an asteroid called TU24 missed the earth, but was still some what threatening at the time of the incident since little was known. But had it collided with our planet, well we'd be meeting Jesus in groups.

It's not a matter of if, but when something like this will eventually happen. And we will probably know nothing about it. I highly doubt the government is going to share info about an extinction level event with the general public until they have to in order to avoid chaos, anarchy and the breakdown of society as we know it.

I am unaware of any small "o" orthodox Christian body that does not adhere to the idea of a Last Judgement at which Christ himself is the judge, which is what I was referring to. Christ himself spells it out fairly clearly in Matthew and it is part of the Creed:
