arms behind her back. He shouldn't have been hitting her, but then again she shouldn't have been there to begin with.
Honestly. Criminals get what they deserve. Yes she's just a 15 year old girl (who only stole a car). Big whoop right?

Rocket, all the cop had to do was shut the door to that room, walk away, and cool down before he tried to deal with her again.
You seen the video, he throws at least 4 punches and slams her hard against the wall and the floor. 2 of those 4 punches came after he had her pinned down.

He didn't punch her in the head rocketgrl. Look at the video. He is trying to get her hand behind her back, she was resisting. If he had been hitting her in the back of the head she would have injured her nose as it was pointed into the ground. Her only injury was that she was hard of breathing afterwards?
Everyone is saying how much bigger he is than her, and how much force he used. Wouldn't she have some injuries if he was really hitting her in the head?
The part of the video that I thought was excessive was picking her up by the hair. When he rushed her, she struck out with her hands. Big no no.

So if she ran from the cops earlier that is an excuse to beat her down LATER? If she ran from the cops EARLIER then they have the authority to take her down while that was happening. Not later in the cell.
