Congratulations to the Trinity Trojans of Euless! You simply overwhelmed the Judson Rockets today. 28 unanswered points was just too much for them. It seems that their fans relied on their tradition to overcome their opponents.

As much as I love the Rockets, I'm glad we both finally got that 52-0 monkey off our backs. Jerrod Dougals and friends looked like they were were headed for a rematch in '93 which probably would have been much more competitive, and you got upended 12-0 by Plano on the same day Aldine Ike darned near did us in with that 27-all tie in the Semi-final round. We've had some other near-misses since then, but today we finally got to meet again with the tables reversed somewhat.

It's been a special season for a town that's been waiting a long time for a state championship. regardless of wether we reach such lofty heights in the future, the moment is sweet and we will appreciate it for what it's worth. Only wish that everyone on this board could feel this good. Best of luck through the rest of the post season to everyone still involved and a great off-season for everyone else including my Trojan fellows

Has Trinity ever won state in any other team sports? This is not a flame, but a legitimate question. I am just wondering how long it has been for a Trinity championship.

Yeah actually believe it or not Trinity has done it in just about everything else besides football before today :D . Wrestling, gymnastics, swimming, girls basketball, and some other teams that our nearly as popular combined as the football team.

that is why I asked the question. I thought that Trinity had had its fair share of trophies

Actually, Trinity has never won a state championship in a major team sport in its history. They did win the 1990 championship in boys gymnastics, and they've come very close in both boys and girls basketball. I believe if you watch the game broadcast again, Steve Lineweaver, in his post-game interview following the presentation of the trophy, even refers to Trinity's record as far as championships go.

I always thought it was strange that Trinity, a big school with a well-funded sports program and a very competitive atmosphere on campus, had never won the big one. This championship is a major monkey off the institution’s back. Always the bridesmaid...not any more!
