1st off....SLC beat us today...my hat's off to you guys
2nd...all the Dragon fans that made it all the way out to SFA today...thank you for being a true dragon fan and attending the game.
But...after hearing all the chatter on the board all week about SFA not being able to hold the Dragon Nation....I was expecting an overflow on your side...what a joke (DFF and others)...you may have brought 3-4k (thats it and dont say anymore)...what happened to "We can bring 15k+ fans anywhere"....very dissapointed that i wasted my time w/ posters be-otching all week about the "stadium is too small".
Granted, SLC put it to us on Saturday, cant deny this, but from Saturdays actions, i have come to the conclusion that the Dragon Nation stays in Dallas and thats it...no traveling abilities (i could be wrong, but Saturday's turnout was pitiful)
In conclusion...your players and coaches outplayed us in the second half and pulled away (deservingly so)...but next time you guys start be-otching about the "stadium is too small" issues...from first hand experience, you guys dont have a argument to stand on.

I talked to many people that usually go to the games and they were telling me that they just did not want to make the drive out there and not get a seat. I understand how you must feel after talking about 33 pages about and then not having what you thought would happen. I never said that Carroll would bring 15k. I did say, however that Carroll couldbring 15k.
Again the new information that was brought to my attention the day before the game changed my position completely and even said that Outlaw had no choice, but to pick the stadium that he did.

1 Ticket to the Game =$10
20 Gallons of gas to drive to Nacogdoches = $40
Breakfast on the way = $20
Lunch in Nacogdoches = $25
Being at Homer Bryce Stadium chosen by Coach Outlaw and beating Lufkin for the 3rd in the time = Priceless.
The 4 hours driving in each direction was worth every minute to see this game.

I understand your point of view on this, but SLC had 7,500 tickets +1,500 more (if needed) that you could buy at SLC ISD. The excuse of what your saying does not hold weight. SLC had 3k (give or take 500)....meaning they didnt even buy guaranteed seats from their own school district.
That's all I'm saying on this...just wanted to point it out b/c of all the be-otching and moaning I heard from some posters last week.

I was there too on Saturday...it was a great environment...simply stated...slc BEAT lufkin in their backyard...I live here in Lewisville. Drove down Friday and came back right after the game. I am not taking anything away from SLC (the deserved #1 ranking in the nation). They limited mistakes and capitalized on LP's mistakes)....other note...the only ball thrown that was somewhat miffed was Tre' Newton's screen pass in the 2nd qtr on 3rd down....other than that...the WR's for slc caught everything in sight (fingertips and all)...very impressed...
Anyways...if you were at the game, you cant deny the atmosphere...simply electric...been to all 3 games between the 2 and I truly believe that this one had the most electricity...fun game (for me until mid 3rd)....congrats to SLC and good luck next weekend.

The tickets did not go on sale until Wednesday morning. Tickets were not on sale at SLC ISD on Wednesday afternoon after 1:00 or Thursday all day because we had no school. So people only had Friday until 3:00 to get tickets...

As I said last week. The stadium of choice by Coach Outlaw – “is what it is”. There was nothing wrong with the choice of Homer Bryce stadium for Lufkin’s home site. I had great seat, with lots of room around me. I was able to park ok. The field itself was perfect for a high school football game. I think there was a lot of unnecessary 'noise' from some SLC fans. I made the trip and enjoyed very minute - even the drive there and back. I think what you saw on the Southlake side were the true and dedicated high school football fans.

i agree completely... I respect everyone from SLC that made it down to SFA on Saturday...and you're right, they are the true fans...I think I was expecting more (as in volume of fans) to show up...just b/c of the noise talked in endless pages of thread last week...I hope everyone enjoyed the site (granted, i was in the same boat as you guys--driving there and back to dallas)....SFA is a little more cozy and energetic...1st half--both sides of fans were going back and forth...I just hope that SLC had as much fun as I did b/c of the high school atmosphere.
==last week i think i took it a little personal that SOME posters were implying that Outlaw was selfish and SFA was too good for some.

I to was dissappointed in the so called SLC fans no show, but more than that I was very dissappointed in the Panther fans who left early. As a true panther fan I am there to support my team WIN OR LOSE. I never ever leave until the school song is sung, Thanks to all the ones who stayed to the ugly end and shame on the ones who didn't. Attendance at this game was affected by many factors. The pre-game discussion of "limited seating" was part of this. Many in the know said fans would have to be there early to get a seat. Many said they didn't want to drive 4 hours, sit for another 4 hours until game time, sit 3 more hours during the game, then drive back to SL another 4 hours. Basically, 14 hours and maybe not get a seat? Also, the SLC faithful was very confident that there would be another game next week. By the way, Lufkin had many more fans than SLC in the first half, however, by the end of the 3rd qtr, SLC had more fans than Lufkin. I wasn't happy to see the empty SLC seats in the first half, but I was thrilled to see the empty Lufkin seats in the 3rd qtr. I guess when the opponent scores 20 unanswered points, dedication begins to wane. Good luck to Lufkin next year. You have an excellent team, probably the second best in the state of Texas.

We have attended 12 out of the 15 dragon games this year...and opted not to make the drive to SFA for a number of reasons (and in speaking with many SL fans they say the same):
Ice Storm in D/FW, the long drive, and holiday activities/ chores are the reasons many didn't make the trip.
The ice storm kept our kidos at home an extra 1-1/2 days this week...limiting the time we had during the week to get our holiday chores done. (only two more weeks till Santa) With playoffs coming around holiday season...it is really tough to get everything done. We were pretty confident that SL would take care of business, and we needed to get everything caught up so we could be prepared to travel next week for the Championship game. (Didn't know we would get so lucky again with Tx Stadium) Also football isn't our world....many of my friends had kids participating in other activities that didn't allow for them to make such a long drive.
We listened and cheered on the Dragons from the radio broadcast while we decorated the tree. We would have loved to gone to the game....the logistics just didn't work for us this time. :D

If you'd been there for the first half, you might not have been so confident we would take care of business..Lufkin was bringing it! But I understand what your saying..I heard it from a lot of people. We left at 7:30, got there at 11 (3 hours before gametime) to get a good seat & got home at 9..but, I would'nt have missed it.

"I was thrilled to see the empty Lufkin seats in the 3rd quarter." I don't understand why you said that. What purpose did it serve?

Yea...SLC fans didn't show. I sure hope SLC's program does not ever decline. SLC defintely pulled away in the second half(you have to make adjustments @ halftime, Outlaw). I was really excited about seeing how SLC ran the no huddle so efficiently. But it turns out that the refs:confused: did not start the play clock until the QB had talk to the coach for about five seconds. Not saying the refs were biased, but it was clearly obvious that he was slowing the game down when SLC's offense was on the field. The dragons have a great team, best of luck at state.

that wouldn't make a difference, if people were planning to go they would've go their tickets friday, or planned on getting them at the gate. it was just a poor turnout by the dragon faithful. they dont like to travel like they used to...

I'm assuming this post is a joke. They let the fences down and the overflow Lufkin crowd moved over to the partially empty SLC side - which was 25% vacant prior to this - duh!

the drive wasnt that bad really, granted i wasnt driving but still..
i know the band parents rented their own shuttle bus, there was a couple other SLC shuttle buses..
and o nthe shutte bus you listen to music, watch movies, play cards, or just talk with your friends, so itsn ot like your doing nothing, and plus you get to watch a good game..i got to the school at about 645ish, the band left at 745ish, we then got there at 1115-1130ish i belive, ate got in the stnads and what not an hour to an hour an a half before the game started, after the game, we ate again, then loaded up and left, got back to CHS at about 945ish rougly, i got home at 1015( i went to wendy's after the game though), so it wasnt that bad
