This katy team may not be quite as physical but they will show up and play hard. I love how everyone from slc loves to say how bad the 03 dragons were but back then they were talkin like this team could walk on water.

Now, I begged to differ, so I guess the only way to solve this problem in a Democratic nation (Texas), is to vote...

I don't think it was a fluke, but I don't think we got "physically dominated" and had it "shoved down out throats". That makes it sound like it was a blowout or at least higher scored on Katy's side.

I, like many others on this board, was there...and nobody shoved anything down the others throat..it was a hard fought game that was decided in the final minute..It clearly could have gone either way.....Both teams laid it all out.....Carroll had no excuses, Katy won..end of story..

obviously the 03 game has no real effect on saturdays game, but mentally who do you think it gives the edge to? do you think the confidence it gives katy is more valuable than the urge to make right it gives SLC, or vice versa?

Coming from someone who was on the Katy side on that fine day two years ago, I can honestly say that SLC was not "dominated physically" and nothing was shoved down anyone's throat, except for the fans eating subpar, $3.50 hot dogs.

And the guy who said Katy winning was a fluke is just as much of fool. Sorry buddy, but that was a solid win. Saying otherwise just makes you look like a sore loser.

But once you cut through all the crap, you realize that if either of these cats had any class, this thread wouldn't even exist.

I really don't know how much effect it will really have..but I do know this...every Carroll player knows who the only 5-A team to ever beat Carroll is....

I dunno, I personally think that the SLC "revenge" factor is more valuable, simply because if Katy doesn't come into this game bringing it all, I think they'll be in trouble. Cause I guarantee that we're gonna throw it all into this one game.

If Katy wins, there'll be no chance that it was a "fluke", as some might say.
If SLC wins, it doesn't take away from Katy, but it sort of proves that we've identified our weakness and adjusted to cover for it. The strong running game with a pass option is like SLC's achilles heel.

Agree on this, both teams will be ready to let it out on Saturday. Guarantee we will see a great game with two talented and well coached teams. Now this, I really plan on heading south on IH-45 with another W and SLC heading back towards Grapevine hoping for a win next year.

Controlling the clock wasn't what did it necessarily, because Katy penetrated three times without scoring in that game. Two of those three were on a couple of the Tigers' longest drives!

Hardly anyone in the state can play as flawlessly/efficiently as Carroll, and Katy outplayed them in that area in 2003. The Tigers had no turnovers and no blocked kicks in addition to making more big plays. Controlling the clock is important because that disrupts rythm, however, the Dragons adjusted to that with Daniel-Luna taking control late 3rd/early-mid 4th. Time of possession is hugely overrated if you don't get points in the end.

Actually, Katy outgained Carroll 389 to 309 and had 2 17 play drives which ended in 0 points. Also, that "chip shot" was from 45 yards out.

When running a website like this, it is our responsibility to be objective and look at the facts when making picks. In this case, it would be very difficult to go against Carroll, based on the facts. That is not to say that Katy can't/won't win...the beauty of it all is that the game is decided on the field and it will be decided by many different unquantifiable factors that are impossible to evaluate accurately.

We picked Carroll as our #1 team in the preseason and they've done absolutely nothing to change our initial opinion of them...they are truly deserving of all of the accolades they are receiving.

At the same time, I know that Katy is good enough to win...as I did last time. It should be one hell of a game...again.

I think you underestimated the ball control factor. Clock control is the best weapon against an explosive offense like SLC. They're going to score. The fewer the chances the better. I wouldn't characterize the game as a domination, but Katy did put themselves in position to score more often than SLC. A quesionable decision by the QB to cut in or run to the pylon, and a fieldgoal fiasco kept a possible 10 more points off the board. Katy was able to overcome those mistakes and control the tempo. Dominate, no...outplay, I think so.
