Unbelievable....

650,000 Ike victims turned down by FEMA. Seems that the so-called "trained" FEMA inspectors were short-order cooks just a few days prior to dismissing folks for storm damage.

He said people sometimes don't understand the limits of FEMA's help. The agency will pay only for home repairs that aren't covered by insurance and will provide only enough money to make the home safe, secure and functional.

from the article. makes sense to me. hope the ones who truly need help will appeal.

Plenty of blue tarp to go around down here. I'm surprised to see as much of it as there is still.

A lot of Rita repairs never happened. It's the classic bait and switch. Insurance companies say they don't cover flood damage, even though the damage was from wind first. FEMA says go talk to your insurance company. The people left hanging are the less educated who don't understand things real well and can't communicate effectively to begin with. Very sad.

in spite of my earlier post pointing out the insurance dillema, I thoroughly agree with this statement.
