Here is part of an article I was reading a few minutes ago.
Texas Rep. Joe Barton has filed one of at least 3 bills in Congress to force action on the matter of instilling a playoff system instead of the current BCS.

Texas GOP heavyweight teams with Pres. Obama for college football playoff
"Barton's bill would prohibit the promotion, marketing or advertising of any postseason NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision matchup as a championship game unless a playoff system crowns the champion. "Otherwise, it's a false trade practice because it's false and deceitful," Barton said. The congressman is working to get a committee to consider the bill. Meanwhile, he is gathering more co-sponsors for the measure, a way to broaden its support in the House. Barton said he's talked to the president about the issue and that Obama is "enthusiastic." -- Dallas Morning News "
I wish they could have just pork barrelled this into the stimulus package.:D

You'd think congress would have more important things to worry about than trying to implement a college football playoff:rolleyes:.

I agree with most everyone on this about Congress staying out of all professional and collegiate sports...even if it is in my favor or for a good cause.

Im not saying it would be a good idea for them to run the damn thing, but I just wish someone could force the greedy s.o.b.'s to go to a playoff where real championships are won. Its the same old b.u.l.l.s.h.i.t year after year.

Like what?...There going to take my money that I pay to taxes while sitting on their as$es and doing nothing, then they can finally do something with all that money I've paid and force the other faction that takes my money, to do something that actually pleases me.

How completely stupid. The BCS and the conferences are not federal organizations. They have the right to determine a "champion" however they see fit. If they wanted to crown a champion based on who has the best looking uniforms as judged by a panel of NY Fashion gurus, that would be their perogative.
It cannot be false and decietful because everyone, including the public, is well aware of the system and how it works to crown a champion. The games are not rigged and the BCS does not claim that their champion is crowned in any other way than the formula used to select the two representatives followed by the championship game.
I guess this is a great idea if you are for expansive government interference and excessive regulation of private life.

We have given the Government the power to do whatever it wants.
That includes making laws, taxes, and ever regulating sports.
They can change anything at anytime!
Fits right in with the steroid crap from the last year or two...
Oh yeah, a playoff would suck.

Well at least under the current format his Aggys stand the chance of making a bowl game...in a playoff scenario they wouldn't.
