Well the 1st half was close with SLC up by 6 pts. The start of the second half was another story. as the Lufkin Panthers had a total melt down and great D performed by SLC shut down the panthers and the Pack could not get out of the big hole and will come up short against the SLC dragons. they showed why they are the #1 team in the State of Texas and one of the best in the nation. their coaches came out with a great second half adjustment and they just went to work on the Panthers.
i am so proud of my Panthers they just came up short this time around.Well like to say congratulations to the seniors on a great season and sorry it ended this way. but you made the city proud.
GO PANTHERS LETS KEEP THE TRADITION ALIVE AND WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN PROMISE YALL THAT.
SLC what a heck of a team and it is going to be one Hell of a game against katy.

Congrats to the Panthers on another great season! Of course they will be back..they always are! And next year, this game will have to be played at Texas Stadium (or whichever site the Dragons choose) so we won't have to deal with any dreadful choice-of-stadium threads!

I agree totally!! Congrads SLC, you guys have a great team. I did not expect Lufkin to make it this far with such a young offense, that should be unbelievable next season. Good luck dragons bring home the championship!!!

Congratulations to the SLC football team, coaches, and fans. You beat one hell of a good football team yesterday. It doesn't matter that Lufkin had lost its starting quarterback and a terrific wide receiver, they still had tons of talent on the team and the injuries are not going to be used as an excuse for the loss. Well, not by most Lufkin fans. It's evident that your team was well-prepared and well-coached. You were the better team and you deserved to win.
Losing is never easy, but especially at this point in the season. I was pretty disappointed yesterday, but then I remembered that there were only 4 teams left in our classification still playing. Kind of hard to overlook that. In spite of the fact that we lost, we still have a great team and I am proud of the pack. Once again they have given Lufkin a reason to band together for a common purpose. I am all for anything that brings a community together. It's one of the things that makes life so special, and one of the reasons I am proud to have grown up in a small town.
Good luck to you next week SLC - and I look forward to playing you again.

I'd just like to give mad propz to all those Lufkin fans out there on this board - I have heard nothing but classy remarks from you guys and no excuses for losing. Congratulations on making it this far and you played a great game yeaterday.

Ditto. LP showed up in droves to support their team. LP has a great team. I do not look forward to playing Lufkin. I have seen all 3 games and know how difficult the game will be. This year's game was by the widest margin but those in attendance knew that LP never quit. Congrats on a great team and program. I hope the UIL realignment puts you in Region 3. Hate playing you in the semis, rather it be for state. (Compliment - no trash intended).

Congrats to the PACK on another fine season. Congrats to SLC for their win. Congrats to the Panther posters for their gracious posts about the game with no excuses for the loss. The loss at this point is always a disappointment. You are taking it well. Better luck next season.

it came in 2001 and probably would have come a couple more times had the UIL not moved Carroll up to 5A.

I can pretty much agree with that statement but of course there are other teams that would have something to say about that. SLC is a great team but we Lufkin fans already knew that. They are a machine that is just hard to stop and I don't see Katy doing that this year. I told people in the stands at the beginning of the game that even though I don't like SLC beating my team they are fun to watch. The only thing I was dissapointed in was the fact that after all the complaining about the stadium size the visitors side was not even full. I guess people did not want to make that long drive and were almost certain they would see their team the following week at Texas Stadium. When your team is that good I guess you can't blame them for being so confident. Good Luck on Saturday against Katy. No disrespect to a great Katy team but I do not think your team will need luck to win.

Anyone from Carroll who was overconfident vs. the Pack is nuts! I was nervous till early 4th qtr. You guys have too many playmakers. I think the Dragons are just in a zone where they refuse to lose. We'll find out Saturday! One more to go...hope its a good one.

My congratulations in turn, not onlt to the Lufkin team, but your band and drill team as well. And especially to your fans for showing up in droves. Put the Carroll fans to shame - at least those several thousand who didn't take the time or effort to come out, support the Dragons, see a great game and have a fun afternoon of Texas high school football.

Hey no excuses here. SLC is the better team. With Hewitt at 100 percent or our starting qb Lufkin would have lost. Lufkin could be a dynasty if it was not for the best team in the nation. Thanks!! ;) The backup qb did the best he could do and did a good job. The front 7 was solid, limiting SLC's running game and getting pressure with sack's, and pressuring the qb. The difference was the Lufkin secondary could not hold up vs the great SLC wr's and very accurate qb. That was the biggest difference in my eyes. Jacobson lit us up like a candle. The better team won and that is all there is to it. They are a machine. Katy can beat them but it will take a perfect game of execution and hardly any mistakes just like 2003.

yes, congratulations SLC!
i wanted to cry all the way home (215 miles), but i didn't. i'm proud of our Panthers!!! it was hard not to cry when some of the dragon fans passed me on 21, thank goodness they turned on 69 and headed to tyler. i had to stay on 21 till i got to 7 in crockett. you guys played an awsome game as usual. to me it looked like lufkin didn't play quite the same in the 2nd half as the 1st.

I think Thomas's ankle injury was really bothering him in the 2nd half..he could'nt plant his right foot to throw...

His akle was taped, he still ran the ball. I think it was the pitter-patter of you all's defense in our backfield that bothered him.:)

No DOUBT he was a warrior. Even in the 4th after being sacked, he got up puking and still stayed in the game.
If I was the coach, which this probably why I'm not, I would've used the JV QB and kept Ralph as a reciever so we had some one else to throw to.JMO

Pack0808...
I respect your opinion and wonder what you saw in Saturday's game that makes you think Katy can beat SLC? And yes, I know, any team can be beaten on any day, but I'm curious why you said Katy can beat them.

Because Katy is a power and they have done it before. They have more of a control clock type of team that gives you a better chance at winning vs a explosive team like that. SLC is a machine but they are not invincible. Nobody is!! They came very very close to losing 3 or 4 times in the past 2 years so it is possible. It will take a great team's best to beat them. The biggest difference in the Lufkin game was the off pass interference right before the end of the half called on Dez. Not saying that he did not do it but it is rarely called. If the ref does not throw that flag Lufkin is probably up by 7 instead of being down by 6 at half. The mo completely turned at that point. I am not saying Lufkin would have won if that call would have not been made but it would have been much closer. In other words, you have to play perfect and get the breaks to beat a team like SLC and even if you do you still could lose. They are that good.
