Reggie is a class act and a bad *** football player...congrats to him.
I was shocked by the margin, however. Vince is the clear leader two weeks ago and then becomes the most distant 2nd place finisher in the history of the award? Bizarre.

I knew all along that Bush was going to win over Young and Leinart, and why not? This kid can flat out fly and if you let him go he'll be gone at any second at any play. I think there is no doubt in my mind that this is the best running back that I've seen in college football.

I am happy for Bush, but I felt the award should have gone to either Leinart or Young. As a Texas homer I some times lead toward Young, but I feel that Leinart was the best player on USC this year and Young was the best player on Texas. It is really a shame that both of these two guys had their worst games, which were only one each, on the second to last and last week of the season. Bush had three or four games where he dissapeared, but they were early in the season and were not counted against them as much as for the two quarterbacks.

ill take texas by double digits, we will see how bush compares against a defense ranked higher than 47th nationally...something like 6th

Vince Young losing the Heisman will get him and his team the extra motivation they need to get pumped up for the big championship game.

I hope he does. I have a few numbers
1. Number of heisman trophies Bush has(RT has 0)
1.The string that Bush is at RB on his team(RT 2nd)
Im sure RT is better tho:cool:

Well BWJ, you can join the other spin-meisters on this board, but the game will be played on the field. I'd say that you shouldn't spend too much time crowing because you might have to eat some of it. You UT supporters continue to talk trash, and if you win the game, so be it. But, why don't you just shut up and let the game take care of itself. Your gas won't change the eventual outcome. (Now, this is the time when you usually throw out a bunch of stats.)

Reggie Bush deserved the Heisman more than Matt Leinart. Matt's definately a great QB, but I tend to think that USC could've found a suitable replacement for him and still have the same record. Reggie, on the other hand, would be almost impossible to replace.
All that being said, I still think VY deserved the Heisman. No one meant more to their team than he did and like you said he only had one bad game the entire season. Oh well, hears to hoping this will get the team fired up for the Rose Bowl.

Clown? Writing stupid stuff? What did i write stupid? That Bush it better then RT. Yeaaaa, thats real stupid. Reggie Bush is only the most electricfing player in college football in the last 10 years. But yea, a back up is better then him.
You call me a clown for saying the heisman winner is better then a back up? Sounds like your the stupid one. *****, your so stupid, your just defending RT because he plays of your favorite team.
Why cant people on this bored just keep it to sports, always jackasses like texasfrog who try and make it personal.

Bush averages 8.9 ypc.
Give credit where credit is due. We all know about Bush, but RT gains over 12.6 yards every time he touches the ball... Bush averages 10 yards. RT averages a TD every 7.9 times he touches the ball... Bush averages a TD every 14.5 times he touches the ball. All of that, and RT doesn’t even get to return punts like Bush does. Bush is electrifying and deserving of the Heisman, but RT makes more out of his touches than maybe anybody in college football.

Have you ever seen bush play? If you have i really dont see any quetion who the best player in college football is. Hes so electric. Do you think RT could step in Reggies shoes and be totally gameplaned around? When Reggie Bush steps on the field he is the #1 player the Deffense wants to stop. Oh, and who knows how RT will react when he gets a load. Dont you think if he was as good as yall say, Mack would put the ball in his hands 20 times a game? I think so...But maybe yall know something Mack doesnt.

Bush is not the #1 guy defenses want to stop and he's not the focus of every DC. He's one of several threats that are game planned for and, much like Texas, that is what makes USC so dangerous. Defenses don't come in saying "we have to shut down Bush to win." They need to limit Bush AND Leinart AND Jarrett, etc. USC has proven over the past couple of years that they can win without a solid contribution from Bush because others step up. It's the same thing for Texas. Defenses don't come in saying "We have to shut down Vince to win" (though most fans say that) because Texas has proven over the years that they can win with out stellar production from vince. Defenses know that if they focus all their energy on Vince, then Jamaal or RT will tear them to shreds. Bush is just one of many playmakers.

USC can win with limited production from bush, i agree. BUT he is still the #1 focus of the defense.
I do disagree about young tho. In order for UT to beat a GREAT opponet VY has to have a solid day.

Here's the problem I have with Bush winning the Heisman. Bush is a part-time player. He splits time with another guy. He isn't out for all the offensive plays. Now, while I readily agree with any comments about his talent and overall ability, no one should win the Heisman who isn't a full time player. It would be similar to either Julius Jones or Marion Barber III winning the league MVP (assuming one of them had the numbers) while platooning at tailback. It just wouldn't happen, the tradtionalists wouldn't allow it and I'm surprised Bush won, inspite of his obvious talent, as a part-time player.
Yes, Vince Young makes more mistakes, but he touches the ball EVERY play.

I think you know what I mean. He touches the ball every play.....until he is taken out of the game because his team is winning 52-0, or something like that. Come on, man, don't be like that.
Bush is out of the line-up by design. If he is so great, why not a full time player, like all the other greats?
Young touches the ball every play, until the score gets too big, anyway.

So I guess, using your logic, Lindale White is a Heisman candidate also, if not, why is he getting half the touches? If Bush is so great, why is Lindale getting half the touches and Bush is a part-timer? You can't have it both ways dude.

Bush has the luxury of being taken out of the game a lot when a situation doesn’t fit his style or ability (goal line or short yardage) in favor of a guy who does fit that style (White). Guys like Young, Leinart, Quinn, etc., don't have the luxury of only playing downs that suit their style of play. They are full-time starters with the first team offense. Bush isn’t even a full-time starter at his own position.

And you think Bush fits in that category? What do all those fellas have in common that Bush doesn't? They're Qb's except one and here is his rookie stats:
1995

I personally think that Reggie deserved the Heisman. However, I also think VY deserved it as well. It was a tough decision and voters went with the guy who was hot late. Can't really fault them for that. Personally, I would've voted for Vince. Of course, that could be my UT bias talking.
