In the interests of fairness, here is my list of this season’s over-achievers. 10 teams who were not forecasted to be the ‘movers’ and ‘shakers’, but perhaps did the unexpected. Again ranked in greatness of the over-achievement. If I have missed someone, make your suggestion.

). Plano – Incredible turn around from 2 years ago were not expected to go 10-0 in the regular season. Went deep in the playoffs and took Southlake to the 4th quarter, before losing.

). Judson – even Lonny had them turning their equipment at 4-4. Great turn around in to take 3rd in district, make the play-offs, then beat Spring Westfield to go to the State championship game.

). Cy Falls – 6-4 regular season turned into a great season; as Cy Falls Won 3 play-off games only to lose to Katy by 4 points.

). South Garland – 3rd placed in district with a 6-4 record, as they beat Longview in the first round of the play-offs and lost only to Lufkin, after beating Lake Highlands.

). El Paso Franklin – one of the longest runs in the play-offs in recent years by an El Paso team. Great come back win over Summit. Lost to the State Champions.

). A&M Consolidated – 8-2 regular season, finished 2nd to Cove and went deep in the playoffs beating Woodlands and Pflugerville; also lost to the State Champions.

). Lubbock Monterey – A real Jekyll and Hyde team went 5-5 in the regular season. Lost to Permian, but beat Midland High. Ran Abilene close to 7 points in the playoffs.

). Fossil Ridge – Not expected to make the playoffs. Beat Denton Ryan to make it into the play-offs and did make a game of it against the State Champions Euless Trinity

). Richardson Berkner – Unexpected 10-0 season lost to A&M Consolidated in the play-offs.

). Laredo United – Laredo teams do not normally go deep in the play-offs, but United won 2 play-off games only to lose to Smithson Valley.
