View Full Version : Ou Loses James Henry, There Is A God!

The San Antonio Express News reported today that James Henry has changed his verbal committment from OU to UT.:) He will play strong safety for the National Champions starting next year. I guess the broken leg and ankle proved to be a good thing (not serious,:( just joking) for him because he couldn't get on the plane the next morning and go to that toilet of a town, Norman OK. Good gracious, even the name of the town is ugly. Sorry if there are any Normans on the board.:p

He's a stud. 6'2, 215 with sprinter's speed, and will bring it when playing in the D backfield! He's been playing TB the last couple of years, actually since the middle of his Sophomore year. He was moved from Safety against Judson when he ran for 160 yards and 3 TDs to win the game in the 3rd and 4th quarters. He has always been better on the defensive side of the ball, but was also a hell of a RB. He is an outstanding athlete with unlimited potential. He has the talent and ability to play on Sundays as long as he does not sustain a serious injury in college.

I vote we start calling all the Sooners that.

Beautiful! It's a done deal. The best year of my life will be when every Texas school whips their *** by at least 50 in the same year! But they did have Brian Bosworth (I really think he's a in-the-closet homosexual), the best college linebacker that ever played the game. Just ask Bo Jackson!

I was thinking the same thing badger! Put 30 or 40 pounds more of steel on that frame and keep the speed. Oh my gosh, that could be pure terror to the running backs looking across that line at him!

Bottom line is that he is a good kid who has a bright future in front of him. He took his HS carreer ending injury with grace and I believe that Henry with the grace of God will become an All American at UT. I can't wait to watch him progress at the college level.

I was thinking the same thing. He(Dr.) wanted to do it yesterday but he was booked up so he said if we made it through the week he wants to take care of us first. So we have to be there at 5. I was thinking.....what should be the first think my daughter hears from me when she comes to the world. I was thinking about having my head down there and as soon as a saw an ear, tell her "No boyfriends until you move out".....lol

They do that kind of thing. Doctors. When my daughter was born, they decided to induce labor. They tell us to be there at 5am. When my son was born we all knew ahead of time it was gonna be a c section. Again, 5am. I tried to explain to them that at 5am I am useless. The doc looks at me and says: "We're doing the operation, you can just sit there and watch." I say: "Oh, I thought I was gonna have to do something."
4 days later our smurf...uh I mean son was born. He was blue when he came out. I was freaked out pretty good. I looked at my X wife and says: I knew you were f-ing papa smurf." Everybody got a pretty good laff. Ok. X didnt. But everybody else did.

Both of my girls came out blue. The first one had her umbilical cord tied around her neck and the 2nd one had heart valve problems that cleared up later on.

Anybody going to Texas to play SS has to beat out Robert Joseph period. If he doesn't get red-shirted he'll start at SS next year.

I would say that James will probably red-shirt and put on some more muscle. I look for him to see the field pretty regular by his sophomore year (third year).

Yeah, it's the guy that was supposed to lead a great Clemens class to a state title before he graduated. He better do better than Yaniv Barnett who got busted for drugs 3 times in his first year at Arizona.

Lonny, I really don't care if you hate Clemens, like us, love us, or whatever, but if you can't admit that James Henry is a special talent (especially with all that great football knowledge you have), then you are more of a meat head than I thought! I don't know if Clemens would have gone any farther than Madison with James in there because when you play like they did that night, just about anyone in the playoffs is going to hand you your ***. But I can tell you this much, with him in the game, it sure gives the other D something to think about because if you miss one tackle, he's gone. Or if you don't hit him as hard as you can and wrap up, he's gone! A great player like him makes a huge difference to any team, unless you are just loaded with gifted players, say like Dallas Carter in 88 or CJ in 83'.

I'm really glad that your enjoying the fact that this talented, polite, young man had to go through what he's going through.

As far as Yaniv, aren't we supposed to leave personal stuff off this board? Besides, it wasn't three times, it was only once! Anyway, he got his **** straight and is kicking some serious *** now. He was probably the most dominant D-lineman to play HS ball in this area, ever! If you watched him in person his senior year you would not even question that! He was double and triple teamed every play of every game and still had something like 140 tackles. Oh, by the way, he was beat out of 1st team all-state honors be the kid from SV that year. The SV kid had something like 90 tackles and was somewhere around 6ft and 200lbs. What a joke!

Texas recruits plenty of big speedy secondary type kids and turns them into linebackers if they are players, but not the quite good enough to play secondary at the D! level. They recruit large linebackers with good speed and turn them into Defensive ends. It is what they do. They base their defense on speed and recruit speed with size and then turn them into what they need them to be.

You're right, I shouldn't have said that about Barnett. I'll go back and edit my post. Thanks for reminding me about it. Barnett deserved to be 1st Team All-State in 2003. I'm glad he got his life straight. Didn't he end up at Texas State?

I said nothing about enjoying Henry being hurt. I hope he does well in college. That's why I mentioned Barnett in my post. Yes, he's a great talent. He single-handedly beat Judson in 2003. He didn't do too good in 2004 against the Rockets, but that was a complete uphill battle. I don't know what he was capable of this year because he wasn't ever tested in a tough game and got hurt against San Marcos. I don't think they would've beaten Madison that night with Henry, but it would've been closer.

I'm sorry if you thought I was trying to make light of Henry in this thread. He'll make a good safety in college and played the position well in high school.

OK, now I see why you said that. I had a friend guarantee me back in 2003 that Clemens was going to win a state title in the next 2 years. He was helping with the Sophomores and said they had great talent. That's why I made the first comment. It was sarcasm based upon his statement. It had nothing to do with James Henry's individual talent.

Barnett is at Arizona. He started 3 or 4 games last year at the end of the season and this year as well as a true Sophomore. He is a stud, and I sure hope he's got it all straight because he could have thrown away more than the college scene. He's got the God given talent to make millions on the field!

It was Old Milwaukee and they showed a guy fishing in the Guadalupe River. They also had 'em for Grand Teton and the Snake River and I don't even drink.

I still say the best was when John Madden would bust through that paper for the Miller Lite commercials.

Do any of you guys remember that Miller vs. Schlitz taste test during the 1980 AFC playoffs? Miller was gaining market share and Schlitz set up a "Blind" taste test for which beer tasted better. Schlitz won every week!:D They gave each person a lever to pull to the right or left and had a nice LED readout that would say Schlitz 58% Miller 42%. I was watching that crap as a 9 year old kid!:p
