Well, we can wreck on them Lampasas boys like we do in every other sport...
IF Cove goes to 4A, you can write the next 4A State Champ. Is another school being built or something to take kids away?

No, another school isnt coming...weve always floated around 2000 students....there is about 30,000 in Cove, mostly Military...This year we reported in at 1940...I dont think there will be another HS in Cove in my Lifetime

If your enrollment is on the bubble between 4A and 5A, dont you have the option of staying in 5A? Or are you forced to move down?

Dallas Carter is in the 1,800's ever year and they are always in 5a. You must have an option?

I think it depends on your district area zone.

Cove won't go 4A they are at 2100 right now and even if they don't make the "cutoff" they will petition to stay 5A.

That would explain why the Laredo 5a school's have 1,500!! That stuff is too confusing to understand??

there are supposedly stiff restrictions as to how schools can opt up, and just wanting to isn't enough. it has to do with travel problems, one school district districts, etc. the laredo schools fit the bill, but ccove more than likely wouldn't. if they turned in 1940, it's a done deal, because the cutoff is looking like 1976-1980, based on 245 schools in 5a.

But dd is right...you can't elect to stay 5-A now like you used to.......you have to have some sort of special travel handicap or something........Houston Yates for years elected to stay up......and now they are 4-A.

With the amount of 4A and 5A schools so close in the area they will go where the UIL says they will go. There are no travel problems for either side in this one so i would like to see us in 4A. The we could play a couple 5A teams and people would get off our "weak" pre district schedules against 4A teams.

OPTING UP OR DOWN?
This year the UIL has told several districts that there will not be a waiver given to schools to opt a team to a higher classification. The only exception, according to the UIL, is for a school district that has more than eight schools or if a there is some severe driving miles involved.
Opting Up
Fort Bend ISD- Willowridge did not turn in 5A numbers but Willowridge will be opted up to 5A
Corpus Christi ISD- Our current projections show Moody(1960) and Miller (1371) not making 5A's cutoff. CCISD has decided not to opt their teams up because of the large number of Corpus Christi area teams in 4A.
Laredo ISD- Martin turned in 1945 and Cigarroa turned in 1708, neither have 5A numbers. Laredo ISD confirmed that they would like to opt these teams up however the UIL has not indicated whether they will allow Laredo ISD to opt their schools up. We do think that the UIL will allow the Laredo schools to opt up.
Laredo United ISD- Johnson turned in 1528 but UISD has asked for them to be opted up. According to an official in the AD's office "the UIL initially said that their would be no waiver allowed, however in October they softened their stance". As previously said we believe that the UIL will allow the Laredo schools opt up into 5A.
Dallas ISD- they will opt up Dallas Carter to keep them in 5A.
4A TEAMS WHO WILL RISE TO 5A- some of the schools that were new in 2004 have grown and are now full fledged 5A schools while Klein Oak, who dropped down because of being split, is now back to 5A numbers. Other schools have just grown and are now 5A such as two more valley schools in Lopez and Memorial.
2370 - Keller Central
2361 - El Paso El Dorado
2300 - Klein Oak
2246.5 - Wylie
2216.0 - Justin Northwest
2183 - Brownsville Lopez
2168 - Lewisville Hebron
2104.5 - Channelview
2072 - Mansfield Timberview
2040 - PSJA Memorial
2180+ - Houston Westbury
5A TEAMS MOVING TO 4A- Researching this was fun. some of this was easy to figure out such as a small 5A school splitting in half, you know they will go 4A, others was a bit more difficult to track down but we found them. Every team under 2200 enrollment last time was contacted or we tried to contact them. So here are the teams that are on the move on our current projections and you can bank these. Check out the Centex trio moving to 4A in Copperas Cove, Belton and Waco. Those three along with the others will make 4A very very strong in 2006.
1960 - Corpus Christi Moody
1959.5 - Copperas Cove
1946 - Belton
1921.5 - Keller Fossil Ridge
1919 - Austin Crockett
1908 - Buda Hays
1863 - Denton Ryan
1860 - Houston Austin
1850 - Eagle Pass
1850 - San Antonio Jefferson
1843 - Huntsville
1831 - Waco
1808 - Dallas Samuell
1805.5 - Saginaw Boswell
1755 - Schertz Clemens
1371 - CC Miller
NEW SCHOOLS OPENING UP IN 4A- These are the new kids on the block, without the bad haircuts and dance moves, with some impressive credentials from areas that have had recent success such as Katy, Schertz, and Denton.
Eagle Pass Winn
Katy Seven Lakes
Buda Lehman
Schertz Steele
Denton Guyer
Frisco Liberty
Saginaw High
McKinney Boyd
Rockwall Heath
4A TEAMS THAT ALMOST MADE IT TO 5A- close but no cigar for these teams who will be happy that they are the biggest teams in 4A.
1975 - Dallas Highland Park- missed it by one
1974 - EP Andress
1961.5- EP Del VAlle
1952 - Palo Duro
1949 - EP Ysleta
1943 - Boerne
1931.5- Midway
1929 - Arlington Seguin
1925 - Cedar Park Vista Ridge
1915 - Mission
1911.5- San Antonio Harlandale
1911 - Waxahachie

Thats total BS...COVE and Shoemaker report same numbers...Belton reports 150 more than both of those and more than TEMPLE...so what you are saying is they are increasing to 4 playoff teams and perhaps 8 team districts but they are going to make half of this particular district 4A...rumors:confused:

Wow Waco, and Cove should do really well in 4a. I think they will have a shot at titles next season. Looks like HP figured out a way to do it again. missed the 5a cutoff by 1 single student. They are good at doing that.

So according to this, Cove and Clemens 2 5A STATE contenders will drop down to 4A. UIL needs to have some kind of legacy/top 10 clause so that schools that deserve to be 5A don't drop into 4A. Plus there is gonna be a new school in Converse and a new school in Katy so they might be something to look at in a few years

You have an option if you're keeping an ISD together like Dallas, Laredo, Corpus, etc. I don't think the 1 school towns have a choice.

I've gone to see the pecan a few times, but the last time was in March.
I was talking about the statue at the court house.
His grave is on the hillside next to the Civic Center at the Fair Grounds.
The stadium is OK. It wasn't great, but it's pretty good for the 2A and 3A playoff games they get there. I had to go because one of my co-workers used to talk about how nice the stadium was and it was a shame other teams got to play there more than the Matadors because they never make the playoffs.

Hey, have you ever gone by the Sebastapol House? It looks kinda cool with the old-style architecture. I drove by there and they weren't open and decided to look inside the windows and head towards Gonzalez and Goliad.

Yeah, that is the statue I was talking about. I guess that shows how much of a Seguin historian I am.. not knowing about Seguin's grave. BTW...Who's Juan Seguin? What was his signifigance? lmao.. pretty sad, eh? I spent all my time in McQueeney/New Braunfels!:D
How can you not love Matadors stadium? To me, it is the greatest place to ever watch a game (biased). The food at the games is awesome.. even though most teams have the same... at Matador stadium... it taste like heaven. I guess it is just something about being there. Although a nice size, the stadium could use a few more stands now... we sell out too many games. I liked when they put down that grassy turf a few years ago. It would be sweet if we ever dished out money for a jumbotron. With the new basketball stadium that was built last year... overall, Seguin has nice athletic facilities.

Are you kidding me? Like a million times. Went there on a stupid little half field trip in fourth grade to see George Bush speak. Plus, right next to the Sebastapol is the Activity Center... I have spent more time there than anywhere. I spent my summers, Saturdays, and after schools playing basketball there. It wasn't the greatest court but that is a place near and dear to my heart!

Here's your answer.

The field looks nice and the size is OK. It's not a bad place to see a game, but it's not All-Pro compared to some stadiums I've seen and you expect a lot when you hear glowing remarks.
