Whats funny about that?....Texas doesn't get Oklahoma players because Texas doesn't need Oklahoma players...Hell, even Oklahome doesn't get the percentage of Oklahoma players that they do Texas players...Its not rocket science that Texas produces more statewide talent than UT can have..it would be the same if OU was in Austin...in that scenario they wouldn't be able to keep all the players that the state produces...hell, thats a sheer numbers game there...not real sure what your point is with that. Now, we obviously know that OU couldn't win without Texas kids..or moreover with there own in state kids...But we know that Texas doesn't need kids from Oklahoma in order to win.
And all that still sits as intriguing to me that Texas stands the chance to go into Oklahoma and pulling one of the better kids from that state to Texas, and the same with us standing the chance of going to Ohio and pulling one of there better players as well.

Carrington Byndom will be a player. He obviously needs to put on 20 pounds, but he will be as fast as anyone on team.
Great tackler, very smart - not a tremendous ball hawk, but he'll get his picks too.

No just facts. Considering stoops has won 5 conference championships, had a 3 way tie for another and has the same amount of BCS national championships as Mack and co. and less overall BCS wins, yeah i would say it means little to nothing.
Im surprised stoops hasnt lobbied for the big 12 tie breaker to be who has the most big 12 championships since the big 12 was opened.
But back to the thread, this was a nice pickup for the horns. Especially when you consider the luck that UT has had with the Lufkin pipeline. As a matter of fact, who was the last Lufkin player to play for the Horns? Just curious. Because i find it almost laughable that a team that continues to have as much success as Lufkin doesnt produce more UT talent over the years.

Jesus Christ leave it to Texas fans to go ape **** at the questioning of their program. Can't even have fun with them.
But yes lets let facts get inthe way. Championships is ultimately what programs are judged on. Texas can't even sniff OU's jock when it comes to Championshisp. You can try and spin the tie breaker this past year all you want but its just that, garbage. You didn't win the Big 12 Championship. OU did. You can't claim to be Big 12 Champs in 2008 because you weren't. You can claim 2 total Big 12 titles while OU can claim 6. You can claim 2 outright MNC's, 1 shared one and 1 BCS title while OU claims more than that.
Of course I am sure you will try to spin that someway to your favor.
All hail the mighty Whiney.
It also cracks me up now to hear Texas talk about having more BCS wins than OU yet OU gets to BCS games on a more consistent basis and has played the much tougher teams.
We're Texas where winning Championshisps is irrelevant because we say so :notworthy

Any chance cheating has had anything to do with any of those championships that OU has?

Or this has everything to do with UT is not near the program that OU is but the only way they can justify being behind them in regards to championships is by bringing up the cheating factor.

What has Big Red done to contribut to an OU championship? As far as I'm aware the guys they were employing were kicked off the team and OU was better off without them.

Kind of a dumb point. The point is that by paying players, you are providing better players an incentive to go to school there other than the academics and playing experience.
The reason it is a rule is because it increases that school's chances of winning.

The point was made and its a good one. Barry Bonds has cheated and everyone in the world knows this..Now, it has never been proved, but no one denies that he cheated. So which one of his home runs will they take from him? Which one of his MVP awards will he be stripped of? Which one of his Gold Glove awards will he return?...The answer is nada zip zero.
Which one of the Yankee's World Series titles will they strip?...I mean after all Andy Pettitte has admitted cheating...Rodger Clemens is known to have used steroids, which means he cheated....Which one of his Cy Young awards will he be stripped of?..Again, the answer is nada zip zero.
How bout A-Roid...He has admitted to cheating...Will he have to return the '03 MVP award?..How bout the '01, '02 or '03 Silver Slugger awards?...How bout the '01, '02 or '03 Hank Aaron awards?...Hank Freakin Aaron!!! The answer...ha yea...you already know the answer to that as well.
They all cheated..some proved, some not...some admitted, some didn't...Everyone in the world knows they all cheated....But they will not be stripped of ANY of those awards or titles...Guess f:Censor:kin what?...doesn't mean they didn't cheat to get them.
I support a football team and football program that does not cheat...I cant say the same for our baseball program, but the difference is I'm not on here trying to defend them nor compare what they've accomplished to the OU baseball team. These to me are seperate entities, just as I'm not comparing issues with the OU basketball program to our basketball program.
I could go on about total records and head to head results and Big 12 and pre Big 12 and conference titles and total MNC's and BCS MNC's and records in BCS games and records in bowl games and records against top 25 opponents and Mack vs bobert and Macks overall record vs boberts overall record and blah blah blah...But I know this, the Texas Longhorns have won the same amount of BCS MNC's as has OU and have a total of 4 MNC's and didn't cheat to get them. OU, like Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, A-Roid, Mark McGuire and many others cant say the same. I'd rather have less money then you...as long as I know I earned mine the right way.

I'll take UTSA, and play by the same rules except I can pay players whatever I want. Give me T. Boone Pickens money and four years.
Which team is favored?
and since schools don't offer t. boone pickens money....well there goes your point. ;)
oh and attracting better recruits doesn't always equate to success on the football field. you and your fellow texass fans should know a little something about that. ;)
apples to oranges with the bonds thing...getting paid does not increase the chances of winning....getting paid is simply an outright breaking of the rules. a violation.
Sure it does...It must mean the school doing the paying thinks they need to pay in order to get that recruit to come there...and they dont pay scrubs..they pay the top players...if they didnt pay them, they would play else where, which seems to lower that teams chances of winning games without that player.

Yep-should there be an asterik without having played in a Bowl game? I don't know. Well before my time.
fair enough on Augie. (firing him)
He just plead guilty, where was the law school help there. Ramonce served time.
Ced had very little history until after he left school, most of what you listed happened after he left school.
Also, none of those, let's call them indiscretions, were NCAA infractions as far as I can tell.
They actually did play in the 76 Orange Bowl where they beat Michigan. Once again, those are all recogonized National Championships to go along with conference championships. Something tells me if cheating had been involved and proven that those championships would have been stripped.
Did Ced not break and force his way into an apartment that was not his?
Did Cen not get charged with possession and an MIP?
Did Brock Edwards not bash a kid 120lbs smaller than him face in?
Did Tim Moss not assult his GF or somebody else outside of an apartment complex and then hid from the cops in teh back seat of a car?
Interesting how those can all be defended but we're quick to turn on Boz and the gun incident.
All the instances above happend while guys were also wearing the burnt orange. How many arrest are we ujp to in Austin over the last 4-5 years?
Once again, where is the NCAA infraction for having guns in the Dorm Room?
and since schools don't offer t. boone pickens money....well there goes your point. ;)

Here is where your logic is wrong.
Texas has been accused of cheating and handing out money and cars to athletes to either drive or resell for themselves. They were put on probation for this too in the 80's. With your logic, we know they cheated then, how do we know they were not cheating back in 63? or 69? or 70? or 05?
You would have an argument saying you support a program who does not cheat if that were the case but it is not hte case. You support a program that has also been caught cheating and for that reason alone, we must suspect that they were doing so before and have done so since.

What do legal troubles have to do with cheating?
To me legal troubles are involving actions by the kids.
Cheating involves actions by the schools.

Did Ced not break and force his way into an apartment that was not his?-yes
Did Cen not get charged with possession and an MIP? which were dropped
Did Brock Edwards not bash a kid 120lbs smaller than him face in?-wasn't there don't knwo the specifics
Did Tim Moss not assult his GF or somebody else outside of an apartment complex and then hid from the cops in teh back seat of a car?-sounds about right

Cheating is cheating and you and the rest of the whorn nation are quick to jump on everybody else. I also believe that the latest invloving Big Red Imports had been dropped against OU too, but you guys can't seem to let that go now can ya?

Leave it to Whiney Whorn fan to bring up Aggy in this conversation.
I simply comment when I see jealous Texas fan who supports a school who claims more victory in its rivals loses than it does its own wins. Thats all Texas fan does. Thats all Texas fan is good for. Texas fan jealousy of the greatness that is OU and the many more championships and crystal balls they have over Texas is the best form of humor there is. Texas also has a proven track record of cheating and racism dating back to the Darrell Royal days.

Again...All 4 of Texas's titles have never been in question, the same cannot be said of those belonging to OU. And it completely wrong to say that they are better than a team if the record vs that team says different..unless that record is wrong, which by all sites it appears it is not.

Well there is 1970, you still want to claim that one?
The year you got your *** kicked in the Cotton Bowl?
I'm still failing to see what NC is in question? The AP and Coaches poll could have gone back and stripped OU of those titles or the NCAA stripped OU of those wins or the Big 8 stripped them of those conference titles had those seasons been in question. Right?
They are a better program and have accomplished more than Texas.
41 conference titles
7 national titles.
6 Big 12 titles
7 Big 12 south titles
Compared to
Maybe 30 conference titles
3 outright NC's, a split 4th
2 Big 12 titles
4 Big 12 South titles
I'll take the top choice every time and just to show I'm not as much of a hater or jealous person as you are now thinking, I'd take Texas track record over Georgias every day of the week too. Now, that wasn't so hard admitting a school or program I do not like being better than one I really love.

I have heard many stories about DKR and racism. Here is a paragraph from an article about DKR back in 96,
It's funny how he was behind the curve on integrating black players. SMU, Rice, UH, Baylor, OU and others had done it years before. His comment about hiring black coaches is what could be seen as interesting.
But clearly, getting blacks on the teams was not a priority for Royal, or at least that's what he told a reporter for Harper's magazine in November of 1970. The Harper's reporter asked Royal: "Is it important to you that you have Negro players on the team?" Royal replied, "No." He told the story, "A bunch of Negro boys came to me a while ago and said I could solve all possible difficulties by hiring a black coach. Now that would be fine for them but I've got to look at the other side. I'd have a lot of white boys on the team coming to me saying they couldn't play for a black coach. The family atmosphere of the team would be destroyed... Once the club harmony and spirit begin to deteriorate, I don't care what kind of talent you have, you won't win." (Royal finally hired a black coach in 1971. UT still has not had a black head coach in any sport.)

I'll go through the list tomorrow when I have more time, but I believe it actually happened more than you think..Keeping in mind the AP awarded titles staring in 1936 and dint change there format until 1967 or 1968 I believe. I know it happened with Alabama in 1964 and oddly enough they lost to Texas and Arkansas was unbeaten after beating Nebraska, yet Bama was the champ based on how the title was done. I think around 1974 the UPI/coaches poll started waiting till after the bowl game to award their champion. And I'm not justifying what was in place in order for UT to claim that title.

I believe the difference between what Mack did and bobert was Mack took care of it almost immediately and bobert waited till the NCAA finished their investigation, as if he didnt already know they were gulity as hell...and i think the school knew what was going on at that dealership too.
I dont think that story is saying he was a racist, I think its just saying that he was a little late to the party.

I thought Bobert and OU did that investigation on their own. Once it was made aware that Bomar and others were involved then Stoops klicked them off and informed the NCAA to come in and preform their own investigation. I doubt Bob knew unless they have their own "keep it in the family" program in Norman that I'm not aware of.
As for DKR, a little late to the party = racist. Why not step up to the plate and do it earlier? Why wait almost 10 years after integration? There are stories out there that will say both. I just base it off actions and his actions were not very good in the race relation department.
