Who's going to be The Woodlands QB for this next year?
I hear it's a battle between Jordan and Eckel.
Will they be splitting time during the season a la Poarch and Parsons?
I personally think it should be neither and be looking at an underclassman.
If Handy was there, this would be the year Handy could take the reigns of the QB position and they could be set in the backfield for a couple years.
I hear the freshman QB Miles has a pretty good arm and had a good season last year on the freshman team. Woodyard is pretty good too but the coaches seem to love on Miles.

I thought Poarch split time with Eckenrode last year, although Eckenrode saw most of the PT.
I think it was Austin Hutson who Bret Parsons split time with in 2005. Although Parsons became the full time starter most of that year and all of 2006.
Are you talking about Michael Handy from Oak Ridge? Is he a QB? I could be wrong but I think Handy being the starting QB at The Woodlands would have been very unlikely even if he did enrol there. Pure speculation on my part of course.

It will most likely be Jordan, Eckel splitting time. This is only if Handy stays at Oak Ridge, or wherever he is. And of course when the Woodlands takes on Katy, it is always exciting, I will be there.

....Welcome to Katy! Have a rice day!
Should be a difficult game again for the Tigers, if the Woodz can put points up early it could be another sad drive home for Katy fans...just shorter. Katy will definitely be ready, I saw that this game has already been circled and bolded in the field house:eek::p

Katy has the tools and kids coming back to be scary good, but I disagree with all these people that it's gonna be a cakewalk for us. We've got basically the same schedule as last year with exception of the Cy Bay game and everyone agrees that it was one of the toughest schedules if not THE TOUGHEST schedule in the state. Remember that Katy plays The Woodlands in game 2, so that's not a lot of time to get things together. I believe Katy will get the details sorted out a lot quicker this year and be rolling early, but then they will need the intensity and focus to maintain them through week sixteen. Just because we return practically the entire team and we've gone back to back doesn't mean we're going to coast this year.

Yep...out of the gate Katy has:
North Shore...always a test...the streak and Tracy Woods
The Woodlands.....Lasco....Another tough one
FM Marcus in Waco.....another tought team with a great RB
None of those games will be cakewalks.
The West Brook game should be;)
Then I'm pretty sure whoever replaces Cy-bay will be very good also.
Nothing will be handed to Katy.....they have to go out and make it happen.

I can't wait for this game either, Theres not many teams that I don't like but woodlands you are one, not because you beat us so bad but because while you were ahead by 47 points you had the class to scream "OVER-RATED..OVER-RATED.."...you had a great team I'm not trying to take that away from those youngmen.. I hope to silently return the favor this year..;)

I went to the Woodlands/Conroe game and when Conroe had the ball, The Woodz fan would yell "Let's go KATY!!!"(tiger reference)...and after a big play a lady on the Conroe said said "You're not playing Katy, baby"...at THAT time things were so bad that being compared to Katy was a huge insult...lol:D
It will be a good game...can't wait.

I hated that chant but it was true at the time since I believe Katy was way over ranked at the beginning of the year. It was the student section yelling that. I hope Katy puts a beating on the Woodz but I hope our student section shows more class than last year's Woodz students.

Guess that Woodlands Katy game thread started early this year.
Woodlands fans are in hibernation right now. They may post on this thing after the spring game. Katy fans are itching for payback, it would seem.
Any predictions on the score? God there aint crap here in Waco :laugh

So how is Conroe? Oakridge? Try to morph the thread back to the Woodz in a roundabout way.

One thing is for sure about Woodlands 2009 and that is that they won't be near as good as they were last year. With less talent in 2009 and the same sorry head caoch, it makes sense that they can't be as good.

Conroe graduated a bunch of good players. Oak Ridge should be better than last year. They gave Klein Oak all they could handle in the playoffs.

No way Katy blows them out that early in the season. Breaking in a first-year QB, Katy's certainly not guaranteed a win anyway.

Two years ago, Coach Joseph ran the score up on The Woodlands and did not pull his starters until 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter. I think the score was 47 - 7. Whatever he got last year was deserved. The Woodlands does not have the starters back that Katy does, but I would not count the Highlanders out. Lasco, Lindsay, Sibel, Bouthilet & Clapsaddle return along with a huge list of kids that played second team last year and saw a ton of playing time. It should be a great game in Katy this year.

This so bogus it is not even worth my finger tapping, but I am not willing to let someone who knows nothing about that game try and make Katy look like the bad guy!! The starters were pulled at the beginning of the 4th qtr, true some starters did play after that, but mostly on defense. The score was 45-7. As far as getting what they deserved...ok, if you can't stop a team from scoring, that is what you deserve. Kinda like the Woodz in '07:cool:

I agree totally, and I personally feel this will be a tougher game than some of the others. Not because the Woodz has some returners, but becasue of the offense they run. It is much easier for a spread team to get into a rythm earlier than a run based team. NS, FMM, BWB are all run first teams and really don't throw it much early. They will be doing what Katy will be doing, trying to hone the O-line.

The toughest game between these two I believe was in '05 up in the Highlander House. The final score was 10-6 or 7-3 Katy and was one the hardest hitting games I've seen.

TWHS will have plenty of talent in 09. Never been their problem. What they need to do is execute better on game day and be able to put together time consuming drives when they need to.
On the Katy game. Tigers will probably win at home. But I just do not see a blowout and it won't surprise me to see The Woodlands squeeze out a win. All this talk about blowing them out - Probably firing them up.

All you guys making predictions remind me of Johnny Carson with that BIG hat and cape, sitting there guessing the answers to the questions. These will be two very different teams come September from what we saw in '08. Both teams return some talent. Katy will have the better end of the deal here, but all Katy has at this point is potential. Aside from the '07 team, Katy usually takes 3-5 games just to get warmed up. DB86 is right in that the spread teams will be develope faster and are usually better in the early games, so this could be a dogfight.

Yes the only Katy teams that have started quick was years were teams with 2nd year QB. Like Kaspar, in 00' and Mitchelle in 07'. The exception is Dalton in 05' But in my opinion he was the most gifted of all the Katy QB's and had Mike Fuda.
This year Will start slow on offense like we usually do. It wont be until around week 8 until we start to hit stride. But this years defense in my opinion has so much experience it will allow the offense as many chances as they need.

yes -- it is CISD policy --- please remember -- it is NOT the stadium workers decision -- they are following direct orders from the administration --right or wrong -- they also confiscate tobacco , pocket knives , food , etc

I remember last year my seven year old wasn't finished with his Whataburger and tried to sneak it in. It was so funny because he's a good kid and when good kids do something wrong, it is very obvious. Anyway he looked so ridiculous trying to hide it that the guy at the gate just laughed at him and let him in with it anyway.
